Have you seen that huge Hotel that was opened for 3 weeks? in 2006-07. I went there and took pictures. A wonderful pool on the third floor. Open air restaurant on the 15 floor. Shopping galore. 3 bars.
The entire place was shut down after 3 weeks.
I paid 200 baht to see the ruins of this place. They built it thinking Burriram Airport would expand. It will----------when the police mafia go to bed!

A before and after photo please. You must say, it looks a lot better than the houses behind it!
-
Any one have a girl or friend from Burriram?----is it still dead end????
Supposedly this is going to be the next Udon Thani. Personally this is the most boring place in Thailand----but the place is bursting with new things!
I have never found them. Marriott's is opening towards the Speedway. That means a New Hotel finally!
Soccer is big there. Don't mention Speed Disco and Bamboo Bar----we all know how to get ripped offf!
When will they tear that 14 story monstrosity----And make a new park!----just to make it more boring!
When will Burriram GROW UP!!!!!

I think this is the start of a wall that will span the length of the beach with toll gates,to allow the tourists to have a lovely quiet laze in the shade, and not get sun-burned.That's what I have been told anyway and I have no reason to doubt it. My congratulations to all concerned in this magnificent structural artifact and for seeing a solution to a long term problem.Hope there is provision for the hordes of forthcoming tourists with heaps of the good old pie carts on the inside. Incidently,I wonder who will be the first one to start the grafiti---- HaHa.Boy am I glad I live a few hundred miles away .
There will be Donkey rides for free for all that enter the Russian area (FREE)----cotton candy and corn fritters for 50 baht.
Also entrance fee's will be half price for the first 10 people!

A true monster. Neither a waterfall or Light show. A huge concrete block. Yuck!
You are correct sir. This wall was corrected with Russia and Swedes in mind. There will be a fountain with LED bulbs. They will turn on during Russian and Swedish Holidays!

j7general, I am 42 and my wife found me medical coverage for 2550 baht a year (only 4 digits, none missing, 2550!). Add to this my international travel insurance and it is still below 10,000bath a year. So yes, she's trying to rip you off.
Would you mind telling me the insurance company?
My insurance is up for renewal soon.
I think I paid about 12,000 for my previous one, but the policy isn't very good.
Thanks friends.

Does it really matter what we give?
In a way it does. Mr. longstebie. I was just asking some advice, that is all sir.

My wife works, and actually earns more than I do. We are legally married, and there has never been any talk of a dowry (and none has been paid.) When I am low on cash, she buys the concert tickets or seize that low airfare deal for me. And this is fair, just as it would be fair for me to help her out likewise should she be washing the dishes in a Thai restaurant in North America. No one in her family has ever begged me or borrowed money. Not all Thai women are after your money. But I guess it helped to learn the language first, meet someone of my own age who had already traveled some (in other words an "equal", with no re-enactment of Pretty Woman, Miss Saigon or whatever.)
Back to the topic, good to see you are a responsible father. Just go secure that insurance policy yourself, and send essentials such as food, clothing, toys and books, or vouchers for such, instead of just handing cash that I doubt would ever translate into your children's actual well-being.
Thanks Scavenger, It has been tough with all the wives and such. All the kids will be taken care off. Its the darn insurance. Just in case they get sick I have all my wives covered---its just this new one--------In Thailand. seems a bit steep.
As a man you would agree1------10,000 baht a month for health insurance for a healthy 27 year old is rough!
-
35 K THB is more than enough,in fact too much ,you are spoiling her,
its a pity you have a kid with this woman,or i would say dump her now.
I would not care what she called me, Cheap Charlie, really she will be
thinking your stupid farang, but of course not saying to your face.
regards worgeordie
Thanks Worgeordie, I was just feeling down. a fool maybe. Thanks.

Join the queue its a long one...........and no 35,000 baht is not enough up it to 50,000 and she will lub you for ever
Thanks for the advice. It's just trying to stop the lubbing!

Either you are a little simple or you are having us on here.
I'm sure you know very well, how much money is needed a month, so please do not insult our intelligence.
I was more interested in how much Health Insurance would be in my situation. Costas, if anyone you might know?

Is it just me?
My wife has never asked me for a single Baht!
I pay the rent and bills etc, pay to take her small family to a modest restaurant occasionally and that's it!
Her salary is low, but she's never asked me for money, even when I offer to pay for things like repairing her bike, more often than not she'll refuse.
Very rarely I give her mother 2-3,000 but that's like every few months.
Your very lucky sir. In my situation it is quite the opposite. I should have swerved away when I saw her. Unfortunately we have a child together, and I can not let her go with no food and clothes.

Looking at things it is just me. I was curious about health insurance for the ex and the kids. Anyone have an idea? She says 30,000.00 for three months.
Having health insurance is a good idea I thought. She got sick again!------wanted 1,000,000.00 baht and said the insurance will pay later.
In the USA insurance pays up front? I am so confused!
-
I was wondering about the health insurance.
I am happy to pay 35,ooo baht a month beyond the health insurance. 120,000.00 a year seems steep for Thailand!
-
I just waited to ask, how much do give every month to your "Loved one"?
Its now beginning a hardship with 80,000--200,000 baht a month. I told her to get a job. She calls me a cheap charlie and <deleted>.
Her family is always dying or are sick and need money
I cant keep this up---or I will be broke!
My friends say disconnect the phone. We have a child together. I wouldn't mind 30,000 a month. I pay insurance for her and 2 kids, she say's 30,000.00 for 3 months ---I do not believe her! How much is insurance for a 27 year old with 8 and 11 year old?-----not 10,000.00 baht a month!
Is 35,000 baht sufficient?
Thanks Thai pals!

This crappy food is super pricey!-------------Singapore is not for the cheap charlies--like myself
You better have around 200-300 US a day to get by---not including hotel. Rank hotels are 125.00 US a night---and they are rank!------no towels or parking.
Singapore sucks------
-
Dude, every single damn thing is expensive in Singapore. Just choose Thailand and you will be much happier.
Singapore is like 10 times more than Hong Kong.

It is super expensive! 12 US dollars for a McDonald Hamburger---truly the most prices are outrageous! 40 bucks for ciggs!-----18 US for a beer! why go there?

Outside of rent, Singapore is not that expensive & I'm sure your Filipina would prefer it there (I know mine does).
With an Employment Pass (NB not Work Permit/S Pass), she can get a Dependents Visa even if you're not married as long as you can show evidence of cohabiting.
Have you calculated the difference in take-home pay (Tax is very low in Singapore, check out http://www.iras.gov.sg) to see if the difference is really as much as you think it might be.Singapore is an option. I love to know more about the visa situation there, if yiu wouldnt mind PM ing me.
Singa pore is very expensive. I have not been there for years.

I spent last November & December in Burma again, on a film project.
Flew from Mandalay to Putao...excellent flight in a small twin turbo.
Like others have said...there's no need to retrace your steps. Burma
is safe. The people are very friendly. The food's a bit strange but good
and both Myanmar & Dagon beer is OK by me.
Go have fun.
Thanks Sunshine.
No problems, in fact easy, unlike the Thailand BULLSHIT!---Scams.
Burma is going to be the NEW Thailand!

Why do you talk in American dollars when you work in London < we have Solicitors not layers.
He was talking ""lawyers""---Layers are East Coast Lawyers---or lairs. We get you out of trouble. Give us enough money-----we will get you out of anything!
Whats up with Burriram?

Nothing but BIG-C. T!he most boring place on earth---built for nothinness.
Burriram has nothing besides a Tesco and Big-C.
There is a Pizza place though and 2 7-11"s
this place sucks-------There is no nightlife unless your a wanna be Mafia dude or a glory girl----which means BKK for the girls!----for the boy's===Lady man in Pattaya!
Why---Mafia-------all these girls go to Pattaya, Phuket, and lucky ones go to BKK!---Auge farm!----FARM for girls!
