  1. MadDog is a little gem that has been serving the hungry and thirsty for many years. Nick is a great guy and has kept his prices low despite inflation. Good choices on the menu, good selection for booze, enough TVs to satisfy sports lovers needs. So what if the girls don't go out of their way to kiss your ar...se, it's not a social club it's a business and Nick runs it as such. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  2. I stay because for most of year it's a damn nice place to be. That being said the burning season is getting worse by the year, traffic is fast approaching crawling speed and with the uncertainty regarding long term visas it is losing its appeal. I get out of here for two months at a time, April and May then November and December so I am able still to appreciate Chiang Mai but I am keeping an open mind about even staying in Thailand. Life is too short to have to deal with issues you have no control over. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  3. Go to Level 9 on the top floor of the Icon IT building. Greay views, indoor and outdoor seating, great music, good prices and great service. Pretty much unknown to most Farangs here in Chiang Mai which IMO is an added bonus. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  4. My agent has told me to just sit tight and see what is yet to come here in Chiang Mai. My visa is up for renewal in mid August and there is still ongoing confusion at Immigration. I suppose panic would set in for those who did not keep up with the changes and are now caught between a rock and a hard place. I will take my two month holiday back in San Francisco next week and when I return I will go see my agent to get my TM-30 taken care of and have a sit down with him at that time about what is now required. I am keeping all options open save one, there is no way in hell I am putting 800,000 baht into Any Thai banks and not have access to those funds. 5. You had better make sure that the Doctor gives you a quick vision test and asks a few questions because at the DLT if you show up with one of those 50B certificates you will be told its no good. They changed this last year and now you need to go and get the proper certificate, I got mine at C.M Ram Health Center for 300B. Height, weight, Blood Pressure, Temperature, Vison Test and General Health questions before the Doctor would issue a certificate . Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  6. Have they ever reached their lofty goals regarding anything in Thailand? It seems every year these so called economic experts come up great predictions for the economy in all areas only to have those blow up in their faces and then be forced to downsize their expectations. Isn't that considered a huge loss of face??? Oh sorry, I forgot T.I.T. does not always to the Government. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  7. I always wonder what is Thaksins end game?? Surely the guy does not wish to die overseas? He must keep the hope alive that someday, somehow he will return to Thailand, not to serve a day in prison and once again try to be a dominant player in the game of politics. 8. I personally like the term 'Man Up" when attempting to deal with your paramour and her family. Of course if you continue to think with your small brain down below you got no chance. It's your dime, your time and either they accept that or down the road you go. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  9. Thais attitude to foreigners has changed as evidenced by this incident to my friend. He had his Camry keyed three times and it took a lot of pressure on the Police before they would do anything about it despite having CCTV footage of the guy. Finally they rounded up the Bozo and he just simply told the Police he hated foreigners and had done this many times to their cars. Did he have to pay, yeah right, did he do any jail time, ditto. IMO this Thai smile is all superficial but I can deal with that and just go about my business. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  10. Transfer-wise is the best but I don't think they are offering a debit card at this time. That had been planned but so far it hasen't happened. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  11. Growth slows, risk rise, household debt is out of control, exports are down again. Yep, all is well with the Thai economy, ha ha ha. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  12. Why?? It's not as if he has a snowballs chance in hell of ever becoming the P.M. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  13. How much money do you think the Red Bull family here in Thailand pay that Formula 1 team to take on a totally lacking in experience young driver who just happen to have a smigden of Thai in his parentage?? I would think upwards of at least a few million pounds. Just another P.R. stunt to divert the fact that the scion of that family killed a Thai policeman and ran away never to have to face justice. Money talks and solves all here in the Land of Smiles. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  14. For Christ sake those wishing to properly celebrate this most Irish of holidays need only head to a well know establishment of questionable Irish lineage in Anasarn Market after 18:00. Booze, promo girls, Guinness, Formula 1 and corned beer and cabbage all waiting for you. As the only genuine Irishman in Chiang Mai you can find me there sitting at the bar waiting for lovely young lasses to kiss me and buy me a pint. 15. If the BIBS in Chiang Mai are to be believed having your thirst quenched with Demon alcohol will be OK after 18:00. I intend to see about that as it's also Saint Patrick's Day and this Irishman is not about to abstain. Erin Go Bragh. Sent from my CMR-AL19 using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
