Does anybody know of any company which offers travel insurance and Covid cover 20,000$US etc for over 74 year olds? Sawasdee Axa and Luma both only go up to 74. Mother aged 83 arriving in 3 weeks. Need a policy which provides cover and satisfies Thai pass regulations. I have looked around but can't find one. Thanks for any advice

I'm not sure if this counts from AXA Thailand.
Covid-19 > Is medical expense for COVID-19 treatment in “Field Hospital” and “Hospitel” covered?
Yes. Medical expenses incurred in facilities designated as “Field Hospital” and “Hospitel” by the Ministry of Public Health for treating COVID-19 patient is covered.Covid-19 > If I am tested positive for COVID-19 but I don’t have any symptom. Will AXA pay for the medical expense?
AXA will cover for outpatient and inpatient medical expense incurred based on medical necessity and following the guideline published by Ministry of Public Health. For hospitalization, AXA uses a combination of factors including symptoms, age and underlying medical conditions to determine if the hospitalization is medically necessary. Only medically necessary inpatient expenses will be covered by AXA.
It's still a bit vague but it seems they might. I haven't looked at the "guidelines published by the Ministry of Public Health"
So does anybody know if AXA is ok and can recommend? Thanks. Got 15 people coming for a beach wedding in Samui in April and would like to recommend a good policy

I would love to be able to believe these figures showing a rapid daily decline in cases and deaths. Like everyone, I do hope they are accurate. However, 35 plus years in this country have taught me to take everything those in charge say with the tiniest grain of salt.

Not slim. Just none

Thank you benevolent Chinese Communist Party guvamint. We look forward to doing more business in the future.
Yep, nowt wrong with Sinovac. Better to have some protection than none and so far, there havent been any reports of negative reactions to it. Unlike some if the other brands out there

Open question - if your place of work offered you and your Thai spouse a first jab each of Sinovac next week, with second jab at the end of next month, would you take it? Free of charge. Not enforced, the decision is yours. Alternative is to try and make your own arrangements ...

Would you rather it be 20,000?
Well no, of course not. I'd rather it be honest and realistic, that's all.

Well I never. With boring predictability, we are asked to believe there are roughly 2,000 cases again ????

Amazing how consistent the numbers are.
It's almost as if they are being managed to ensure they are high enough to scare people into taking the required precautions, but not so high as to lose face in the international community and jeopardize a quick return of tourism.
I wonder what the real numbers are.
Yes, agreed. Worryingly and infuriatingly consistent. Like we have the most unpredictable and aggressive virus the world has seen, but in Thailand it just happens to be around 2,000 cases a day, every day. Or so we are asked to believe. What an absolute load of b***ocks

I've taken three flights with them since the Phuket airport reopened. They are currently not allowing online check in so you have to get your boarding pass at the airport ticket counter. That is odd since a mobile boarding pass would reduce the need to speak with a check in agent, but it does allow them to weigh your hand carry luggage and charge you if it's over 7 kg. Mine was 7.6 once and 7.4 another time and I was ok, but if you get to 8 kg, I imagine you'd be charged.
As with the other carriers right now, there is zero service on the plane from the flight attendants, and no food or drinks for sale.
All of my flights have departed and arrived early. That's mostly because there is zero congestion at the airport (in Phuket there is usually only one plane on the ground at a time) so planes immediately take off and land.
That's good to know. Thanks very much

Nothing wrong with vietjet ... used them many times. What are you concerned about ?
Don't expect 5 star service from a budget airline that's all.
Your choices are limited now with covid & AA in trouble.
If the reviews you read are so bad then just forget them and look elsewhere.
Is this your big trip for the year.
Vietjet has been awarded the highest ranking for safety with 7-stars since 2018. It is a fully-fledged member of International Air Transport Association (IATA) with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate and technical reliability rate standing at 99.64%
Not at all concerned about the service onboard or the state of the aircraft but I would like to get to Phuket and back with the family without flight delays or cancellations if at all possible. Several recent reviews in this respect are not positive. Unfortunately there are not many other options for flying to Phuket right now

I used them for about 30 flights a year with weekly flights there and back to Phuket...Chiang Rai.
They are ok, most are A320 aircraft brought over from Vietnam. I agree with the poster above.
Thanks for the feedback. Although all the online reviews are very scathing and say no to touch them, these were written a couple of months ago. Maybe as it's quieter now, their service may be better. Might just risk it ...

I used them a few days ago from Chiang Rai - BKK, flight left 15min before scheduled time. No issues to report.
Take care with there hidden costs, when you book online uncheck all the boxes for additional charges, they also charge extra to select your own seat preference.
Thanks for the feedback. The reviews online look dreadful! I'm just wondering how many domestic travellers are flying with them these days, and whether to expect issues with Covid, social distancing etc. I suppose if they have fewer passengers, there might be fewer delays ...

Does anyone have any recent experience of flying with Thai Viet Jet? Positive or negative feedback, Covid related issues or delays? Looking to fly to and from Phuket with them next week possibly ...

The figures point to it being even less dangerous than common flu with less deaths than a common seasonal flu around the world.
We have all been fooled folks, it's not a complete hoax but it sure has been blown waaaay out of proportion - ask yourself, are we going to do this again when next year's seasonal flu comes around ?? Are people really that stupid ? Use your grey cells.
Wonder what this is really all about - anyone have any ideas?
There is no such thing as Covid-19 but ..... wait ....
The figures point to it being less dangerous blahblahblah
Point to what being less dangerous? Oh ... yeah ... Covid-19 which , errr. doesn't exist ...
Excellent. Without doubt the most vacuous remarks I have heard all year.
