  1. Good for you mate,... whatever floats your boat!

17 years difference in Thailand is nothing,... and you're only 42 which by relative standards makes you a bit of a whipper snapper or at least a "Jock" especially if you're reasonably good looking, not fat and have all (or most) of your hair.

My first TGF was 13 years younger and my wife of 10 years is 19 years younger. In fact, I discovered that her dad (Thai,..and great bloke) is 19 years older than her mum (also Thai) so the age difference between us was probably considered desirable by her and her family as opposed to being any kind of issue at all.

Welcome to the cradle snatchers club,... enjoy!

  2. That already happened last week, all you know is that they guy wore a uniform. Was it a gate guard playing with his own kid?

You should have dome something when you saw that. Approaching him and asking him in any language what he was doing, then you'd have seen his reaction.

We had a gate guard at our school who always molested our girls. Took me a long time that they're actually listening to me. He's gone, no cops were involved.

An Indian guy who worked at our school being an English teacher even topped that.He was caught in a toilette with a grade five girl..

A Thai teacher reported that to the director, but he thought it was just gossip. Then almost 10 months later, he got caught on the toilet again, with the same girl.

I tried all to involve cops that this guy would get deported, but none of our superiors was interested to inform the cops, nor the girl's parents.

Same Indian guy then opened an orphanage in the same city. The girl he'd molested was a "facebook friend" of our son, so I could get details that gave me a huge headache.

I couldn't go to the cops, as nobody would have backed me up.Neither the school, nor the girl.

This is a huge problem in Thai schools in so much that the proverbial blind eye is turned for one of several reasons.

    1) The school cannot afford for such reports to become public and lose face over such incidents

    2) The offending official has somehow earned the sympathies of the management or has something over them in terms of information that could implicate them in a much worse offense. This could be something unrelated or it could be that other staff (perhaps at higher levels) are also kiddie fiddling and they are all basically in cahoots with each other.

    3) The school feels it is a minor offense or would not trust or be inclined to act of the statement of a farang.

We had an incident (actually a couple) where the school head staff took sides with the offending teacher despite at first agreeing that the particular teacher had a dubious history and such incidents would not be tolerated. We were perplexed until we discovered that the teacher in question was in possession of potentially highly damaging information that would have been a public exposure disaster to the school and so that explained why the teacher was exonerated and there was a complete offensive stance threatened by the school to us which included veiled threats of a defamation suit. At that point we gave up and withdrew our kids from the school as it was clear where they were coming from and also in such defamation suits in this country,... money determines the victor and therein lies the salt in the wound,... unethical corruption on top of the original offense.

Best advice to the OP might be to have an anonymous note drafted in Thai and deposited where the guard will find it.... basically reading "you've been seen touching kids on the groin and taking advantage. If it happens again you'll be relieved of at least one of your testicles and nobody will know who did it to you,.. including you!"

  3. sounds like a good idea. can honestly say it wouldn't effect my life one iota.

people would find something more productive to do with their time.

remember the 'why dont you...' tv series in the UK?

"sounds like a good idea" ??

Yes,.. but only if its a personal choice to not use such services.

I don't use FB as I don't like it one little bit and see it as a huge time waste and ego trip for narcissists.

Youtube on the other hand is great. A great source of documentaries, information, private news and opinion channels, music clips, concerts, movies... the list is endless and its all free and not controlled by Big Media who are only interested in money and propaganda control.

Twitter I see as a personal waste of time but have to say its a good source of the latest "now" news which is great for all the protests and uprisings as the public and independent journalists can keep up to the minute with real live in the trenches reports.

If my server ever goes down I can always search twitter for #host_t_r and will get an up to minute report of whats happening (even quicker than I can by logging into support and trying to get the truth out of them).

Again.. we had an earth tremor (well it felt like one) a couple of years back in Chiangmai so I search Twitter "earthquake Chiangmai" and yep... within 1 minute ot was flooded with tweets all sharing the same experience and confirming the details... so its a great resource from that perspective!

Whilst women need more protection and rights in Thailand,... for God's sake don't let the feminist NWO UN nutjobs take hold.

Rights for women and feminism has just gone way too far in the west and is one of the major festering problems.

The pendulum has swung too far and yet many within the feminist movement are pushing the parameters!

"Rights for women and feminism has just gone way to far in the west and is one of the major festering problems." Rights for women is not a "festering problem." Gross way to put it. In any case you are missing the real "festering" source of the problem.

    http://i.imgur.com/QNPnRHY.jpg

A typical response from a feminist sympathizer with eyes wide shut! You're evidently a part of the global problem that has done much to split families, disempower fathers and remove their rights as head of the family. I could go on and on but I won't as you evidently don't have the intellect or experience to respond in any kind of meaningful and relevant manner!

Obviously, NOT far enough to make any major changes.

More power to em and keep up the good work especially

    against your particular thought process.

Yeah,.. that's right,.. give them all the power they want and then watch them whinge and push for more and more until the very fabric of family and social balance has been destroyed and until the scales of balance have been tipped so heavily in their direction that eventually nobody will be able to recall there ever being a time when things were balanced and where fairness, ethics, morals and family values were considered to be pillars of virtue.

Apart from the family law and family court issues that this kind of movement points to (its all about legal power and power in the courts) which have gone way beyond what could be considered fair and justifiable, there are many other factors that point to the dangers of radical feminism,- much of which is coming now from women themselves who have stepped back just far enough to see the implications of unchecked and unbridled power when it's excericed out of fear of losing that power and out of the unwillingness for the main power brokers to give up one iota of control!

I personally lost my family in the mid 1990's at the hands of feminist lawyers and a female gender dominated family court system in Australia where the objective of the government is to wield its abusive power to break down the family unit and to control families through welfare dependency and nanny state rule.

That was a system in which women were granted $millions per year for legal aid, counseling, cordoned off private lounges and meeting rooms,... and yet the males got $50,000 per annum (nation wide) and no rights to legal aid. I could go on and on but please don't try to come back and justify that as being fair and balanced because you simply can not!

Feminism is the cancer and it has failed. Failed to produce anything but misery for families on the whole and failed to produce happiness for the women that advocated it and pursued it because they discovered that whilst it had given them job equality, the right to credit for cars and houses, holidays and luxuries (unheard of 40 years ago), it has also alienated them from themselves and trapped them into debt and into a society where marriage and commitment is not longer a surety that young women can look forward to in their youth of 20 -30,... and even then divorce rates are at all time highs and not coming down anytime soon.

Like I said in my original post,... yes Thai women need to have more support and to not have to endure the subjugation and violence that many of them have to endure BUT for crying out loud keep the UN and it's FemiNazi legal mercenaries the hell out as they are hell bent on family derision and their NWO objectives and they couldn't really give a damn about any of the carnage that they create along the way!

  5. Get one of them rockers with an electronic thing on, that will gently bounce him to sleep.

Maybe he had a bit of wind etc...

Put some jam on it. Seriously, I was brought up with five brothers and a sister, and none of us ever had dummies. They are for lazy parents, used just to shut the babys up. Spend some time with them instead.

"They are for lazy parents"... being a bit narrow minded and judgmental aren't we paddy?

That's one thing you can always rely on ThaiVisa forum for,.... opinions of those who are perfect and know everything!

  6. We have 3 boys and only one of them used a dummy.

All babies are different so don't let anyone tell you its right or wrong.

Our 2nd boy would be pacified if he could keep on sucking his mum's finger. So we got him the pacifier and it worked wonders.

Then when he was around 1 year old he just gave it up without any dramas.

Do whatever works,.. and just because you have twins doesn't mean they have the same personalities.

    Congratulations on your new twins!

  7. "The reform is mainly inspired by how students learn to speak Thai at home and later learn to read and write Thai in schools, Mr Chaturon said, adding that from now on, English lessons will be focus more on class interaction to improve student’s communication skills."

Oh,... hallelujah,... this is so obvious its stupid!

I observed this 6 years ago when I was teaching here. Since then it's been discussed many times and identified as the major problem with the way language is taught and studied here and yet only now are they suggesting it as a required urgent overhaul method!

Thailand have been dropping and fumbling the ball now for years,.. all whilst claiming their students and system is of outstanding standard.

Panic times are upon them as they are poised to enter ASEAN and are set to be the laughing stock of their ASEAN country partners.

    Som Nam Na!

  8. some evil landlords out there who will extract the maximum revenge for non payment .

acid on your car for example

but you could expect a visit from the heavy's

Yes there are some evil landlords,... and the general nature of Thai people in business is "don't play fair or be nice when an argument over money erupts"

Sometimes there's a legit reason for not paying the rent.

We took out a 2 year lease with an option to purchase our house. Paid 12 months in advance and then also spent over 320,000 on new kitchen which the landlord assured us would be reimbursed if for whatever reason we didn't exercise the option to buy.

Long story short: within 9 months of the first 12 months started pressuring us really heavily (but not violently) to buy the house. Then 2 months later pretended he'd sold the house to someone else from whom we got a phone call saying he wanted almost double the rent for the second 12 month term and would not reimburse for the kitchen renovation as it was nothing to do with him. We refused to do any business with that guy as we were not contracted with him. It was all BS as he hadn't bought and he disappeared quickly thereafter.

From there a series of meetings with front men and even his lawyer (the first one of 3 others) who actually saw our side of the story when we presented our contract. Following that 3 letters telling us to just get out and that he had "terminated" the contract.

We actually never saw him in person and did not speak via phone as he was cowardly avoiding us,... always it was front men.

So we hired a good lawyer (has teeth,... not a pussy) and he helped us write to the guy and just reinforced our rights and insisting upon financial compensation for the renovation.

Our lawyer told us not to worry about any visits from heavies or cops as all we had to do was make one phone call to him and he'd fix it right up.

Now we're into our first month of not having paid any rent due to the dispute (this was our lawyers advice). We also managed through our lawyer to arrange a brief 15 minute meeting with our landlord and our lawyer where he basically told the landlord,.. "you pay my client a fair compensation for their investment and they wont sue for any other damages and will simply move out in 30 days. You dont pay and they stay until you bring it before the courts".

The landlords response was "OK... I'll pay whats fair after the renovation has been costed out by an experienced builder"

That happens next weekend. We expect his builder may try to devalue the actual costs but even so we'll be happy to get a decent slice of it and move on!

The conclusion here is: If you have a justifiable reason or argument with any landlord then do yourself a favor and get a good lawyer to represent you and make it clear to the other side that any "monkey" business will not be tolerated@!

  9. Some people seem to forget that the poor traffic police have been hit hard financially by the anti government protests. These have been difficult times for them what with having to keep a low profile instead of being out and about collecting fines.

did you forget they get a government salary as well ? all that tea money they collect is just a one of the "perks " of the job smile.png

unless they been living well outside their means im sure a few weeks protest hasnt put them in financially " difficult times "

and if it has then they deserve it

Yes,.. and that salary is Pi$$ poor... that has a lot to do with their motivation for tea money!

  10. I'm only kidding about the violence of course.

Would it be best to have my lawyers draw up a letter refusing consent to any vaccinations - signed by the mother?

I'm absolutely serious when I say I don't want my newborn baby stuck with the hep-b vaccine.

    Don't blame you at all.

We had 3 boys born here in CM and the first two had all the usual shots. Then our 2nd son had a severe reaction to a shot he had at 15 months old and became autistic because of it. He lost mobility, speech, focus, would spend ages looking at the wall and lost his daily glowing responsive smile.

My wife being Thai and totally accepting of regular procedures (especially any that were at government insistence/protocol) wouldn't accept that the shots were at fault until I proved it to her and she started doing her own research and also went through years of us having the provide therapeutic treatment to help our son who is now starting to come back into our world and could be described as having mild autism but nontheless it's there. Now she's an advocate for anti-vaccination of infants and children!

Needles to say that none of them, including the last born has had any shots and nor will they be having any.

Just sharing our experience and full support for anyone opting out of the vaccination scams promoted by Big Pharma and world governments.

  11. The problem is a lot more deep seated than decisions that are made by the Courts.

This goes to corruption within the ranks of those responsible for facilitation such schemes as water management etc which the courts cannot control and which take on a life of their own when being implemented.

Fix the corruption permissiveness culture in Thai society and you will fix the problems.

Until that happens just expect more of the same!

  12. A person who stops to treat another person after a medical emergency or accident can be held liable unless they possess "first responder" certification, it's for that reason that lots of people stand around watching as people die following accidents. Perhaps the issues are related, fear of reprisal, fear of liability?

A valid and relevant point but it wouldn't stop me applying CPR to an unconscious unbreathing person or the Heimlich maneuver to a choke victim or applying a tourniquet to a snake bite despite having no formal qualification apart from basic first aid and life saver training many years ago.

The opportunity and moral obligation to at least try to save a life when you have the required knowledge far outweighs any threat of civil action after the fact. I couldn't stand idle and live with myself afterwards.

I wouldn't hesitate in any such circumstance but I sure would think twice and be prone to turn a blind eye to a one on one male/female altercation in Thailand as often the victim can turn of the saving Samaritan or even worse.

Often these things are part of a complicated symbiotic relationship between a sadist and masochist and/or victim/antagonist and its best to leave them to it. There's a reason why the BIB won't get involved and we should at least appreciate that.

Will the water companies be disconnecting supply or at least announcing when the salinity becomes excessive?

Don't want to pollute our stored supply.

just buy Bottle (mineral water) until such time that its ALL CLEAR.

I am sure a phone call (or personal visit) to your local water plant will tell you precise details.

I once visited the Water Plant (near to Chatuchak) during teh floods (a few years ago)... I wanted to see if there was any flooding in the canals and plant (as I shower from this water).. I was given a really cool tour of the plant and a manager answered pretty much ALL my questions... (from the French building it over 100 years ago,, to How the clean the water,, and how its stored and distributed). I left the compound feeling really good. it was not affected by floods and its a good water plant.

    - it gave Peace of Mind smile.png

if you are using a WATER FILTER at home, then it will not filter-out salt.

I believe that a steam-distillation water filter will do this job????

so,, its best to buy bottle water (for drinking) until such time.

as for your shower, the extra salt isnt gonna be a terrible thing...

if you are paranoid about it, then have a few large (cheap) bottles of bottles of water in your shower to give yourself a final rinse after showering.

If your filter uses ion exchange resin it will filter out salt,... but it will have a rapidly depleting effect on the resin necessitating early replacement.

  14. I think its always best to buy the paint yourself and get a decorator

to paint your house, if they buy the paint they will more often than

not buy the cheapest paint, then water it down, they dont need scaffolding

they just use bamboo poles, and you need to keep a constant eye on the

painters to make sure they do a good job.

    regards Worgeordie

    Good advice.

I was a professional contractor in Australia for 10 years and even there with the strict licensing, the industry is full of cowboys that will use inferior materials,.. thin the paint too much, not clean or prepare (sanding, washing, etc) surfaces before painting and then skimming over with single coat "once-overs" etc etc.

    If using tradesmen here my advice is to tell them that you were a professional painter in your own country many years ago and that you know what a good job requires;

    1) All surfaces dusted down,.. washed with sugar soap or detergent based water and rinsed off,

    2) lightlly sanded and all holes caulked with acrylic.

    3) Followed by 2 coats of premium (unthinned) paint.

Make sure they cut edges with a brush and don't leave roller smudges on ceilings, sills or window frames and that they keep tiles free of drips and thick edges where wall meets floor.

Must admit,.. I have seen some very good paint jobs on quite a few of the new estate developments so if you could get one of those teams on the job you'd probably be quite OK.

  15. If I took a girl to eat and she was more interested in her phone she would be wearing the food.

We went out for a family lunch last week and near to us was a table of "twenty-something" females all having lunch together.

I watched the dialogue and body language which consisted of each one of the five of them being glued to their phones the entire time (about 30 minutes we were there).

There was ZERO conversation between them and just a string of giggles occasionally as they happened on something that amused them.

I imagine that when their lunch was over they said something like "oh yeah... its been great catching up with you guys again,... look forward to the next lunch..bye!"

  16. This is remedied quite easily.

If you're out on a date with your GF or partner and she's glued to the smart phone, you just have to man up and politely remind her that seeing as she's out with you then you'd like to have her attention and conversation and not have to compete with the phone,.. and then ask her to turn it off.

If she won't comply then you simply tell her that if she values the relationship and conversation with her phone over dinner/lunch/coffee then that's fine,.. and then get up and leave her in the solitary and charming company of her electronic companion.

If she switches off the device before you can leave the table then you've just established an important maxim in your relationship. If not,.. leave with a smile on your face and seek another "non-addict" GF in the ever plentiful sea of willing females awaiting your favor!

  17. I've noticed many replies saying you can pick up your car same day or within days and yes this is true if they have you model and color in stock

but what I haven't seen mentioned is the fact that although you can drive it away same day, you won't be driving it away with registration plates.

It's standard practice here that you'll wait 4 to 6 weeks for your plates to arrive (mainly because the dealers are too lazy and uncoordinated to get some office errand boy or girl to attend the motor registry department and make it all happen).

We've bought 2 cars here and its always the same,... all smiles as you hand over the cash and drive away in your plateless vehicle.

They will (perhaps) offer you,.. or you can ask for,- a set of red dealer plates for a fee of 5,000 baht that will cover you for the first month,.. BUT,.. many people don't know that you cant drive at night on them or in the rain ( I kid you not). Something to do with their insurance. That means if you get pulled over by the BIB (Thailand's Plod) you would be fined (not a lot... maybe 400/500 baht) and sent on your way with a smile. Getting into a prang would be a whole different ballgame.

We drove both our new cars without plates for weeks and weeks and only ever got pulled over a couple of times and no fine... except once when we'd driven over the 2,000klm first 30 days limit and had to pay a whopping 400baht. Again the BIB were all smiles and very friendly!... oh BTW,... once you get a 400bht fine for having no plates I think that ticket will cover you for 7 days and then they could whack you again if you got caught a 2nd time (about as likely as getting struck twice by lightning I'd say).

Wishing you all the best for your Thailand adventure.

What is said above is true, belive it or not. Just want to add - if you not have the permanent plates you are not allowed travel to another province with that car.....

Well,... not so sure whether that is so because with both cars we did the round trip to Ubon-Pattaya-KonKhaen-Chiangmai without plates and only stopped once with the second vehicle on the home leg to Chiangmai and copped the 400baht fine (we were at least 1,000klms from home and several provinces away).

Not saying your info isn't legit but its just another wrist slapping penalty.

There may however be stricter rules when on the red plates.

My advice would be just wing it without plates like everyone does,...BUT do make sure you insure the vehicle straight away.

When we buy our next car I have told the wife that we will not be picking it up and paying for it until they have it fully registered. If we have to wait 4 weeks while they get their act together that's fine... but... no plates - no money!
