Thailand’s government and the state Election Commission have agreed to hold new general polls on July 20.
The Commission announced the date after meeting on Wednesday with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and other officials.
Thailand held a general election on February 2 after Ms. Yingluck dissolved Parliament’s Lower House in response to protests calling on her to step down. The Constitutional Court nullified the election in late March because it failed to be held according to law after the protesters disrupted the registration process and voting.

What is wrong have had many and some things can not be fixed ... Buy new bag of rice and when you open it put nano in center and seal it air tight . Then take it out in 7 to 10 days ... Even if it not get wet condensation kills them here then they stop but this almost always brings it back unless it's one side out or something . Let me know what generation it is and what's wrong maybe I can help . Great device especially old ones that could shoot video .

Reporting back a little late as all the agencies I have been two have no problem with my one year license but no one has truck or SUV because of holiday after investigating yesterday and today . This is they say one of the times they are lowest on inventory . Looking at accident statistics last few days and watching ambulances racing around Bangkok possibly a blessing they not have the kind of car I want to rent long term until abound the 22st . Thanks for all the replies , all of the tests I took to get license and just looking at driving and drivers in Thailand has been great opportunity in giving me even more awareness in safety as I walk around as pedestrian . I have and would never ride or take motorcycle taxi after my friend was paralyzed when someone ran a stop sigh and was one reason I got car license bypassing motorcycle permit . For all of those on motorcycles be safe ! And thanks for all the replies .

" I never had a problem renting a car with my initial 1 Year Thai MDL. I now have the 5 year variety but I rented a couple of cars previously and then bought a couple in my name and showing my Thai MDL. "
Thanks for this post and I will check with several rent car companies in the morning as they may vary in qualification and report back with a post .

Thanks for all the replies I will go visit the rental agency's in the morning before I go to car dealership and purchase new car but had wanted to rent a month before buying but whatever works and is legal . Read that after living here so long one was required to get Thai license so that's why I did . Playing by all the rules here has been real good move for me always and really feel fortunate to be able to live in this country .

Just took driving and written test in Bangkok and got one year temporary Private Car license : This licence is issued to those who have successfully completed the written & driving test. This licence is valid for a period of one year and at end of period driver can apply for 5 year and international license . My question is with valid passport and credit card in my name am I now able to rent car in Thailand at and establishment like Budget with the one year temporary license ? Not sure if rental companies consider this license adequate for rental agreement ? Any help would be appreciated and also any suggestions on what is best company to rent pickup truck or SUV in downtown Bangkok especially long term . Thanks !

Thanks so very much , going for just the car . I will PM you to see what would be fair to have wife help if possible . The place was packed and staff seemed rushed and irritated before I knew it new group was in there and when instructor saw me still sitting waiting to try again he told me to leave room . Thanks for your time writing such long reply

I saw that when I came home , but thank you for your post . Really looking for the best options going further so I not run in to more hidden challenges like the one that was encountered this morning so when I go again my chances of success are better . It was a great opportunity to get practice in patience and I am grateful for it all .

Went to the office near Bang Chak BTS few weeks ago and was given date of today to show up at 7:30 and take the written and driving test . After about an hour of feeling quite in the dark I found myself in a room with about 25 others taking the color test with reaction test and eye test . I got through all these tests and then it came to the depth perception test and did not understand exactly what to do and how controls worked. The Thai staff got irritated and another group was waiting outside to come in and they just told me to leave . Feeling quite let down I walked around to see if I could get help but no one really spoke English and my Thai is very little . The place was packed and after weeks of getting resident documents and and appointment for test and getting up early this morning to be there had hit a wall so to speak . I gave up and traveled back to my condo as no one would help ?
I not know anyone to take and help me who could translate and now guess I must go back and get another date to take but very confused on what to do different . Does anyone have any advice at this point or someone I could hire to help translate if I do go back . Was really looking forward to driving and renting cars in Thailand when I travel . I have lived here for years but never went through the trouble of getting license when my one from the states expired and I threw it out . The office out near Bang Chak BTS was a very gloomy scene this morning packed with Thais and hardly a smiling face and felt the longer I stayed there looking for help with no one to translate the more problems I may encounter later so just took all my paperwork with me and left . Any help or ideas would be appreciated . Not sure if I should try a different office as everything was started where I went this morning but sure don't look forward to returning to this location for third time . First visit was told I needed to wait and given the appointment for today and now not sure what to do or where to go .

Looks like this weekend park going to become even more of a hub for the protestors . I see them setting up many new stalls, speakers ( that blast through the night ) and bringing in more tour busses and groups . Full on city in a city in there now and hard to estimate how many live in there now as almost nowhere to even set up tent and getting full up . At one point I was still running and just stayed to one side of park where there were not so many cars , people and smoking but now those areas are also filled up today . Possibly something big planned for this weekend ?

We are loosing a wonderful park and one of the few retreats in this crowded and often dirty city . Even if protestors left today it would be years for this once oasis to heal .

Well said Ricklev , and feel same way . Today as I walked across park to get to MRT the cars and motorcycles we're zooming in both directions and cigarette smoking everywhere . So many other things I could comment on but your reply sums it up and I feel like the island in the storm of this busy and at times smoggy city is now no longer the getaway but the place to stay away from if one wants to run because jogging path is now just another busy street . Said too much already and want to keep describing conditions but your post says it all , thanks . I wish them all well and remind myself it's not my country and very much belongs to Thai people so I work just being grateful for what we all had not what has been lost .

After walking through park yesterday not really understand ( even a little ) how state of emergency could be lifted after what I witnessed and what is possible now with so many living in this lawless new village that was once one if the most stellar parks on earth . Even walking around that whole area outside of park passing soldiers walking everywhere and searching people and cars I could not believe government is lifting emergency decree . Seems stage is set for same thing that brought the setting or much worse . My guess it's a quick fix for tourism but this lawless park situation just increased possibilities by having all protestors in one place where they seem to have more power ? Hey , I guess I seem to know almost nothing but miss the park I moved to be close to once oasis in heart of big city and start running and getting fit in great place . It was magic for awhile with lap pool, air conditioned gym ( for 40 bhat membership a year ! ) and 2.5 mile jogging path . I just walked over there yesterday to see if even safe to start running again as emergency conditions lifted by government but nothing changed there but foul smell of toilets stronger and even more trash floating in pond with crowd looking like they found new PERMEANT HOME ( how will they ever get people to leave ?? ( free food electricity , water and place to put tent . Everything changes ...

Lots of cars and motorcycles on jogging path going in both directions . If this persists then possibly putting in some lights at the different intersections on the jogging path would be in order . Pool , tennis courts and gym closed also . The little hut where the park guards use to sit has now been converted to a stand to buy cigarettes and lighters . Everything changes with nothing staying the same but change I guess .

I guess that since the Minister of Tourism and Sports is begging the caretaker government to lift the State of Emergency Decree, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is also begging for tourists to come and visit an area that is totally unsafe.

I will ask him about the full time or part time and I just wrote lady because when he asked me if I knew anyone that was what was in his email . Don't think he is actively looking for someone just asked me if I knew anyone and I took it upon myself to compose post about asking this group . We see so many Thai people that need to make money but at times I have noticed when one looks for someone to fill a job things get very clear that many want shortcuts and actively look to take advantage of others in the Pattaya area and when you have real work to be done and look for those who would just be grateful to make a little money honestly it can be challenging and bring one many problems . This is why he not look himself and just emailed me as I had really enjoyed walking with him when I lived in that area and he thought I may have friends who were looking to do long walks for exercise and even get paid turning it into a job . Imagine if you were in his situation and you attempted to find someone probably not to safe so I took it upon myself to see if someone has anyone they knew that may be a good candidate . Thanks for all the replies and I will email and or call him and see what's up and how much he wants to pursue this . But felt if I called with someone in mind he may be more responsive . Thanks again for all of the replies and keeping thread mindful and kind .

OMG , thanks for the heads up , not sure if it would be part time or full time probably just a few hours a day but if it becomes too challenging will let it go but wanted to investigate possibilities and get out of just thinking about it and make some effort . Thanks again

Money a real concern for all of us but if there is real value in a situation one has a way of finding what they need many times. I do not know specifics about his finances and think the real issue is just finding the right candidate who will get paid but also see opportunity for them because if motivation is wrong no amount will work . A person can get just about anything they want with enough money but often not what they need in fact too much money may often get in the way attracting others with wrong motivation . I just posted this as a first step and really wanted to look for a way to find someone as motivated to help him as they were about the money , kind of a balance . Most have real cash challenges and I am sure with his medical issues and concerns about the cost of things he is no exception but if there is someone who want to possibly walk and get exercise on the beach daily and also get paid a fair price it may be a good situation for both I don't know ? Thanks for your reply and it's really impressive that you help your mom the way you do while so many not even live in same country as a parent in need . Do not mean to sidestep your question but do not know my friends exact situation but know he is not wealthy yet has enough money to live here and have food and a nice place to live just looking to make effort as I thought about looking for someone for long time and never made the effort until today with this post . Perhaps if someone could suggest and hourly amount that would be fair to have someone walk with him that would be another good step ... Again thanks .

"One of the most stellar parks on earth? I don't think you've travelled much. London, New York, Tokyo, Paris to name but a few all have much more impressive parks than Lumpini ever was. Even Hong Kong and Singapore have far better parks. There are beautiful and huge parks in Barcelona (Parc Guell) and Mexico City (Chapultepec). Lumpini never impressed me much, but now it's an unmitigated disaster."
I have been to parks in most of cities you listed and preferred Lumpini as the people working out on track , pool and gym there were so committed to staying fit almost religiously showing up daily rain or heat . The mindset of so many there was really keeping physically fit where many other parks I have been to were places more to relax ( smoking and pets even prohibited with good security ) this park when I use to work out there had large groups of people dedicated to staying fit at all ages . Guess we all like different things and places but hope to start working out there again soon and meet up with the many who really pushed me in workout classes and on runs I miss . I live right across the street from park and would just cross one street to get to this island in the storm now it is ground zero in the storm with angry speeches blaring outside my window all night and day with even the birds quiet these days . I am fortunate to be on a high floor but still face this new village and am met with military every time I walk around this area . Everything changes .
