There is a picture being painted here of a helpless little old lady who has been ripped off and is now stranded in Thailand. OP states that she has lived in Thailand for 40 years. That means a conscious decision to move here 40 years ago, somehow she has supported herself and met immigration requirements etc, for 40 years.

At what age do you become exempt from the usual immigration laws and penalties ?

Good question surley after a certain age and long time here you would think there be no need for visas.over 80 and 40 years she deserves a medal and free visa

Normally, when you start early with health insurance, the company put aside some money so at old age the fee increase is minimal. May be not in Thailand. But saying, only the "very" rich can afford health insurance, is nonsense. That might be valid only when you are 70 years or older if they take you at all.

A high percentage of posters propally fall in to that category.or not far of it

Oh, come on Nancy. you even went on another Forum asking people to sign up here and vote for you!!

Butter won't melt in your mouth anymore!!

Don't think she needed to do that.the one who you have not to mention manipulation fixed and fiddled the result.bit like putin?

  4. BTW, did you look at the expiration date? It should show 6 years minus 3+weeks.

Yup, that's right -- six years minus the three weeks or so after my birthday. I thought the 10 baht was for the little plastic sleeve, which I promptly disposed of since he doesn't fit into my wallet.

nice to see you driving on the chaos of chiang mai roads, what car you got,???

  5. You want to see new faces? Go to Chiang Mai Immigration just about any day of the week! As far as I'm concerned, there are too damn many of them now! cheesy.gif

No S*%t ....I've been living south of the city(Mai Hia) for over 10 years and amazed at the influx of farang over the last 3yrs. out this way.

At the fresh market on a sunday I could imagine to be somewhere in middle America....couples young, old, mixed & matched, full families and large groups all shapes and sizes...here for reasons of their own.

    ChiangMai has been discovered!

Exactly what I have said and am seeing → close to the same area...

driving around the city (chiang mai)this afternoon commented to wife.never seen so many farangs here, bit of a mix lots of youngish ladies, but lots and lots of older men.
  6. Has anyone info at Jomtien with regard to this? For me if it is 6 months, it means I could get my letter now and not worry about the $CA decline.

You letter will usually quote a figure in $CA which the immigration officer will convert to Baht on the day of application.

I have always got my letter quoted in Thai baht, using the rate for that day.

uk embassy wont do that, only sterling quoted.
