I informed you previously you can obtain the single entry Non Imm O visa based on Thai spouse from Savannahket, with no financial requirement followed by a 60 day extension from Immigration, which gives you almost 5 months. (you can ask Savannahket if they'd issue a 2nd Non Imm 0 SE in the same year when applying the for the first one).

Long term, you need to employ an agent to afford you a 1-year extension based on retirement, circa 25K.

Thanks, I'm on the SE visa now. According to the information provided by DrJack54, I will hopefully be able to make a 1-year extension based on monthly income after that.

Things can change. Many years ago the extensions based on retirement Financials changed

Adapt to the change. If cannot then go home.

The point is that in case of OP he mentioned EU. Would help a lot if @Nayet clarified.

Reasonable to guess he is not UK,USA,AU.

Perhaps he can obtain an "income letter" from embassy.

Perhaps his immigration office only requires the letter and not proof of pensions as pointed out in post above by @sandyf

The income requirements for monthly transfers has very low requirement. 40k

Sorry for my late response. I'm Swedish.

I remember getting an income letter from my embassy (for a different purpose) a couple of years ago, but I'm not sure that's going to help now.

Also, because the money is not from any kind of pension fund (and the amont varies), won't I basically incriminate myself as someone working without a work permit?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has had problems getting multiple consecutive Single Entry visas, as this seems to be my only recourse for the time being.

    It was a truthful answer.
Thailand has financial requirements to stay, just as other Countries have.

They have those financial requirements for a reason.

    If you can't meet them, what will you do in a medical emergency, let me guess;
    1. Employ an agent. (Sarcasm)
    2. Do a runner and leave the bill unpaid.

My health insurance is about 35k Baht a year, quite a bit less than 400k.

    It's pretty simple.

If the OP cannot show the 400k he can opt for single entry non O and also obtain 60 day extension to visit wife.

If over 50 he could obtain a non o based on retirement from a visa exempt entry and use agent for ongoing extensions.

Lot depends on long term plan and period of stay each year in Thailand

I am over 50. I don't know about the agent/ongoing extensions option. Where can I find more information about that?

FYI, I don't have the 400k due to of a series of bad financial decisions, but I'm not destitute.

My (wife's) mortgage is equivalent to $160 a month. If I can't afford to live here, I can't afford to live anywhere else either.

If you are applying based on marriage to a Thai you could just ask for a single entry. Then at the end of 90 days go to your immigration office and apply for a 60 day extension to visit with wife. This at least gives you 5 months without having to show 400,000.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll end up doing.

They enforce it by requiring proof of TM30 when you go to immigration for anything, like an extension. That depends on your immigration office, like everything else, there's no consistency. Definitely not the same people that built the website though.

You CAN download a confirmation nowadays, and its a good idea to do that and take a printout with you whenever you go to immigration.

Thanks, Caldera. Fortunately for me, I never go to immigration nowadays.

  7. Once again I have tried submitting the TM30 notification, and I have no idea if I did it correctly. It should be trivially easy for a halfway decent programmer to set up the webpage to display some sort of confirmation once the TM30 report is correctly submitted.

Either way, does anyone know how they enforce the TM30 rule? If enforcement is handled by the same people that designs the TM30 user interface, I guess I have nothing to worry about anyway.

So you don't have the 400k for renewal? Correct?

If so yes Savannakhet is a real option, there is also Ho Chi Minh, but that requires an appointment (approx 4-5 week wait).

Savannakhet doesn't require an appointment, but be warned about 2 things

1- It can be very busy at the consulate (long queues) (so be there early)

2- Don't go and apply on Friday because you will only get your passport back on Monday 2pm.

(Some people don't like the town (too quiet)) but we always liked it (good food (on the river) and of course Beer Lao ???? )

Yeah, I don't have the 400k unfortunately. Thanks for the tips. Savannakhet is probably my best option if I don't need an appointment. I've been there years ago. Not the most exciting place to me, but for a couple days it'll be alright.

  9. Can anyone tell me what supplemental documents are needed with the TM30 when moving into a house owned by the foreigner and the foreigner's spouse?

I can't find any reliable online resources. I wanted to get my own "tabien baan," but for various reasons I won't have enough time for that.

Also, I'm moving from Bangkok to Samut Prakan. Where do I (or my spouse) send the TM30? Or can it be done online?
