Do a search for Sinopharm Covid spikes to see countries that relied on Sinopharm vaccine and how Covid-19 is spiking again - UAE, Bahrain, Mongolia, ...

In Bahrain, however, a vaccination drive that relied heavily on Sinopharm has so far produced at best mixed results and failed to curb new cases.

I did a search, interesting that  the top 5 hits are American news outlets.

I did take this from the BBC though:

"Of the doses administered (not including Sputnik), 57% were Sinopharm and 43% Covishield.

We don't know how many out of those fully vaccinated people who tested positive for Covid had received Sinopharm, and how many had been given AstraZeneca.

We do know that about two-thirds of those who tested positive largely had mild or no symptoms, according to the country's health commissioner, Dr Jude Gedeon.

Of those who needed admission to hospital, 80% were people who hadn't been vaccinated, and a majority of these also had other health conditions."

Again though this is Sinopharm not Sinovac.

    How big was the sample?

    Who gathered the results?

Were they independently verified by a credible organization?

Why is anyone still taking the W.H.O. seriously on anything connected with China?

Bloomberg reported real world findings in Indo "Indonesia tracked 128,290 health workers in capital city Jakarta from January to March and found that the vaccine protected 98% of them from death and 96% from hospitalization as soon as seven days after the second dose, Pandji Dhewantara, a Health Ministry official who oversaw the study, said in a Wednesday press conference."

There are no publicly available mass testing results for Sinopharm.

We do know, from results in various countries, that Sinovac is around 50% effective.

The WHO said it prevented symptomatic disease in 51% of those vaccinated and prevented severe symptoms and hospitalisation in 100% of samples.

Not too bad really, no severe symptoms or hospitalisation in 100% of cases

If I were offered this vaccine by one of these charitable institutions I think I would take it. I would offer to pay for it (if I could be sure the money was not diverted)!

I am not desperate but I am concerned. I am 64, have diabetes which requires injections to control it, and work (part time ) as a teacher. I have been refused registration/vaccination despite this because I am a foreigner. If I get Covid it would likely, for me, be very serious, perhaps even fatal. The efficacy of this stuff may be less than is desirable, but if it reduces the severity of the infection, then good enough.

Of course this now raises the inevitable question, how does one discover when, where and if they are available?

That's not good news. My school registered me to the local hospital using my Social Security No. and Tax No. along with passport etc. I had my first shot of AZ on Monday. Maybe see if you can ask social security to sort it out.

Not sure why you would have to return to your home country to get a tourist visa. You apparently were able to get a non-ed visa in Laos.

In order to get the non-b visa you will need a work permit application approval letter. With the non-ed visa you have now the labor ministry probably will not accept the application for one.

Can  a non-ed be changed to a non-b visa in country? We have a new teacher who wishes to do this but i have no experience with this.

The work permit can be canceled by submitting a work permit cancellation form. Unless the school was restricted on applying for additional work permits there would be no effect on the school if it was not canceled.

A visa cannot be canceled since it would of been issued by an embassy or consulate. Immigration would not cancel an extension of stay  issued by them without the passport. The extension not being cancelled would not be a problem for the school.

thank you for the quick reply i have passed on the info along with the form

  7. Hello,

I have just been asked how we cancel someones visa and work permit by my head of department. Could someone tell me the documents needed and the process. The teacher left claiming he was going home to take care of some family business and would return in 2 weeks. We have had no word from him since the beginning of Dec now. My head is getting it in the neck from the director so i'm just trying to find some info to help. It is believed the teacher is still in country as when we went to check his apartment he had taken everything with him.

    any help much appreciated

    thank you

  8. If anyone's interested.

Went to immigration today with all forms in hand all signed and ready. It didn't go completely to plan. Our degrees letters from kurusapha transcripts all needed to be countersigned by our director. This was a new thing which we didn't have to do last year so heads up to anyone else doing I soon.

Not too much of a pain the office is only 40mins away in the car. Just glad I went in the morning

  9. Hello,

    Exactly! This is Thailand.

I'd say you might be asked to pay 100B for it when you go pick it up in a few

    days. You'll be alright.

My colleague at school renewed his WP a few months ago but got it done

on the day he applied for it. I'd think it depends upon the immigration office.

Can I ask you one thing now? Which one did you do first, your WP renewal

or your Non-B extension? We have to do the extension first, and then the

    renewal here.

We do our work permit first buddy then head to immigration

  10. So the first comment was about yesterday but I woke up worrying. Got a phone call today saying that my medical cert was a photo copy not original and asked bring I the original so told them I'd be there within the hour.

Got there they took my medical certificate and started doing all the stamps and asked me to wait. After about 20mins they asked us for 3100 baht per app so 9300 in total and everything was done. They even processed my colleagues who is in Laos and he'd forgotten to give us the photos. So all in all I was worrying about nothing. Tomorrow ill be off to immigration fingers crossed everything will be just as smooth

  11. i went to the labour office with another teacher. We handed our documents across they checked everything and said it will be ready in couple of days they didnt ask for the 100baht filing fee of give a receipt. Should i be worried? I have a friend in nother province who is currently having many problems so maybe i am over thinking things. Any insights would be good

  12. i have never recieved a debit or credit card here and ive had them sent on three occasion by post. i would tell the bank you've lost the cards and to send new ones and to activate them while you are here. you can activate them online or over the telephone

  13. When i was proving my relationship i used pictures of previous trips together but also linked those pictures up with different hotel bookings etc. I also took screen shots of old facebook conversations and pictures together as they are already dated along with skype conversations. These were all fine and accepted as evidence i indexed them all to make it easier for the IO.

When i went through Heathrow airport with my g/f i just asked someone on duty if i could go with my g/f and they said yea it shouldnt be a problem and pointed us both to the non eu line. We got asked a few basic questions like how long we were staying and where etc but the IO was very nice and wished us well on our travels after a few mins.

i do believe the main things is putting the data together in a clear manor and indexing it all. i clearly put the sponsors and their bank accounts in one section and then my details and proof of the relationship in another and clear enotations of pictures. I admit it was a massive pain and it took me a while to pull everything together but it was worth it

  14. When I did this last year, a signed letter from my father and a signed letter from his company confirming his earnings wasn't enough. As we named him as the sponsor they wanted his bank statements. I had enclosed my own bank statements from Thailand and also the flight tickets the first time i applied which was not enough even though i had over 10k Egnlish in the bank for a 3 week holiday(this might be because i named my father the sponsor) They also ask for lots of pictures of you together throughout the relationship to prove that it is a genuine relationship. i also enclosed previous skype and facebook conversations with dates to show the longevity of our relationship.

    hope this helps

so were you successful on a 2nd application and if so what/whose funds did you show them and how much?

I have hundreds of pics of us together from the last 2+ years so that shouldnt be a problem

In the end my father sent through his bank statements and an investment statement to show that he had the funds. As i said im not sure if i was rejected first time based on a small technicality of saying my dad was the sponsor even though i showed the funds of 10k+ English.

The second application was successful and i sent copies of my banks both English and Thai along with my dads bank statements. My wife(before just girlfriend) also had some land in her name and we got all those papers translated too.

i believe if you can get the papers from your family in the UK along with yours it would be much better. My experience of it all was you cant give too much so try to cover every base from your view your partners view and the family back home. I sent a huge amount of paperwork with my wife on the second attempt and we were successful i annotated every picture and also the screen shots of my facebook account.

When we finally got the visa through for our 3 week holiday it was a 6month visa so if shes accepted your length of stay shouldnt be a problem.

    hope this helps
