  4. Once we were with all company staff on a trip and had some games on the bus. Who can show the most credit cards? I was sure I was going to win as I had my personal and company cards all together maybe 5-6. But I remember I even did not make the top 3. The winner had 9 and she was working in the administration.. 7. This is also what customs told me, if you go to the red line, you can leave your over the limit volume at the red line and you avoid the hefty fine. But you don’t have the possibility to pay import tax and keep the over the limit alcoholic drinks. They also don’t make a differentiation between strong alcoholic drinks or low. 1 liter is the maximum whatever alcohol%. Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  8. Nuclear energy is THE solution for now. Constant energy without air pollution or CO2. Many many more people die because of coal burning related health effects. Bill gates spent billions of USD to develop, built and test a safe nuclear plant. He is the one who deserves a Nobel price for the eradication of polio and so many other humanitarian projects. He should bring Warren Buffett along because he also donated over 40 Billion to the “Bill and Melinda Gates foundation”. These are the heros of our time and not a puber with mental issues. If 20y ago the green movement would not have boycotted nuclear energy, we would not have global warming today! Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

  10. Indeed these stories are rather the exception than the rule but eventually it will be picked up by the media and from there on the downward unstoppable spiral will be very problematic for Thailand. This combined with the slagging economy and the antique politics can’t compete with booming countries like Malaysia, Vietnam Myanmar etc.. I regularly travel to Cam Ranh(vietnam) direct flight from Don Mueang. They are building maybe 50 resorts at the same time a few kms from the airport. If Thailand doesn’t adjust their strategy they will loose big on tourism. Don’t forget they already lost the the textile industry, the shrimp business and now the car industry starts to move out. It will be quiet here within 5-10y Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect

  12. I understand you want to buy a second hand car. - once the car becomes 7y old you will have to bring it to the yearly car inspection - if you put the car on your wife’s name consider it as a gift, no need to worry about possible complications when the relation ends. - buy a second hand car from an official dealer, most have a section with certified second hand cars with warranty. 13. Just landed in Suvarnabhumi airport, went swiftly through immigration and customs. I bought 2 bottles of Champagne in Dubai (75cl each both packed together in the same carton) When I already passed customs and was in the arrival hall, I was stopped by a customs officer and had to follow him to the office. They told me I was allowed only 1 bottle. So both bottles were confiscated plus fine approx 10.000 THB or 10 times the import tax. I could talk my way out but I just wanted to warn TV members to be careful when you bring in alcoholic beverages. Even if you would go to the red line you are not allowed to take more than one bottle but you can avoid the fine by keeping 1 bottle but the rest will be confiscated.
