Sounds like West Coast circa 2006.
AFL 2024: Melbourne footballer Joel Smith accused of cocaine trafficking
The failed drugs test probe into Melbourne’s Joel Smith has taken a dramatic turn, with anti-doping investigators accusing the Demon of cocaine trafficking. See how the AFL responded.Anti-doping investigators have accused Melbourne footballer Joel Smith of cocaine trafficking in a dramatic escalation of his failed drugs test probe. After reviewing his phone, Sport Integrity Australia officials have uncovered multiple text messages sent by Smith referencing cocaine. In one message to Demons teammates last year, he offered them a quantity of the drug, it is alleged. This masthead has not confirmed how many Melbourne players the SMS was sent to, or the amount of cocaine he offered.SIA has asserted to Smith that he has violated several anti-doping rules and asked him to respond by mid-March, before it delivers a finding. The league is understood to be awaiting the outcome of the SIA probe, with the case potentially going to an AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal.Allegations and evidence could also be referred to police. The AFL put out a statement on Tuesday, after the Herald Sun revealed the bombshell development.“The AFL confirms that further Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) have been asserted against Joel Smith of the Melbourne Football Club under the Australian Football Anti-Doping Code,” the statement said.“Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) has notified Smith that three ADRVs for “Trafficking or Attempted Trafficking” of Cocaine to third parties are asserted against him. Under the Code, Trafficking in an anti-doping context is relevantly defined to be ‘Selling, giving, transporting, sending, delivering or distributing a Prohibited Substance, by an Athlete ... to any third party’...”Smith would continue to be provisionally suspended pending the finalisation of the case, the AFL said.“Under the Code, the new asserted ADRVs will be further investigated by SIA and these matters may ultimately be heard by an AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal in the coming months,” it said.Smith, 27, was already facing a suspension of two years after testing positive to cocaine on a game day late last season. He was initially hoping for a ban of three months after his positive urine sample was collected when the Demons defeated Hawthorn by 27 points at the MCG in round 23.But the ramifications for Smith could now be much more serious, with a potential four-year ban mooted, while Melbourne also faces questions.Smith’s management and legal teams declined to comment.A SIA spokesman said the agency would not comment on “operational matters”.One source close to the probe said Smith should not be “scapegoated” over what they asserted was a wider club issue.“It looks like they are planning to hang Joel out to dry for behaviour that is commonplace at Melbourne,” the source said.“It is not unusual for a group of young men who party together to share drugs. Joel might be foolish but he’s hardly Tony Mokbel.“The club should be taking responsibility for what is happening to Joel instead of blaming him in order to cover up a much wider problem. Joel is not a bad apple in a barrel of clean ones – the whole joint is rotten.”The latest of several off-field blows to Melbourne comes more than three years after former president Glen Bartlett raised concerns with the club board about its culture.Crisis talks were held with AFL commission chairman Richard Goyder and ex-league boss Gillon McLachlan, but Bartlett was forced out by the board in April 2021.The club also showed its long-time doctor Zeeshan Arain the door after he raised concerns.Demons chief executive Gary Pert recently claimed the club’s culture was “the best I’ve seen in 40 years”. His comment came amid significant concerns about Smith’s positive test and the behaviour of teammate Clayton Oliver.Star midfielder Oliver recently avoided a criminal conviction after being caught driving while his licence was suspended. A court heard he had been suspended after being hospitalised for a seizure, but he had not opened the letter to inform him.In December, Oliver’s sudden departure from a pre-season camp in Lorne led to a long absence from the club given as being for personal reasons. The four-time best-and-fairest winner returned only three weeks ago.Smith, the son of Dees high-flyer Shaun Smith, has played 42 games since he was signed as a rookie in 2016.Yes brother WILL......them plastic red and dark blue wheelie bin wheels are scraping along the pot holed Pattaya streets.....
Not only did we see North end the illustrious career of that native Australian for misdemeanours we and Fj won't talk about, Angus bites the dust too, that's a big big big big hole to fill...Smith the dick's days as a professional cocaine wooops I mean football player are over, caught not once caught at least twice.....offering said substances to said unknowns at the club, they kept him on the list through 7 long years of injuries they thought a lot of the guy and was starting to show it towards the end of the year....you got to ask what he has between the ears and its obviously some kinda spongy material...
Well this is a good time to take the Eagles as my second team......as it probable the 70s are returning, now Goodwin did impress me last year, I did think he coached well...the poor guy has got a mountain in front go him now...if I where him id be taken the first coaching job offered.....
Ive taken a vow to try and stay positive this year.....ummm....add Olie........now if we were Brisbane or Collingwood you could pencil in a flag....
Angus and Smith out forever allows some creative moves and I recon Simon will give a few of them new guns the chance we did draft a goal kicking mid and a mid with the first two picks...
Anyway I got my new streaming service up and running....looking forward to the start of the season and watching the Eagles and Harley shaking the tree....

Brazil was about 18 years ago. Anyway I appreciated having someone with first hand knowledge of the country to give suggestions and very good they were too, I would definitely have missed out.
Like I said, I have only used an agent twice and I have been on hundreds of trips to dozens of countries. So thanks for your patronising drivel, but the OP was asking for a recommendation as he needs an agent so I was helping give some context to my recommendation of a company.Move along now unless you have something to say that might help.
I did have something to say and I said it, wasn't helpful you decided it was drivel, you would be a honey to live with...enjoy your evening...

555 I love your suggestion Arrr ...2 issues here, 1 the owners already know know we're not happy about the pool parties, 2nd, I'm terrified of snakes. Hoping that the window/wall upgrades do the trick.
If I keep getting woken up from this I'll notify the "old boot" that I'll be moving out to a (hopefully) quiet place to round of my time .
PS: How to deal with the security cameras that they may have and where do I source live snakes that won't bite me. 555
Ahhhh Sercurity cameras are a problem....id just toss it from over the fence straight into the pool, im terrified of snakes too...pet shop, buy from but not in your area, can get non poison type, guests would not know, pretty sure there would be a some helpful Thai around happy to earn 1000B to ummm sling it for you...I wouldnt be spending money on windows, last resort would be one of them boom music boxes and play something like Chinese classic music full bore....

We've lived in the same house and mooban for 16 years.Last year the old house next door was knocked down and a 4br "pool villa" built . It's advertised on Booking.com by Chinese investors.
Every 3-4 days a new group arrives and and it's party time.Getting woken up at 3am is no joke, when they get back from the clubs they head directly into the pool which is on the side that abuts our br. I'm investing 40k on new laminated widows in the hope it works.
Apparently we can complain to city hall...but how effective will that be?
At any rate its a residential area and not commercial.Isn't it basically a hotel?
I'm not very optimist...anyone?
Just leave a snake in the pool for the guests return from a night on the town, id think 2 or 3 times and enough bad reviews will be left to deter future bookings...

I don't know about others but I survive here on my pension income from abroad. Its taxed at source.Maybe more red tape for expats proving that their income is already taxed.A big can of worms if instituted. BTW how much is a 1 way ticket to Phnom Phen these days? With the predicted increases in the 800k in the bank rule and all this crap it may spur some to consider another country for retirement.
Albeit too soon to react.
Talk is cheap, twice to Cambodia, not a place id like to spend more than a week..

Generally true, and I always do it myself. I always wondered why travel agents still existed when it is so easy to do it yourself. However I used an agent (DTC) twice in my life to visit countries - Brazil and Japan - with friends / family that I literally knew nothing about. I could have spent weeks researching locations and booking every hotel, destination, internal flight / train, but it's quite nice to have someone with the knowledge and experience to do all that for you, especially if you are going as a group. My Brazil and Japan trips would not have been as amazing as they were without the suggestions and recommendations of DTC - and if I need to change anything along the way I just call the guy and he sorts it. They offer suggestions, you don't need to agree with them, it is more of a conversation about what you like. But in my experience their suggestions were superb: Iguazu falls in Brazil for example I had never heard of it and definitely wouldn't have thought of going there but it was one of the most amazing places I have ever been, and all thanks to the first hand recommendation of the travel agent. Likewise Kawaguchi in Japan - I'd never heard of it and definitely wouldn't have found it by myself, but he suggested it and booked a great hotel and told us exactly how to get there from Tokyo by train(s).
I didn't use them for any organised tours as I hate those with a huge passion, just recommendations for destinations and interesting places and all the hotels and travel, and I sorted out the rest when I got there.
In the OPs situation with a group of Thais going somewhere they have never been and likely know little about I think he is right to use an agent - they are very useful in those situations and take all the stress and headaches away. And it was not noticeably more expensive than doing it myself although yes, possibly slightly more expensive.
What ever rocks your boat but find it amazing that you would like to go to Brazil and haven't got a clue what the place is about then use someone to "work it out for you".
Just google top 10 places to see in blablabal, really simple, then if something catches your eye do it, but I was very good at geography at school...ive gone to all the places that interested me.

Hahahaha I already believed in reincarnation before I got here, so no no changing as I dont believe my local monk, priest, pope, Rabbi, Mulla etc dictating to me how I should see the world, but if anything ive widened my my mind realising how powerful we are.

Yes I hate golf the most and pretty much all bat too ball games as well, now I like a walk in the park but hitting that little ball around just has no appeal.....it dont get me which is a shame and its something you can do on your own...

Do it yourself/ they will put on min 10% on top of what you can do through google flights or anything else you will use, get the apps "get your guide" "klook" and "Viator" on to your phone they are full of tours pretty much all around the world and can book through the app.

I must come from another planet because I thought Maynard should have got rubbed out, and I need 3 sets of glasses cause what I saw was brutal, but obviously not.....divided the consensus was now the tinkering AFL have decided 3 months later that it was a red card incident.........
Only a Pie supporter would have deemed that non malice and the guy has a record as long as my arm, looking back Grinter, Barry Hall and a few others only had to look sidways to get a booking....mate you launch yourself like a missile you should be gone....and lets not forget the dropping of the right shoulder..

He's a jet but I don't like these long term contracts.
Only the Buddy and Dusty ones seem to have worked.
Yeah well there would be 96 clause's in that contract...with a get out of jail clause thrown in......getting common around the globe, except at the Browns.....they so desperate for a half decent quarterback swooped on Deshaun Watson, they started more quarterbacks since they reformed than the club started a new season, mind you he turned them down the first time and was looking like heading to the Falcons when they came back and surprised everyone with a 5 year 230m fully guaranteed contract...sat out one year looking for a new club as well as fighting allegations of going through 25 masseurs all women and I will spare you the details, goes to the Browns only to be suspended for being naughty and bring the league into disrepute for I think 11 games starts the last 4 or 5 games of the season rusty as hell and everyones going this guy just got 55m to turn up today....second season (on 230M) and gets injured twice...out for I think 4 games total then starts looking like the beast that everyone thought he was then around round 12 gets injured again and out for the season....to his credit played a fantastic game 2 injuries before half time, one a foot when someone fell across it and another got hit on his throwing shoulder, played no drugs I believe and wanted to play out the year....but quack said son...you get hit there again your finished, not only do they have to pay for him but his surgery too.....no get out of jail clauses there...he is an exception...generational....as long as they can keep him healthy which means they will need to invest a couple of hundred million on a couple of elephants you know them 400 ponder line men to protect there investment....
Well we put a few on lifetime superannuation benefits too so you hope there are clauses and get out off jail clauses hey...
Seems all is quite on the western front....De Grey so far has been able to stay out of the media....Oliver too....
2024 Free agents......
Restricted GWS Sam Taylor....
Think there all restricted...Blues Tom De Koning...
Dogs Magical Marcus Bontempelli....you can dream guys.....15 m for 10 ys ....Dogs won't give him up...
"Harry" Harrison Petty Demons...Crows are a sniffing, pretty sure they will throw big money at this guy, well they did last trade period, still a kid and plays key position both ends, I think its more what will it take to keep him rather than what will it take to get him, would be a big blow to us so im expecting the dam busters to come in here...
Oscar Allen, WCE yeah well they die before they leave Perth so in the bag...
Luke Davies-Uniacke North....enough buzz around Arden st for the fella to stay id say...
Andy Bradshaw, Freo, West Aussies the Brashaws are we have the gem of the pack....expect to sit pretty since everyone else has gone and wouldn't look a good fit for Mr Bell if another senior is on the move...
Jacob Weitering Blues
Harris Andrews Lions
Sam Draper Dons
James Worpel Hawks
Cam Rayner Lions
Ed Richards Dogs
Darcey Fogarty Crows
Noah Balta Tigers
No tall key forwards but ours so id say we won't go shopping this year...

out of contract at your club in 2024...and not up to date.....
OOOOoooooo big Tom Macca well you know the deal......last year of your deal you play like the devil went down to Georgia or the way IDF are hitting Hamas or or or or wonder if he's still only eating red meat....I mean only.......Bennie Brown too...Sparrow too......think they signed him...Crows like him big time...Ed Langdon.....druggie Joel Smith....
Tiss the week before Xmas.....in BKK over the weekend and downtown is lit up....plz dont as me about how they and in particular Apple operate in the land of smiles....just trying to get a battery replacement for my MacBook suprisingly cheaper at Apple than the local Crookes...thieves.....local Apple repair mafia, google maps is amazing....this joint was getting 1 good review to 5 bad...sitting waiting for them to have alookie see was seriously amused by the reviews...in the olden days they were known as highway bandits...now facing a third trip to BKK think the hands up give me your money would have worked out cheaper...well I used the trip for a Weeknd away.....twice.....but its long in the tooth now boys...what is it in Thailand? They only give you enough info to get you to the next step...one thing this place teaches you to is....relax...thats after you pulled all you haircut and realise its not going to change...

Dare say there are a few bored Aussie expats waiting for kick off....the properganda mill is working over time at Deeland, Simon says "we are working on winning finals, but we won't focus on winning finals at this stage, because if we do that now we won't get there then" something like that, talking to the converted of course, hanging on every word but we all know the Demons have missed the bus, that window is like a louver not a sliding one, Ben Brown cant fit through, thanks once again Fj for supplying our Premiership full forward for a song and a half, yes the window is really tight now, May better back up his big mouth in the new season and give up the piss for the year, think if were doing anything other than making up numbers in the bottom half of the 8 we are doing really well....
No wild predictions this year, I got use to winning so loosing got hard to take, now we are back to normal any win is a great win...

Yes, I saw your earlier complaints regarding the sidewalks and the traffic jam after the fireworks. Neither would be very high on my list of wants in a place to live in retirement. I've walked sidewalks in many places in Thailand, some better, some worse than Pattaya. Most probably about the same. I've learned to look where I am walking--whether I am in Bangkok, Pattaya, or anywhere else.
Traffic jam after a huge event drawing thousands of people? What a surprise. In normal times, I find the traffic no worse than other areas I have visited. It takes my spouse and me about 15 to 30 minutes to get to most of the places we want to go to in Pattaya from our home on the Darkside. We can live with that. Compared to Bangkok, it's a breeze.
Yes, City Hall is, as you say, a 'hole'. But, I can't remember the last time I had to go there so, again, not something that would be high on my retirement list--which is the subject of the thread.
In choosing a place to live, you do need to weigh the good with the bad. No place is going to be perfect. For us, the good far outweighs the bad in regard to what Pattaya has to offer vs. other places so it's an easy choice for us to live here. I do find myself curious as to why you are living in Pattaya if, as you say, there are so many other better places to live in Thailand. By the way, try the nice bike path around Mabprachan Lake sometime if you like to bike.
ahhhh...why Pattaya.....well I was thinking of Hua Hin, but 4 hrs from BKK and airport and I do travel, the criteria was near the sea easy reach to BKK and airports, and I do go to BKK half a dozen times a year at least.
I live Pratumnak 10 min walk to south Pattaya, it gets busy here, I got the word out about being open to sell my condo, if it happens will move south about 30 to 45 min....

And sure I seen batteries around but I specifically asked for the long life type, (you should know by now Thais are not good at giving you info) LONG LIFE, people get so caught up in there tiny world they dont ready fully or it dont comprehend so you know....you end up with sarcastic comments when in fact ....

I think yours is the 'silly statement'. Many of us living in Pattaya have been to plenty of other places in Thailand and we still choose Pattaya as the place that checks the most of our 'wants list' in a retirement destination. My Thai spouse and I could live anywhere in Thailand--and we have a Bangkok getaway condo--but Pattaya just suits us best.
Then you need glasses fella, I live in Pattaya too, and I have my reasons, it would be the least visual appealing place in the country, throw in city hall or hole would be the worst council, have free fire works but dont have any traffic management plans to disperce traffic, tear up roads and leave footpaths looking like Gaza after an Israeli bombing raid...ride my bike and pot holes all over the place......

I have a small issue, during renovations on my condo someone like my next door who has low tolerance but I dont want to make a big deal about it even if I think he wakes each morning sucking on a lemon....ho he is Thai and rides a Vespa, did I tell you he beat me down 5 flights of stairs me by lift he by sprinting down the fire escape...yes he did, unsociable type, ugly too.....ive since caught him making a bit of noise but im tolerant and haven't bothered to report it to the office on multiple occasion's...like he did...
I do dream of his wheels coming off on his Vespa....while driving at 100ks an hour...anyway glue was squeezed into my lock holding up work for 4 days, I will refrain from pointing the finger at him, but he was the most annoyed while works where going on and the chap on the other side of me isn't even here half the time....at the time I was living in BKK so had to you know make time and drive down, place was unliveable during the renos so I stayed at a hotel, I screwed a hasp and staple to the door and supplied my pretty manager with 4 locks and the combination codes...4 locks you say? well if my door lock was glued once why not 4 times? meanwhile pretty manager made sure the lift camera was turned enough to "watch my door" and no more incidents were detected...
When the works had been concluded I had an electronic door lock installed........I had become paranoid about my devious neighbour. who knows what tricks he would get up to in the future...
Well the battery supplied lasted 1 year, now 6 months on the lock is requesting its 4th set of batteries....ummmm....I need something like Duracell or Everyday long life...did you ever see the battery commercials? at least in Aussie we can get them...yeah is even at DIY and managed to pick up in a store somewhere, but I never seen a decent range of batteries In a shop here anywhere....
Long life batteries anywhere in Pattaya that carries a decent range plz?
