  1. I'm looking to change insurance brokers (I'm not happy with the customer service of my current broker who is not in Chiang Mai).  I have a policy with AIG on a 'city car' with a premium under 9K THB.  I'd like to maintain the policy renewal at the current premium rate, but not through the broker that has provided the policy in the past.

I'm looking for a reputable broker in Chiang Mai who can provide good customer service as well as continuing the AIG policy renewal.

Mods.  I know there is an 'insurance forum' but this query is specific to Chiang Mai.

  2. Here is what I want to know?

    WHY?

Why are there not reliable OTC tests for "The Flu."
Why are there not reliable OTC tests for "A Cold."
Why are there not reliable OTC tests for pneumonia."
Why are there not reliable OTC tests for Dengue."
Why are there not reliable OTC tests for salmonella as well as all the other gastrointestional pathogens."
Why are there not reliable OTC tests for all of the other things that have the potential to "kill you?"

    Why only tests for "Covid?"
And why are only Covid statistics hyped?

    Just wondering?

  3. I just hope that world governments will make us all live in 15 minute cities and make car driving illegal except for the wealthy and government elite and their functionaries. Only corporate and government vehicles should be allowed, and all commercial jet traffic should be banned except for private jets and military. The public needs to stop driving, stop flying, stop taking vacations, stop eating meat, and stop eating rice (https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/06/how-rice-is-hurting-the-planet/), and turn to soy and lab grown solutions endorsed by the WEF, as well as stop having children, and tithe the government at least 10% to 50% of your income to fight global warming.  Personally I think that people should volunteer to "check out" early in order to allow the useful segments of society to function. All those useless CO2/Methane producing plebs should be forced to limit their lifespans to save the Earth which will end as we know it by 2030 if drastic solutions are not embraced.  Those who no longer are useful should volunteer to end their lives early to save the planet like all retirees.

  4. I'm sort of at my wits end with trying to find a luthier or guitar repair in Chiang Mai.
(Mods - please don't dump this back into the Chiang Mai forum as I've tried to sort this out there without success).

So I'm now looking to try to find a luthier or guitar repair anywhere in Thailand as trying to find one in Chiang Mai has been a wash-out.  I have had a number of people look at my guitars, fiddle around with them, charge me money, and not fix this issues.  Face-saving seems to be a real issue.  If someone says they fixed the problem (like intonation or fret buzz) and you put the guitar on a tuner and show them it's not fixed, then you get a smile and a "No Problem.  Guitar sound good. ฿400 please!"  But they don't fix the problems.  I'm speaking from experience.

I've also had a number of people tell me to go to YouTube to learn to do it myself.  Ok.  I've done that and I can't.  Bad eyesight make it almost impossible."
Plus even with the videos, I really don't know what I'm doing.  "If you do THIS, than it will correct THAT problem."  But it doesn't - then what?  I'm tired of trying to do this on my own.   There are a ton of electric guitars in Thailand, and yet?  Who can set them up with they don't work correctly?

I need someone who knows how to setup and/or repair electric guitars.
If I have to?  I'll pack the guitar up and ship it to a qualified luthier if I can find one in Thailand.

So I need suggestions regarding where to find a good guitar repairman / luthier here in Thailand - one who speaks English.

It really is frustrating to have two guitar, both which have fret buzz and intonation problems that are beyond my ability to fix (as well as number of 'guitar techs' I've gone to in Chiang Mai who can't fix the issues either).

  5. The billionaires driving this insanity have beachfront properties globally.

If the sea levels were expected to rise significantly?  You would not be able to insure your beach-front property no less acquire title insurance on the property.  And yet?  Billionaires, Millionaires, and their government clones who do their bidding have - beach-front properties and properties in the low-lying areas they we are being expressly told are going to be flooded.

If a city like Bangkok was going to be under water in the next 20, 30, 50, 100 years - there would be a MASS Exodus.

    But there isn't.

If there was really a existential threat of sea level rises, the insurance companies would be first in line to shut down all forms of insurance for these properties. You would see all the cities near the coasts literally discriminate as businesses, private entities, as well as public entities would not be able to insure their properties.  And yet?  No problem

    Hello? Wake up clones.

  6. I'll get back with the reason I'm asking this.  It has something to do with changes with a VPN company I've been with for 6 years, but it looks like they made major changes to the VPN nodes in countries they used to service (days ago) plus they changed their subscription service without notifying me.  I'm sorta not happy about that and due for a renewal soon.

    Similar for me.
But the case in the OP is different as announced for Tuesday.

I sent EUR to Bangkok Bank, purpose for long stay and receive next weekday at 2:xx PM.

When I send on Friday it is Monday.

But as others wrote coming Monday March 6 is a public/bank holiday.

I am fortunate enough that I don't drain my funds to zero, so a day or two doesn't hit me.

I sent on last Friday March 3rd.  I received it today, March 9th after 2pm.  Transfer to SCB using the Wise code - 'for long-term stay in Thailand'.

Here is the message I received from SCB (without my account or amount - but under 200K THB):

There is a transfer of money xxxx baht from SAWASDEESHOP, account X-1661, SCB bank into account X-nnnn date 09/03/2023 @14:01 via ENET

    WTH is SAWASDEESHOP???

I'm going to have a long, hard discussion with Wise support.

I've ask Wise to trace the transfer and give me a reason for the delay.  SAWASDEESHOP - really?  What the h***.  Where does a firm called SAWASDEESHOP fit into the Thai banking system?
