  1. Thanks for the replies, I just talked to a neighbor. He has 3 non-inverter 9k units and said he had no problem. He said the power dips around 6-7 pm. They slow down for a couple hours then get back to normal speed. Another neighbor is the same way. They just turn it on and forget about it. Our 9k unit runs fine . The 18k unit runs great but I get nervous when it gets down below 180v. Maybe I should just take the neighbors "mai ben rai" attatude and not worry about it. How low does the voltage have to get and for how long before there is a problem? Anyway, I'm going to Global House tomorrow. I think buying an AVR is the easy part. Finding some one to install it could be a problem.
  2. Thanks crossy neighbors have same problem 250 meters to transformer
  3. We have low voltage problems. In the morning, we have 225v, but as the day goes on the voltage slowly drops. When I turn on our 9k btu inverter unit the voltage drops a volt or two. When I turn on the 18,000k non-inverter, the voltage drops about 20 volts. After an hour or so, it's down to 180v, so I shut it off. PEA came 4 days in a row, but couldn't fix it. I've been thinking maybe change the non- inverter for an inverter unit or get a AVR. Crossy said you can get an AVR for just one appliance or the whole house. Everything seems to work ok except for the 18,000k a/c. Global house has plenty of AVRs, but I'm sure the average homeowner, like me, has no idea how to select or install one. The only real electrician in our area has retired. I'm wondering if Global House can give customers contact information of qualified electricians in the KhonKaen area? Any advice will be appreciated.
  4. The wife and I have accounts with Bangkok Bank. Mine is a fixed account and hers a savings account. When I update my account each year, interest is credited to my account and tax is taken . My wife gets interest, but no tax is taken. I would like to know why one is taxed and the other is not. I don't mind paying the tax, I'm just wondering if she has to claim the interest on her income tax. TIA Z
  5. My wife doesn't use the computer, so I'm wondering, how will she renew her US Passport when I'm no longer here? Any help will be appreciated.
  6. Six days ago, I ordered Puritan Pride, melatonin, 5mg, from Lazzada. It showed no tracking and today, I got the message that the order was cancelled. Three days ago, I ordered a different 5mg melatonin Puritan Pride product from Lazzada and today I got a message it is going through customs in China. I looked at Iherb and it seems to accept orders under 5mg and reject orders over 5mg. I tried to sign up for iherb, but it will only accept a US adress?
  7. I'm looking to buy a new smart phone and lap top. I just found out about bloatware. Google says best to get rid of it. A search here on AN, seems that's not easy to do. I have a couple of smart phones and the wife just bought a new tablet a few months ago. They work fine and I don't think anyone ever removed any bloatware. We just use our devices for youtube, email, and surfing the web. I don't think we have ant apps. If I buy new devices, should I leave the bloatware ? If not, how can I get rid of it ? Any advice will be appreciated.
  8. It's called an inlet hose here. It's the hose that goes from the water valve to the hot water shower. I'm looking for a hose that's 2 meters long. The longest one I could find at Global was 75 cm. Anyone know where I can find what I need ? Thanks Z
  9. My wife is a dual citizen, (US THAI), and a USSS recipient. I read somewhere that USSS is tax exempt, EXCEPT, if the recipient is a Thai citizen. Is there somewhere I can see if this is true?
  10. Thank you. Very helpful.
  11. Anyone know what treatments for rosacea are available here? Tia
