A question for foreigners who have the car registered in your own name. Do you have to get a letter from immigration every year when you re-tax the car ?.

Filling a basket over a period of 2-3 days, for less than 3K baht, and then being surprised or even offended when certain items are no longer in stock by that point. I mean serious? lol.
Typical of todays thinking. When I owned my business I never ran out of stock. We called it stock control. Maybe that is why my business was so successful that I was able to retire at the age of 50, 20 years ago. The reason it takes 2 to 3 days to complete my basket is because I am in conversation with the store awaiting items to come back into stock. While waiting other basic items go out of stock.

Is anyone else have problems with Makro Pro since it changed from Makro Click ?. Many items I used to order on Click are not available on Pro. When I contact my branch they do have in store. Stock control on Pro is also very bad. I usually spend 2 or 3 days filling the basket, just when I am about to place the order some items are no longer in stock ( but they do have in the store). I end up having half my order via Pro and the rest via a very helpful staff member in the store via Line. Also not so much of a problem, but just annoying the 2 invoices come to more that 3,000 Baht but still have to pay 99 Baht delivery charge. I now only buy items that I can not get anywhere else and spend about 25% of what I used to spend.

They are both English. Just called them and they will go back to immigration to try and get the certificate of residency. Thanks will keep you updated.
The immigration refused the certificate of residency, they said can only have when they have a 12 month visa. That is not possible to get until they have a bank account with the 800,000 Baht in. I think the main problem is we are out in the rural area. I think the only option is a lawyer.

Catch 22 for this is good description.
You could try Kasikorn and hopefully with the non O bank may open account.
Alternative is to use agent. Approx 3k baht.
IMO saves the mucking about.
Be aware that only 3 banks now do transfers (of large amounts) using WISE.
Suggest one of these banks best option
Agents often use BANGKOK BANK.
From WISE ....
You can send up to 2 million THB per transfer.
Please note that you’ll be able to send 50,000 THB or above per transfer only to the following banks starting from 7 January 2022 due to regulatory changes:
-
Bangkok Bank Public Company
-
Kasikorn Bank
-
Siam Commercial Bank
Tried Kasikorn Bank and SCB both refuse. Agent may be the final answer, where to find an agent ?.

If his wife is Thai she may be able to be his reference to open the account.
Or he could get a certificate of residency at immigration that the bank should accept.
Did he try opening a account at Bangkok bank?
They are both English. Just called them and they will go back to immigration to try and get the certificate of residency. Thanks will keep you updated.

Hi guys, my friends needs your help. They have a house here in Nakom Phanom on a 30 year land lease, arrived this time on a non-immigration visa valid for 3 months. Every bank they have tried to open an account with have refused, most giving the reason they they have to have a 12 month visa to qualify. As he will be unable to get a 12 month extension without a bank account with 800,000 Baht in. How do they proceed ?. It’s a Catch 22 situation.

I bought an item from ebay and paid the import tax at point of purchase. I was very surprised a few weeks later to get all the tax refunded.

Just flown Bangkok - Dubai with Emirates. Everyone had to wear a mask and constant messages about keeping your mask on. Then flew Dubai - Cairo _ Hurghada with Egypt Air. Almost no one was wearing masks on the aircraft or Cairo airport. Back in Egypt now for a few months and not one mask have I seen. Everything is like it was before COVID. Even my Thai wife no longer wears a mask. It's good to be back to normal.

If you looked few threads back you will find my pictures when no such huge rebar system is needed, saving considerable amount of money on material and the workmanship. The pool holding over 17 years and surviving 2 earthquakes.
The pressure on the walls and the floor at a swimming pool is the same as on any other vessel of the same height (1.4m) whether it is 1 m or 100 m wide.
For a better compactness of the wall (whether by single or double blocks) a steel wire 3 - 5 mm can be inserted horizontally under the block layers.
A proper backfilling behind each block layer is recommended.
All made with village brick layers by a simple cement mortar and common "kitchen tiles" ???? ...
Ok found your posts, looks like you think like me. Why buy expensive special tiles, when normal tiles will do the job. Your brickworks looks quite thick, did you make 2 layers ?. do you have any more construction photos ?. Can I use a skimmer as an overflow when it rains ?. What area do you live in.
-
Can you send me a link to that please.
-
Hopefully as my pool is only going to be 90 cm deep, the weight will not be so much.
-
Thanks, looks good. I was thinking to make the hole larger than the pool cement and rebar across the floor. Begin the bricks on top of the cement floor. Rebar across every layer of bricks then backfill with cement mix for added strength. Lots of sealer before rendering, then more sealer and ceramic tiles. The other way I have seen is to lay the rebar inside the brickwork as in the photo below but without all the pipework. That may be stronger. How thick was the total floor cement after the repair ?

Hello, so I have had a Intex above ground pool now for more than 2 years and use it almost every day. I am now thinking of building a in-ground pool with the help of my local builder friend. When I say in-ground I want it to be 60 cm below ground and 30 cm above pool size 2 meter by 6 meter. That will be 2 meters longer than mu current pool. That way the water pipes can be at ground level if ever I have to do maintenance. I want to keep it simple, just 1 inlet, 1 outlet & a skimmer. I have never had to drain my pool, so if I ever have to I can pump the water out. MY QUESTIONS to you all. Has anybody built your own pool ?. What if any problems did you have ?. Any advice will be grateful. Is there an inlet that I can fix the pool vacuum to the same as the Intex system.

The Pfizer vaccine which is all around the world is now approved, if your talking because of it's official name change, then your barking up the wrong tree, a stick is a stick is a stick, like a rock is a rock is a rock. Stop being so pedantic and wasting my time, Pfizer's vaccine that has been is use under emergency use authorisation, is now formally approved, get it ?

It's very difficult to get good info these days. Dr Chris Martinson who I have followed for almost 2 years said something very different 2 days ago. At the end of the day we have to do as much research as we can and make our own choice. I went to ref the the video just now but it has been taken down. For me that raises alarm bells.

Your a little behind the times, Pfizer is now an approved vaccine, others will follow as the data comes in, very soon.
On August 23, 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it had approved the Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine will be marketed as Comirnaty and is fully approved to prevent coronavirus disease in people 16 years of age and older.1 day ago
The Pfizer vaccine that is available now is not approved. They have approval on a different vaccine. Do the research.

Three weeks ago I refused the Sinovac + the AZ vaccine. My wife took the Sinovac and returned last Monday to get the AZ shot. I went with her and asked for the AZ shot, after a a bit of arguing they kept a copy of my passport wife wife’s mobile number and said they would call later that day if they had vaccine left over. Sure enough got a call, arrived at he hospital at 4.45 ( the place was empty ). A nurse was waiting for me with all the paperwork. Went straight in got my AZ shot had to sit for 30 minutes, given a date for my second shot. Job done all in less than an hour. I did feel pretty bad Tuesday, but next day felt great.
