What is good and what is bad.

That depends upon ones definitions of "good and bad".

Personally I am happy to help others where/when I can WITHOUT being threatened by some deity (for not doing so) or rewarded by some deity (for doing so).

Death (and the hereinafter) does not worry me, only the manner of my death scares me. I will deal with the hereinafter at the time should it exist.

Therefore, for me, there is no "god" of religion.

That's actually why I'm here.  If I wanted Falang culture I'd have stayed home.

That is NOT what I said! Are you being disingenuous?

I was about to make the effort to move to Thailand and coming from a western nation (where approximately 26% of our citizens were born overseas) and they happily fit in, recognise their own culture but also enjoy ours. It seems that the Kingdom has a problem with 'caucasian/farang' and are not really welcoming to them - nothing to do with me needing/wanting 'farang culture' above all. Apart from all the regulatory hassles, seemingly constant rule changes and outright corruption, I figured I don't need the worry. I'll stick with visiting from time to time and enjoy their culture while there. So much easier.

Wish they would just work out a cost and let us married guys get on the 30 baht plan, of course it would cost much more and should include more.  Make it a government plan.  This would increase funding for public hospitals.  Wait, i forgot its Thailand sorry for wasting your time.  555555

Logical 'farang' thinking not allowed in the Kingdom.

    warm beer too? :ermm:

    Ugh.........

I do remember many many years ago having a beer with some local Thai (which, of course, this 'farang' purchased, as was expected ) and when the beer was poured into a glass ICE CUBES were added! Yuk! I then had to find some acceptable way of explaining to them that the bottles are put in/on ice to cool NOT ice in the beer. That first glass of beer certainly didn't taste like what I had expected.

Which consulate is it? If not the Sydney consulate it is only a honorary consulate that answered you question.

Most embassies and consulates are not always a reliable source of info about anything to do with immigrations requirements for entry to the country.

Long story short, emailed the consulate with your weblink. They apologised and confirmed 10K Baht.

Thanks for your help - my grandson is pleased. ????

    Okay - thanks for that.

    Brisbane Consulate.

I can only conclude that like many Govt. departments the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

    Yes it is correct.

From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

"However, please make sure that you are in possession of a passport valid for

at least 6 months, a round-trip air ticket, and adequate finances equivalent to

at least 10,000 Baht per person or 20,000 Baht per family. Otherwise, you may be

inconvenienced upon entry into the country."

Should I tell the Thai Consulate they are wrong? ????

Could you give me the weblink for that please ASAP. I cannot see your information.

    Thanks.

The actual rule for a visa exempt entry is 10k baht for an individual or 20k baht for a family.

    That is not correct. ????

Reply (full text of email 29/10/2018) from a Thai Consulate in Australia "As you are entering under the visa exemption scheme you are unlikely to be asked to demonstrate financial capacity, however in the instance you are you should be able to demonstrate you have funds of at least AUD$800 at your disposal."

It does not say cash only.

One popular misconception is that you can dry-age steaks by lining them with cheesecloth or paper towel, then leaving them in your fridge for four to seven days. While this method dehydrates steaks (which can heighten flavor intensity), it does not properly age them. Beef needs to be aged for at least 14 days for enzymes to properly tenderize fibers, and needs to be aged for at least 21 days for complex flavors to develop. One week in a fridge—cheesecloth or no cheesecloth—won’t make that happen.

If you want to dry-age beef at home, you’ll need to start out with a large cut of top-grade, USDA Prime beef. Dry-aging needs to be done before a roast is cut into individual steaks, so go with something like a large rib roast, three ribs minimum. Also, be sure to buy a cut that still has a thick cap of fat on its exterior. This way, that side will only lose fat when you trim the exterior at the end of the aging process

Just leave it (in original packaging or shrinkwrap it so it does not dry out) until the meat starts to turn a dark colour (aging process) then cook.
