Totally wrong. A gang of water throwers usually hang out on 2nd road just before Walking Street and drench every tuktuk that goes by. So basically you can't get into central Pattaya unless you walk, while dodging the morons.

    Ah yes, the Indian community.

    Sorry, I forgot about them.

  2. Stay away from the usual water throwing spots, and you never get bothered by it.

And even then, apart from the odd rogue <deleted>, all the water throwing is finished by sundown.

Obviously, I am not talking about the 19th here.

Way too much whinging about Songkran in Pattaya IMO

I'm flying out to do mine. I need to goto Bkk anyway and it's close to the same price, slightly more if you include the hotel rooms. It's much nicer to stay in a hotel for the night and have a one hour flight each way.

I can't figure out why people would sit in a minivan for 8 hours unless they are in such a big hurry they can't lose a day in Pattaya. There are a lot of people like that around Pattaya though, everybody is in a rush these days.

So, you live at the airport?

  4. An admission that the new car park is too tight for the size of vehicles we have on the road now.

They are looking at putting in a turning circle

Wondering about the market area at the South end and stall holders getting there.

Again, they have 3rd Road, and Pattaya Tai.

But the businesses south of Soi Diana that rely on baht bus trade will suffer.

The common sense thing to do would be to start running a baht bus service on 3rd Road.

Are you trying to suggest that I never stayed at the Siam Sawasdee or had to wait 20 minutes for a baht cab towards South Pattaya Road, or that there were plenty of baht cabs going back along Soi Bukhao from south road.

Soi Bukhao was a shanty town in those days,a few karaoke bars in bamboo huts, not much need for baht cabs. Things took a turn when they bulldozed the corner at Soi Diana and built the LK complex.

I understand you are obsessed with telling people how long you have been in Pattaya.

But your point that Soi Buakhao was one way back in the late 90's is wrong.

The standing tradition was a sign of respect. His Majesty Bhumibol was deeply respected by Thais.

Goes back to the days of Rama V after his visit to Great Britain, where it was usual for the National Anthem to be played at the end of a movie.

So impressed, he took this tradition back to Thailand, although they had to change it to before the movie started, as no one paid any attention.
