That is precisely one of the fundamental functions of an AVR/AVS, it regulates over and under voltage to maintain the optimum (220v, other voltages are available, ) output. There are certainly some extremes that it can’t fix but then usually  has a Hi/Low voltage cut contactor for the extremes, if not they are simple enough to fit.

The problem is the complete picture as is often missed by inexperienced posters.

Power requirements made up of voltage and current, among other things on AC.

If the cable creates a voltage drop, no end of voltage correction will enable more current to flow over a given cable size, pure physics.

The fix is blatantly obvious, install a mains cabling system with maximum demand calculations that allow a maximum voltage drop of the standard allowable of 5%.

..........or shift the house closer to the main supply .....🤣

Thanks crossy neighbors have same problem  250 meters to transformer

If it's fed via similar size cabling as all other domestics in Thailand, that'll do it.

AVR won't fix a voltage drop problem.

  3. Best approach would be to look around and see what other systems are working successfully, both in relation to power generation and distribution and the political kickbacks on poor decisions.

Saves all the suck it and see problems as most seem to come up with.

Certainly do not follow the current Aus gov examples with dead loss wind turbines and tearing up prime land for HV distribution.

Mate of mine works in the solar farm installs and suggestions from those who one would consider as "in the know" say the farms are a complete waste of time....... best place for solar panels with so many advantages, is , up there on the roof of individuals.

Aus currently has 6kw complete systems being installed on private roof tops ( with gov subsidy from way back in the beginning) of less than AU$3,500.00.

Qld a feed back tariff rate at 13c or more per kwh but poor old Victoria, less than 3c (probably because Vic is broke...no money)

It can take double that to start up, so 16.5 amps maximum..

Actually, older style compressors, motors what have you, can take 4 to 6 times full load at startup.

This is an instantaneous value BUT if the motor doesn't have access to enough current from the supply, (more often than not due to cabling being too small and creating large voltage drop) they will sit on the start winding, never get going properly, and burn out.

    I have this water heater.

Products such as this can change dramatically from model to model.

For any decisive answer, best to quote the model number so any service information can be accurate.

Anyone get the nice diarrhea from ingestion of filthy Songkran water ?

On that subject, does anyone really know what quality is in the water in the ice blocks they shove in ones beer?

I tend to drink the beer quick, well before too much of the ice starts to melt so it doesn't dilute the beer.

Then get the bottle itself and shove in the ice before any second attempt at top up....get some funny looks though.

As I stated:  Just locate the 10,000-liter tank on the highest part of the roof of your house.

    Better you than me.

I would have reservations walking around on some of the roof construction I see let alone stick a load of 10 tonne up there......or as another said , a couple of them, so 20 tonne.

They do have IC engine driven pumps to cover any emergency these days you know.

As for the fuse links, 2 out would normally indicate a line overload, 3 out a blown tranny.

and am beginning to doubt it's accuracy, as I always get a higher reading at the doctors or dentists than at home.

I'd steer away from thinking the instrument is inaccurate.

More likely inaccuracy in the tests done at doctors or whatever.

Reason being, conditions vary dramatically at, or on the way to the latter.

Medical staff used to argue with me about my readings so I was advise by my GP to do a series of tests around similar times, night and morning, for a week and look at the average.

Also told me to keep the results and show anyone who asked.

Around a week after, had the need to visit the outpatients section of local hospital, waiting room for 5 hours on hard as seating and freezing air conditioning.

Issue came up, showed them the previous test result sheet, .............oh...mmmm.....ok....no problem.

Well, there was, no hospital blankets given out anymore in the freezing air con because "someone might trip over it" ...........crazy shit these days.

Overall, Omron BP tester should be fine.........maybe you need new batteries.

  9. I worked out a LONG time ago that, although Thai's will initially seem impressed that you bother to try to learn Thai language, fact remains they REALLY do not want you to know what they're talking about.

In the early days, my wife sent me on an errand to the local shop with a mouthful of Thai words to practice with.

First time I realised it was a waste of time.

She sent me for sticky rice.........I babbled off that I needed nong kilo.

Returned home quite chuffed , wife said, this is 1 kilo steaming rice, tell me what you asked for.

So babbled off again what she told me to say.....she said, perfect.

So she called the shop and asked why they give me steaming rice...................

Answer was , yes, we know what he said but..............Farang never eat sticky rice so we give him steaming rice.

    So........... I gave up trying.

The triac becomes leaky or fails completely resulting in a constant connection from power line to fan motor.

In fifty years I've never seen a triac that is "leaky".

As far as "fails completely" ...again fifty years show they go open.

  11. Aussie pollies apparently intend cutting back spending on armed forces.

I'm sure if they ask the boofhead Albo nicely, he'd agree to give them both a frigate and a sub.

At least by the time we get these new subs they'll be over 30 year old designs and pretty useless anyhow.

Well, except for tying them up at the wharf and using the nuclear reactor for general power.
