Just check the rate out and see how much you will lose with a Kasikorn transfer, or talk the bank and see if they'll match another bank's better rate ??
If it isn't a huge amount I would just do the TT bank transfer ....
why go to all the bother of carrying cash ... ATM withdrawals... etc .... if there's only a small difference ...
plus , peace of mind not carrying $20k ... just my opinion
PS. you'll need all of that one mill in Auss as a steak is around $30-35 and the beer will be $7
good luck with the nanny state also.
Give the guy a break. He wants to educate his children! Your "nanny state" is not all bad. Perhaps you enjoy your feudal and corrupt society, if your living in Thailand? Many people aspire to something better.
And where is the beer for $7? I buy at a 'wholesale' for far less per bottle.

My understanding is that many years ago, even before 9/11 there was a plan to have a diplomatic enclave on the site of the old Military Prepatory School. After the Prep school moved to Nakhon Nayok the land was occupied by Suan Lum night markets. It took several years for the authorities to get rid of the night market vendors and I believe you will see more Embassies relocate to that vicinity.
The prevailing wisdom at the time was that it would be easier for the RTP to provide protection if all the embassies wee co-located...not sure if that is still the prevailing wisdom given the steep rise in terrorist attacks world wide over the last 20 years.
Wisdom and the RTP, sounds like an oxymoron to me
But I do understand what you're saying.

The massive amount of concrete used in all the buildings and roads soaks up heat during the day and releases it at night..the buildings also restrict airflow.
Huh? So it only stays hot in areas of "civilization"? Mmmm...........
I will run with the plausible explanation of being in or near the tropics, although the massive amount of concrete will possibly contribute a few more degrees.

About two years ago I took a cab from Swampy to downtown BKK and my hotel. Along the tollway the driver pulled over, stopped and announced "No meter you pay me X baht". Having travelled this route many times before I recognised the overcharge and contemplating what to do (it was dark and I was not going to get out of the cab and probably have the cretin drive off with my luggage) I said "Ok, drive on". Took me about thirty seconds to extricate myself because I knew when I arrive at my hotel ,concierge will come out to the taxi to get my luggage. I got out of the cab slowly while they were doing this (and I am wasting sometime looking for my wallet) I gave the driver 300 baht and walked away. The driver did not make a scene with 3 concierge guys around. Whew. Now I make sure I speak a little Thai to a driver (if I am alone), be friendly and let him know I have stayed at "the hotel" many times before (puts them off driving a long way around also). Hope this helps anyone else from being ripped off.

There's a lot of competition for last place in the "reliable" competition. In most threads on TV you can depend on a contingent of "warriors" to muddy the waters with unreliable info.
"...on TV you can depend on a contingent of "warriors" to muddy the waters with unreliable info." TV readers are not muddying the waters, it is the inconsistencies of information from Thai government departments! As is often the case, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing

"Just in case, you might want to buy an inexpensive, but refundable, ticket out of Thailand during the 30-day period."
An airline ticket from Phuket to KL can usually be purchased for a low throwaway price.

YOU ARE BEING SUSPECTED OF WORING IN Thailand.
You need to show your income is in fact from outside Thailand and not earned in Thailand by working here, without a work permit.
Woring? Do you mean whoring or working?
Couldn't help it.

"What will it take for Thailand to become an international hub?" Another 600 years I would expect!
Just because Singapore made it in 50 years there is no reason to expect that Thai governments would learn from them (because Thai authorities do not want or cannot learn from others).

Instead of restriction to 49% for foreign owning land, why not give 99 year leases for 100% of foreigner using land?
The reality is that if a foreigner was to own, by any %, the land , he/she can never remove it from Thailand! Therefore what's the problem?
Any country just has to "nationalise" the asset, if foreign ownership is a burden or detrimental to the country.

I cannot think of a good reason for the doors to open out, if you design your house correctly your door will open in against a wall on the inside and will be out of the way if left open, but then maybe you would have the light switch behind the door.
Sheesh.............I think you missed something to do with SAFETY.

Why do doors open outwards in Sweden when everywhere else they open inwards?
Swedes not unnerstan? Same same Thai authorities?
Nah, just joking, my apologies to Swedish forum members.

The ONE good reason I can think of for ALL doors to open out is safety in the event of an emergency necessitating the immediate evacuation of premises. Very hard to open a door inwards when the tide of people is trying to get out! Not that there is likely to be "a tide" in your cubicle - but adopt a standardized system. Commonsense, not rocket science! But, TIT.

No info, just advice. Make sure your minivan driver stays awake! Otherwise you will have no need for a Visa.

Allow me to add that even ignoring ethical considerations, it is proven that the capital punishment is not a deterrent. Further, there are cases where the court is wrong in its verdict and this comes to light. How can one correct the wrong? The innocent person is dead!
I would think it is a deterrent for sane people but not for those who are mentally unbalanced/disturbed.
thai passport has expired in UK. how to renew
in Visas and migration to other countries

What about travelling thru other countries to get to Thailand? And out of the country they are currently in?
But surely they can apply online for renewal/replacement passport to be "posted" to them?
