You can't apply for a visa at Immigration. You have to apply at an embassy or consulate.

Once you get it, Immigration can extend it for you if you meet their criteria.

FYI I think the old Immigration office in Songkhla Town closed over a decade ago.

    Thanks for the info phuketsub.

Thanks for clarifying that Steve. But my question remains-does anyone know if I can do that at Songkhla town or do I need to go to Hat Yai?

Yes, the 'material grabbing'....I can see how that might happen....and get a bit tricky! ????

Gotta say, sometimeswoodworker, you know your stuff when it comes to tools of this kind, certainly more than I do.

You mentioned me perhaps wanting, in the future, to cut a 'cement based board'. I'm not sure what you mean by 'cement based' board. For this job on my eaves I'm assuming I would be cutting through plaster board. I thought that would be quite soft, easily-drillable material. But then I am rather inexperienced in this area. (Actually, VERY inexperienced ????!)

    I appreciate your help & advice. ????

Most soffit board here is cement based and extremely difficult to drill. I tried before and decided it was easier to replace all the solid soffit boards with the pre drilled boards.

Is there any mention of emergency power kicking in?  Once main power is lost, an emergency diesel generator should auto start providing emergency power and lighting.  The EDG is normally not located in the main engine room but in its own watertight compartment with its own fuel tank and the emergency switchboard.

This is a small ship; so no telling where the EDG was located or it could possibly not have an EDG but emergency battery power.  Anyway, emergency power should have been available, at least for awhile.

Emergency diesel generator is normally located on uppermost deck; and every naval ship has one.

But if it is not tested and maintained, it may not start in a blackout. Since it was reported that flooding came from exhaust, I assume generators had wet exhausts and one failed.

Another BS story. The amount of water needed to displace a vessel of this size would have to be huge, a broken exhaust would have to have been flooding for hours on end without anyone noticing

The amount of water to cause any ship to list does not have to be that great due to “free surface effect”. And once the ship lists enough, down flooding can sink her in minutes.

You couldn't pay me enough to fly China airlines on a long haul flight.  Also with the times you quoted I bet some of the layovers are just an hour or so. If your first flight is a little late you may not make the second flight. From the east coast Boston and NYC have similar flight times maybe about 21 hours going 19 1/2-20 going back with a layover. I did Cathay BOS to Hong Kong ( 15-151/2 hour) then Hong Kong to BKK ( 2 ish hours ) several times. There is something about just getting there that I find attractive. I always have an aisle seat to get up and walk around. Emirates going the other way was great but now they have less flights Dubai to BKK. I agree with you the international transfer when doing Seattle to Vancouver is not convenient at all. You must have to enter Canada go through customs get your bags then get to possibly another terminal , check your bags again, go through Canadian customs again and wait for flight. A lot of wasted time.

I believe your bags would be checked through to Thailand and YVR main terminal is for all international flights-no need to change terminals.

Are these common items to steal? I never considered the fact someone would unmount and steal air con units. Leather sofas are difficult to steal also and I would think difficult to sell even. All of these trips and transporting would take hours so I thought this was the kind of thing burglars avoided.

It's easy for two men to steal a leather sofa. The difficulty comes with balancing it on the Wave.

Stop lying to people, Richard. You could get them fined, or worse. ????

So motorcy's can't make right turns then? You are misunderstanding your quote.
