  1. Hi folks,

Slightly different but similar enough situation here - my new UK passport was issued via VFS here in Bangkok. I've just spent several hours at CW getting my Non-O marriage extension transferred into the new passport, but they did not transfer the multiple re-entry permit.

They directed me to desk C2 for that, but it was already closed by the time my other stamps were transferred at 5.30pm.

Can I transfer the existing re-entry permit at BKK next time I leave the country, or do I need to return to CW? Or can I just show the old passport next time I fly out, along with the new one?

    Thanks!

Could make a difference if you need to apply for your next annual extension before the first 90-day report after your return to Thailand falls due. This is because CW, I gather, now require to see latest 90-day "next date" notifications in considering annual extension of stay applications.

Good point, but thankfully that's a long way off - I'll have done another two by then.

  3. My 90-day report (first one at my new address) was also rejected today, Thursday November 2, after submitting it online a couple of weeks ago.

I'm busy all day tomorrow, Friday November 3, there's no way I can get to immigration in person at this short notice (email arrived after close of business today).

The report was due by October 29, I submitted mine on October 19 and got the initial receipt email, but nothing further until today.

Last day I can do it in person, as I understand it, is this Sunday November 5.

However I'm flying out of Thailand that morning, and they're not open at weekends anyway.

    What's the likely outcome here?

Based in Bangkok on a Non-O marriage extension if that makes any difference.

  4. Thanks for all the responses.

Went to immigration at CW this morning, as I leave for the UK next week - and decided on just doing the regular 1-year application rather than doing a 60-day first.

Everything went fine until they gave me the "under consideration" stamp with a return date of June 2nd, which is 3 weeks today - a couple of days before I'm due to arrive back in Thailand.

I explained that I'll be outside the country then, and they told me they need a printout of my air ticket. Fortunately I had that on my phone, and was able to print off a copy downstairs. I then had to write down the purpose of my visit and the dates on the printout.

My "under consideration" stamp was then amended with a new return date of June 20th.

Only downside was that took so long, I had no time left to apply for a re-entry permit (well, I was at the queue counter just before 3.30pm, but they'd already closed).

I *had* a multiple re-entry permit on my annual extension, but I believe I need a fresh one for my new "under consideration" extension. I'll now need to do that at the airport before I fly, unless anyone thinks it's a better idea to return to CW.

In both cases, you must get a re-entry permit after the new stamp in your passport. If eligible for the 60-day extension, maybe that would be better, just in case of your return being delayed for any reason. However, I would discuss the options with the immigration office. Maybe, they can make arrangements to get you the one-year extension before you leave if you apply for the one-year extension as early as possible and explain the situation.

I was under the impression that I can only apply within 30 days of expiration - do you think it's worth going in earlier?

I know my wife needs to attend for a one-year extension application. If I can get the 60 day extension without her needing to take a day off work, that would tip the scales in favour of that option...

  6. Hi,

Just booked a trip to the UK - it's to attend a family event, so really can't change the dates.

My current 1-year non-O marriage extension is due to expire a few days after I'm due to leave Thailand.

If I go to immigration a few days before leaving (within 30 days of expiration), I believe they'll give me an "under consideration" stamp, with a return date of four weeks later, which should be after I'm due to return.

Can I leave and re-enter on this stamp?

Or is it better to apply for a 60-day marriage extension before leaving instead?

Would either option require a new re-entry permit? Does my wife still need to attend the initial application in either case?

Are there any other options I haven't thought of, besides just letting it expire and starting afresh with a new visa application in the UK?

You can apply up to 45 days early at Chaeng Wattana.

Remember if using the 400k baht in the bank option you will have to keep it in the bank until you return to get your extension stamp.

    No changes to the requirements.

Thanks - so the actual expiry date is the deadline?

I do plan to go earlier, just curious - if I were to apply for an extension on the actual expiry date, I assume they'd still process it, with a bit of grumbling along the way?

No problem on the money front, I moved it between banks back in January but it'll stay where it is indefinitely now.

Sorry for delay but True Internet been out all morning.  You should fill out the normal TM47 and have last receipt for 90 day reporting along with your passport to let them view.  This is still being done at Muang Thang Thani AFAIK - only the tourist visa desk returned to CW.

Yup, 90-day reporting is still at Muang Thong Thani - was just there today.

Do note that they're closed for Songkran Mon-Thu next week though.

Most agents include the 90-day reporting in their overall fee for an annual extension.

Haven't seen any mention recently of agents who will just do a 90-day report. Believe they ran into issues with the TM30 requirement.

Not sure you'd be "happy" with an agent anyway: giving up your passport for a week, or more.

    [snip]

Your employer should understand that this requirement to file a 90-day report is mandatory, and they should facilitate this in any way possible. Giving you time off to do this seems reasonable. And then next time I'd plan on filing early, by post.

Thanks for the first genuinely helpful reply on the topic. Makes sense, and explains why nobody has any useful recommendations!

And yes - I've already bitten the bullet and organised taking my "due date" off work to do it in person. Will definitely prep for the mail-in next time around.

You asked "How to engage".  I tried to help.

Won't bother next time as clearly you want someone to come round your house, pick up your documents, file your report and return the slip to you.  Good luck with that.

Correct, that's exactly what I want. Would happily have paid a few thousand for such a service.

But apparently such a thing doesn't exist, or at least nobody can recommend one.

So I've reorganised my work schedule and will now go in person instead.

    Procedure and notification

    1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or
    2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or
    3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.
    4. The notification must be made within 15 days before or after 7 days the period of 90 days expires.

Amazing, that's the sixth vague response to my complaing about how vague the responses to this always are. Contact "another person". Sure - what's his number?

Try a bit harder ,like the one,s that advertise here for a start.

    I use an adblocker, I'm not a savage ????

Why not just name them? Why the secrecy?

That's four different people now who've replied to my "top secret" observation to tell me it's easy, and yet none of them have been able to give me a website link, or phone number, or even a name...

I have never used but as said any visa agent should be happy to do and expect they could be found with Google.  Have seen reports of hospitals offering service on pay basis also.  Many send their wife.  But when online working most people can do themselves in only a few minutes.

I'm not giving my passport to some random guy who shows up in a Google result.

People always say it's possible, but nobody ever has a specific recommendation. See, top secret! ????

But yeah, hopefully the site will be back up by the 9th and I'll be able to do it that way. It's always worked for me before, hopefully it won't be down for much longer. Fingers crossed. Cheers!

Not sure what is top secret or why you would need to call or email anyone.  AFAIK 90 day reporting does not require any appointment if that is what you are thinking.   Mailing requirements are outlined on web site.

I was responding to "You can have someone else make report for you".

Seen it claimed many times, never seen a single pointer on how to engage with such services. I'd happily pay right now to arrange for a guy to come to my place on a motorbike tomorrow and collect my passport, go deal with all the paperwork, and bring it back with the receipt.

Lots of people enthusiastically tell us that this is possible. Nobody ever says how.

  15. Bit confused here. Mine's due on April 9th, so the first day I could submit online was last Friday 26th.

Went to do so, and found the site down, then eventually found my way over here where I learned it's been down for a while now.

Also learned that the only other way to avoid going to MTT myself would be to submit by mail, the deadline for which I now know had already passed 24 hours earlier.

I'll wait until the 9th in the vain hope that the site comes back, but then in theory I can go in person up to 6 days after that (15th) without getting fined, right?

But are Immigration even open between the 9th and the 15th, or am I out of luck there with the extended Songkran holiday? What's my final deadline here?

Edit: Ah, tried to make an appointment online and April 12-15 are all holidays. It'll let me attend on the 16th, but that's 7 days past my due date. Would my attending on the 16th require a 2,000 baht fine?

You will not get another "under consideration" stamp.  You'll get your approval.  Probably too late now for a home visit, so I think you're good. (all the above is my opinion, but likely correct)

You were absolutely correct, just to follow up there.

I'm not sure if they never showed up for the home visit, or if they came while we were out, or what. We never heard from them, and it wasn't mentioned at all on my return.

I got my full 1-year stamp, and even got the multiple re-entry permit done too, all before the lunchtime shutdown.
