I traveled around the Eastern Coast over the last month and it was amazing. I love Thailand right now for personal reasons, mainly deserted beaches. However, I know a lot of people that need the money and I think they should reopen. I don't personally believe that covid is any worse than SARS or H1N1 which we were cognizant of, but not hysterical. Furthermore, I think that once covid dies down in the rest of the world the people left in Thailand will not have a proper immune response when they do reopen and a vaccine may or may not be reliable.

This restaurant is close to my house. I went there once when Eatigo had it at 50% discount. I was planning to go this week actually, but i guess not. Idiots.

For the average English teacher @35k a month, they would have to pay 60k+ to meet all requirements and also complete the visa paperwork before they even get to thailand. I cant wait to see how this plays out...

I consider it the tax to pay to live in their little bubble, which is outside the Western woke PC world. Thank God for that!

So basically they aren't flying to the US so they can't seize their planes. Smart choice. Not the moral one. But smart none the less.

Probably PTSD. I've seen this kind of stuff before. He needs to go back to the states and get some psychiatric help.

My takeaway from this:
If going to Chiang Mai. before you depart make sure you download Tinder and get the Gold package one week prior to departure. Chat up girls. Get one to pick you up at the airport; alternatively, You can get multiple girls to get you from the airport and then just go with the prettiest one. Problem solved.

I can't imagine teaching that much and for that long. I think a lot of teachers are going to retire or quit before this year is over.

The guy is trying to find his dad. Maybe it's all he could afford. If it's nothing to you then maybe you can match him 150k to help him and put your money where your mouth is.

The amount of people with ooronavirus hasnt increased, just the availability of testing. The truth is there has probably been lots and lots of undiagnosed cases since december.

Testing is still limited to select hospitals. COV-19 has been here a long time and has infected many more than anyone realizes. Once a faster, cheaper test arrives we will realize how many actually have it and the numbers game will start to look a lot different.

To be honest, Thai kids just copy off of the one kid that actually does it anyways. It's basically pointless.

As I've also understood it it's only possible if they work together to coordinate and organize everything to time. Usually though, as I've understood it, it's much, much easier to go to Laos and start again.

So is my black british friend that lives and works here a migrant or an expat considering we both have the same exact occupation?

These 35k contracts are crap. Working in government schools where you don't get paid for 3 months a year equals out to about 26,000 a month considering the holidays you have to save for. That's peanuts. Considering that the demand for "qualified teachers" is higher and higher every year, will they start to pay more? How long before a TEFL and BA isn't enough and it must be a teahcing degree? I'm glad enough to have moved on to a 50,000 a month teahcing job because if I had to stay and work in one of these government schools for any longer I would also have moved to China, which I've heard nothing but good things about, or maybe even back to Japan.

Get a lawyer and sue him for defamation.

The nightlife seems like it's been dead for a while now. I know the vans used to kind of obstruct traffic flow through Suk 11, but at least the area seemed festive and well, busy. I'm not much of a club person, or even a gogo bar person. Meeting random people over beers or buckets in the street was a favorite pasttime of mine. The streets seem so empty now, everything closes early and it's become kind of boring. Even tourists I met were kind of like, hey this place isn't what I expected at all, why is everything closed?

Yes, there is a clash but not as listed on the poll. There is a clash as scams, double pricing and exploitation of tourists to the point where it's commonplace is apalling. Foreigners can't help but look down on Thais in general when we can't go anywhere without a tuk tuk trying to rip us off or a taxi wanting 300 baht to go anywhere. It's in your farang face on a dail basis, and it leaves a lasting negative impression on Thaland as it makes them look like desperate or shady people, even though some of us that live know there are plenty of really good Thai people. Even my girlfriend and Thai friends admit Thailand has a problem with ripping off tourists and expats, but no one seems to have an answer on how to fix it because the Thai education doesn't promote critical thinking and Thai's don't really want and or know how to challenge the status quo.

"They believed that vending machines would encourage teens to have sex."
Maybe they forgot what it was like to be a teen. I remember that I didn't need much encouragement, although it was a little embarrassing to walk into a store and buy them at that age.

nightlife and sex industry can be two different things. If given the option to choose one, I'd choose the nightlife over the sex industry.

I'll never forgett the first time I came here and I took a taxi to the Khao San area for 700 baht because I diddnt know any better at the time. Screw it, let them go. The Airport Rail Link is a much better deal anyways. The shuttle to the airport bus station is also free.

Some one needs to turn this into a comic strip. The things that go on here just blow my mind sometimes.

I read an article about how Thailand wants quality tourists, followed by an article on how Chinese tourists are the worst mannered in the world, followed by another article on how Thailand wants more Chinese tourists. I've lived here for a couple years now and I still can't get over some of the things that occur jjst defy all logic.
