  1. I need to renew the tyres (run flat) on my car and would like to know if anyone has a place they can recommend in the Pattaya area. There's a big shop with bright yellow signs right next to Big C south Pattaya that seems quite busy so I thought I might try them. Also, if anyone has any advice re. the purchase of run-flat tyres that would be most welcome.
  2. Well that's a bummer. So I need to get non-O visa and start again then I suppose.
  3. So what are my options if I have to go out of Thailand more that 30/45 days before renewal date is due? PS. I meant to say in my OP "next year", not "this year".
  4. This year I will be away from Thailand when the annual renewal is due so my question is; how far in advance can I do the extension and does it change the renewal date to whatever date I go and do it?
  5. A mate in the UK has bought an Amazon fire stick that he's had recoded(?) so that it can show basically anything that's being streamed. Will the stick work if he brings it to Thailand?
  6. Assuming you live in Thailand at all are you so whipped that you'd rather go the excruciating marriage extension route than the retirement route? Note to self; use the poster OJAS's post as a reminder to not EVER become one of those sad little keyboard Gollums.
  7. So I went to my usual agent (in Pattaya) to check if the cost and procedure was the same as last year and they said that due to "new immigration boss" only Bangkok Bank accounts could be used if I went the "no 800k in the bank" route. Shew also said BB charge 5500 Baht if I didn't have a letter from Immigration. Stupidly enough I didn't ask if it was the residence certificate she referred to. Anyone know if that is the case and if opening a BB account is a straight forward affair? I'm living here on a Non-O with a retirement extension and am married and in possession of a yellow house book.
  8. Thanks. Same question to you; do you know if they repair units as well?
  9. Thanks, does he repair units as well as clean them?
  10. Thanks, do they repair units as well as clean them?
  11. The guy I've used for years isn't answering his phone anymore so would like to ask if anbyone can recommend a company? I very much want to avoid the type that surprises you with a bill of hundreds of Baht for "refilling gas".
  12. Just had a look at some threads and Wizz TV was recommended by several. Any recent experiences using this site?
  13. I've just had a falling out with my service supplier and cancelled my subscription. Can anyone please recommend a supplier they're satisfied with in the Pattaya area? Edited to add that I'm mainly interested in English football and also require Scandinavian channels to be included.
  14. And just to put things in perspective what are their combined fortunes? About 115 bn $. Seem to me these "dinosaurs" (unlike you) can walk the walk, not only talk the talk.
  15. Thanks for the replies. I have lived in Thailand for many years so am aware of the culture wrt the elderly. I have of course done a Google search of possible facilities in the area but recommendations from people who have real life experience is always valuable. Based on what I've found it seems like a visiting or full time nurse/caretaker is a viable option in our particular situation.
  16. You're stating the obvious but since I'm sure I'm not the only foreigner in this situation I thought it was worth a try. I might have been wrong.
  17. She can walk, although with some degree of difficulty. Her hearing is going but so far little cognitive issues. As I said in the OP we're looking for an assisted living facility. By that I mean a place where she can live and get regular meals and have a caretaker present at the facility 24/7, although not necessarly a nurse on stand-by. We haven't really discussed price so all tips/suggestions welcome. PS. We're definitively looking for a privatly operated place.
  18. My mother-in-law is at an age where she needs 24/7 assistance so would like to know if someone can recommend an assisted living facility in the Pattaya area.
  19. My 90 days reporting is due in the middle of next month according to the slip in my passport but I just renewed my "retirement visa" so do I stick with the original reporting date or count 90 days from the date of the extension renewal?
  20. I was thinking of Rayong City.
  21. We're a few guys planning a trip down to Rayong and don't know anything about the nightlife down there. Tips on bars, areas, places to stay (close to the nightlife) would be most welcome.
  22. So my house is now 16 years old and the roof tiles have started cracking. Got a contractor that's due to paint the roof (clean, prime, 2 top coats) and claims this will fix the problem for 5-10 years. Anyone out there that's been through this and has any advise to share?
  23. Sure, if you're fit enough to climb up on the roof. I'm not.
