What would you do in this situation
Wife and I live in USA, I lived in Phuket 2011-2020. Stepson is 17, almost 18, in a fairly expensive yacht mechanic training program finished in April.
He and his gf live in my 3bdrm townhouse in a modest gated community in Phuket while we both work in the USA since 2021 after I lost my job in Phuket.
I recently learned that he stole and sold 10 baht weight ~5oz basically all his mothers gold jewelry we saved over years and gambled it away on online Baccarat. He also drained my father in laws savings of 26000 baht.
All internet capable devices have been secured, car titles and keys secured, and he is not allowed to go anywhere but school and home while I make my next step.
I don't want to pull him from the school term where he was doing well, and started making a tourist visa application today because his mother wants him in the USA under her eye and then apply for Green Card here. It took me 3 years to get GC so I'm scared to apply that first, and will go for the visa.
Anyone else dealt with anything like this? His late 50s grandparents, my inlaws are coming to stay at the house 5 nights/week now. They are peasants though and scared of "ghosts" in my big home and also don't know how to take care of it.
Really upset and my wife is distraught, he is an only child and never acted out, did drugs, or drank before. But apparently is a compulsive gambler now at age 17.
Is there anything like gamblers anonymous for Thais or counseling available? He has decent insurance we pay for.
We cannot go to Thailand until mid April due to work constraints.

Thank you everyone I will check into getting the MFA stamp at Bangkok, sounds very complicated I will have to send someone from Phuket I hope there is an agent I can pay because we are both in USA and I have to give it to the office in Chicago before May 4th. I can't believe there's no one reading this site has done it in the last year or so.

Hello,
My wife just got a letter from the US government concerning her I-485 Green Card application. They were asking me to include a certified translation. She is here in America with me since she already had a visitor Visa, and we had her sister scan the original birth certificate in Thailand and email to me which I printed and submitted digitally.
My question is where do I need for them to take it to have a certified translation done I'm sure it cannot just be any place I want to make sure to follow the steps exactly because they want this document by May 2nd. If my sister-in-law takes the original to a certified translator in Phuket which I assume is probably a lawyer from a list, then they can mail it here and I can submit it.
Any guidance on this matter from someone who has made a green card for their ties spouse and had to get the certified birth certificate translation sent over would be appreciated.

I have a re-entry permit

I am leaving the country to get a non O visa at Savannakhet, have been working on a non B extension good til early 2020 that after leaving the company I was at last week has yet to be canceled. Can I ask the immigration officer on the Thai side of the Friendship II bridge to cancel my non B extension as I leave and cross into Laos?
USA citizen, done the Savannakhet thing before in 2016 and it was easy.

I had worked 2016-2017 on a non-O multiple entry marriage visa from Savannakhet because since I went abroad for work frequently it easily filled the 90 day requirements.
In 2018 I got a job for a multinational that insisted I get a non-B Visa with 2 year extension (BOI Company).
I recently left there and plan on opening a company in the coming months. My BOI visa has not been cancelled and they have my work permit.
Do I need to go to immigration and ask them to cancel my BOI non B visa before I leave to fly to Ubon Ratchatani and take the bus to Savannakhet to obtain another 1 year multiple entry non-O visa?
Edit: I had a valid work permit at all times

There are packs of wild dogs in Savannakhet near the old district where many low end hotels are, a few kms south of the Thai embassy. Be careful, at one point I had to pick up a bamboo stick and ward off a pack of about 10 that surrounded me and got aggressive around 7pm.

Most, almost all Thais I know can barely use or cannot use maps at all, even career fishermen looking at a map of the area they fished for 30 years has no idea what is depicted. I can count on one hand the Thais I know that use google maps or GPS directions regularly.

Took the overnight bus from BKK to Mukdahan, I was on the first bus to go over the "Friendship Bridge II", paid 1500 for Lao visa and then shared a tuk tuk 200 baht for 2 to the Thai Consulate. After ignoring the aggressive touts trying to proofread my application for a fee, I waited at the gate with a few others, Vietnamese getting education visa, a rude Frenchman, and a Canadian teacher with his girfriend from Loei province.
Paid 5,000 baht fee and presented my papers all signed and stamped, and the guys smile and told me to come back at 2pm next day. I did see, if your papers weren't all correcet, the staff would get visibly irked and send people to the back of the line to deal with them,
Next day, I checked out after a morning museum trip and walked about 30 minutes to the consulate, ignored the touts, and picked up my passport. Shared another tuk tuk back the bridge, and then went over to Mukdahan.
Be careful what you say at Mukdahan entry. I saw one woman only get 15 days to her dismay and one guy told "I see you come many time many visa you tourist you not working? I give you 30 days only." The guy got upset but the immigration police didnt care and waived him through. I told him I was here for work and to be with my family (in Thai with a few Isam words I learned from my staff) and he said nothing and stamped me in til Feb. 5th
Customs agents were emptying out bags and suitcases seemingly at random for thorough searches, so dont do anything stupid like try to bring Buddha images, e cigarettes, controlled drugs, rare animals, or over 10 packs of cigarettes.

So I found the page in Thai showing what I need but I want to be absolutely sure as I cannot read Thai only speak and listen, and I don't entirely trust my wife to get it all correct. I gather I need:
Thai Marriage certificate orginal
Wife ID card original
Wife House Book (Tabien Ban) original
The Certificate of Change of Name
Passport
Photos
Am I missing anything?

I send to NY branch of Bangkok Bank, via ACH transfer from Wells Fargo, takes 2 days but costs ~$5 and rate is good, shows up in my BKK bank and can withdraw in 48- 72 hrs after sending online

thank you very much for sharing your knowledge

So I can apply for a non-O multiple entry visa in Vientiane also or must do this at Savannakhet?
-
I got a non O in July 2016, extended 1 year in November 2016, will expire on the 7th
-
without showing cash in the bank or an income?
-
Is there any advantage then to going to Savannakhet over Vientiane? Would a multiple entry O allow me more time in the country?
-
thank you, I am coming from phuket and trying to save money, looking at bus to BKK and then the nok air flight+van to Mukdahan and then over to Savannakhet, do you know of a better option?
-
I have all those, she does not need to be there though right?

Greetings:
I am currently on a non-O marriage visa extension, and my year is up on Nov. 7th. I would just extend it again, but I recently lost my job and will have no income this month besides ~35k baht I transfer from the USA for my expenses. I have heard that proof of income is not neccessary at Savannakhet, is this still the case? If so, I plan to go obtain a new 3 month O visa there. I do not have 800000 baht in the bank.

Has anyone USA citizen flown from Thai to USA via China lately that can share?
-
We flew HKT>Shanghai>NYC>CLT last time no trouble, May 2015
-
No one has Chinese visas, wife has a USA 10 year multi entry B1/B2 Class Visa for the USA, and I have a Thai 1 year extension of stay based on marriage extended from my "O" Visa. I am under the impression we have 24 hrs transit allowance time in China while in Chengdu and Shanghai on our connection. The double connection sucks, but I cannot complain much for $710 per person roundtrip HKT-NYC ticketsk
