If older type air over hydraulic, of which there are probably still quite a few around, the opposite is true.

Actually, older style compressors, motors what have you, can take 4 to 6 times full load at startup. This is an instantaneous value BUT if the motor doesn't have access to enough current from the supply, (more often than not due to cabling being too small and creating large voltage drop) they will sit on the start winding, never get going properly, and burn out.

On that subject, does anyone really know what quality is in the water in the ice blocks they shove in ones beer? I'd steer away from thinking the instrument is inaccurate. More likely inaccuracy in the tests done at doctors or whatever. Reason being, conditions vary dramatically at, or on the way to the latter. Medical staff used to argue with me about my readings so I was advise by my GP to do a series of tests around similar times, night and morning, for a week and look at the average. Also told me to keep the results and show anyone who asked. Around a week after, had the need to visit the outpatients section of local hospital, waiting room for 5 hours on hard as seating and freezing air conditioning. Issue came up, showed them the previous test result sheet, .............oh...mmmm.....ok....no problem. Well, there was, no hospital blankets given out anymore in the freezing air con because "someone might trip over it" ...........crazy shit these days. Overall, Omron BP tester should be fine.........maybe you need new batteries.

I worked out a LONG time ago that, although Thai's will initially seem impressed that you bother to try to learn Thai language, fact remains they REALLY do not want you to know what they're talking about. In the early days, my wife sent me on an errand to the local shop with a mouthful of Thai words to practice with. First time I realised it was a waste of time. She sent me for sticky rice.........I babbled off that I needed nong kilo. Returned home quite chuffed , wife said, this is 1 kilo steaming rice, tell me what you asked for. So babbled off again what she told me to say.....she said, perfect. So she called the shop and asked why they give me steaming rice................... Answer was , yes, we know what he said but..............Farang never eat sticky rice so we give him steaming rice. So........... I gave up trying.

Immigration would have entry records. Surely a fairly straight forward process to raise alarms on overstay people. Perhaps a good move would be to offer say 1000 baht for information leading to an arrest (kick 'em out) order. Many Thai have their head stuck in mobile phones these days so some kind of app perhaps.

Fairly common fault in the remote is the button looses it's conductive coating and no longer works. There are claimed fixes which work on youtube or instructables but never in real life. Obvious fix there would be a new remote. One can check if it is working by pointing at you mobile phone screen while pushing the button in question. The IR light can be seen while the phone camera is active.

That would be my concern. The trip from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya is usually around the 2 hour mark as others have said, BUT............ having just returned from Thailand I can tell you every domestic flight was late, perhaps at least 1 hour. So is this an International arrival where you have to go through immigration or a basic domestic flight? Either could see delays, immigration or late flights. I prefer to eliminate the possibility of delays by doing what another suggested.....take a flight the day before.
