Really, anymore. nothing surprises me about the LOS....However, if these
businesses weren't fronts for whore houses, (upstairs, and back rooms with
Russian whores, and gambling joints and underage hookers of all Nationalities
they wouldn't have to pay the cops and other off............

Attempting to reason with people like this is useless. The are from a different
world than you can even imagine. You say moving would be running away, I
think moving would be wise, and keep the situation from getting to a place
where someone gets hurt or worse. I would be looking for a new house TODAY,
and have an 1980's Boom Box or two blasting out my windows about 4 AM the day
I found my new home until I moved.

This is so sad because of the loss of a young life, However, it's difficuly to have
a great deal of sympathy for people who do such stupid things.

Only when the word get out, AND IT HAS STARTED that Thailand is not the LOS, but
the land of Murder on the Roads by Companies that don't "give a sh## " about
you safety ; and only want your money will this problem be even considered by TAT.
Lots of Europeans, Chinese, and Japanese are already going to other Countries
where they feel safer. Hope tourism declines by 60% in the future, it will serve
these money hungry business right.

I would go stark raving mad if I had to work full time in a Thai 7/11 store and hear that sound hundreds of time per day. In the busier stores it NEVER stops.
I worked 35 years in a STAT lab in a hospital....wish the sound of a door bell

Can we "The People" pass a law that will now hold the Phuket Land Transportation
Office, it's Officials both liable in Criminal and Civil Courts for any ACCIDENTS, and
INJURIES or DEATHS that occur by these "DRIVERS"
Each of these Drivers and Vans should be required to have the Son, Daughter, Wife
Mother or Father of one PLTO Officer's family in the van at all times...............

Another drunk,obnoxious Russian. We do have our share of them here in
Pattaya too, looks like Phuket will be getting rid of this idiot. My friends tell
me the Russians are so obnoxious because it's the first time these "peasants"
have ever had a an extra dollar to travel and they just have no manners and
still think they are on the farms with their animals.

I think it would be good to plan to save a little each month so you are able to get out
of CM for the 6 or 8 weeks when
the fields are burned and the air pollution is so bad.
I lived in CM for a year, and really enjoyed the cooler Winter weather, however the
pollution was starting to affect my breathing. I enjoyed the Mountains however, i
always lived near the Ocean and missed the Ocean. I have relocated to Jomtien,
have been here almost three years. Not the air pollution, however, no really cool
weather either, everything has an up and down side. Jomtien is about 10-15%
more expensive than CM, but I manage very well. I do miss my Kau Soi...and
Pizza at Duke's........
Good luck....I worked until I was 62, Can't imagine retireing before that, I enjoyed
working and there are days after 4 years of retirement that I want to go back to
work. If the air pollution gets to you consider Jomtien/Pattaya or Hua Hin......as
a get away............

Go get 'em....Finally trying to do something about all the traffic congestion
due to illegal parking. How about the jerks blocking the entire traffic lane
for 10 minutes at a time while they go get their lunch, put a metal boot on
the wheel and charge 'em 2000B to take it off..........

If you cook your steaks and hamburgers at home, get a motorbike or live on the baht
bus route in CM you can live really well on 35,000B ($1200)per month, really well. I
rented a beautiful studio at the Gala Thong for a year for 7,000B per month. Went
bowling once a week, played golf, went for drinks once or twice a week, enjoyed the
movies each week and ate lots of thai food that I enjoy. Oh you can go to Duke's
just across the river for the Best Pizza in Thailand. Enjoy CM.

I walk the beach each morning in Jomtien, There is lots of space to walk

Never ever rent a jet ski...Big ripoff...ask anyone who lives here.
Really you must see Koh Larn 1 1/2 hour boat ride from Pattaya 30B each way the water
is clean and beautiful. I go once a week pack a lunch or buy lunch there.
Nong Nooch Gardens is beautiful, on the way to Phoenix CC good golf there.
You can spend much of the day at the Gardens.(500B entry)
See the Big Buddha and don't miss the view of Pattaya at sunset from the Mountain where
the Big Duddha is located.
Get a hotel with a great pool, water in Pattaya is filthy.
On Taprasett Road in Jomtien Fri, Sat Sun market is great.
Don't miss the Roman Colissum on Taprasett Road, Laydboy show is great (1,000B)

Please define "Farang Ghetto "for me...I never heard the term. I live in Jomtien, in a
nice, but not exclusive gated community, about 60% Farang and lots of Thais especially
on the weekends from BKK. its great, everyone appears to get along, only problem
in high season some of the drunk Russians tend to get a little loud, but security puts
an end to that as soon as you call.
