  1.      I was really expecting there would have been more of an interest in these red claws. When I was working in Oz

the guys there always talked about how much they wanted to have some to put on the barbie. I though the

farm gate price would be a good motivator to see if the idea of mailing them out would work.

Now next to see what I will do with the 200 kilos I will have ready to go in 2-3 months.

     Cheers,

  2.    I'm farming redclaws and prawns and finding it a bit hard to sale the redclaws. So I had the idea of trying to sale the over the internet

and mail them out. Not sure how I would mail them alive just yet but I have seen someone sale living prawns on Lazada. I don't have

huge amounts and the crays would be limited. I was wandering what everyone else out there thought about it.

     Cheers,

  3.       I have been trying to get my marriage visa in the province that I stay in Thailand and finding it a bit difficult with all the paper work. I have normally

gone to Savanaket for the last 4 years and everything went very well. I just thought I would avoid the drive this year and do it close to home but ran into a few issues. My wife and I were married in the USA so we have a US marriage certificate, she got it translated and certified by a Thai translator/notary. We

took this the the ampur and they said I need to get it certified from the US embassy. I thought I needed to get the translated copy certified by the embassy but my wife says I need to get the embassy to translate and certify the document the original document. I am a bit confused so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.  I know this first time is going to be hard with the paper work, but going to Laos was so much easier.

       Thanks

  4. I was wanting to buy a bass boat or fishing boat here in Thailand but havent had much luck with finding sites on the internet

for for boats between 200,000-300,000 bht. I was thinking of importing my boat from the US. Its just a 18' john boat that

is fixed up for bass fishing with all there gear. It would cost me about 150,000 bht to ship it not including the import tax. I was

hoping I could find something here and avoid the import headache. Any info would be helpful. Thanks,

  5.    So on Friday I had landed at swampy about 4pm and the line at immigration was pretty big. I was very surprised at how

fast I acutely made it to the desk to get stamped in. I could tell as I was standing in line that the immigration officer

was having a pretty bad attitude toward everyone going through his line. I didn't think to much about it with a valid non O visa

just a quick stamp and walk through. I got to the desk and was confronted with the question "Why do you go to Laos to make

a visa". I answered back to make a visa. He said I don't have to go to Laos to make that visa so why do I go. I told him

I was unaware I could do it at the immigration office in my province. He was questioning me like I was trafficking drugs then he

became even more annoyed and I was pulled aside and questioned again about why and what was I doing in Thailand.

I was wandering if anyone else have had problems getting through immigration with a valid visa. I never had any issues before

and was just going to chock it up to an A-hole officer in a bad mood. I also was unaware I could make the same non-O visa

at my local immigration office. Every time I have been to that immigration office getting them to do anything is like pulling teeth and

more likely than not you would need to give them a bit of extra money.

  6. I had a major tick problem 2 years ago. Started in the wet season with my dogs one day having a few ticks then it just got worse from there. I tried every shampoo and even got some $30 tick wash from the states that did pretty much nothing. The dogs sleep next to the front door so this led to them getting in the house. They were in bedded in the wood doors, on the walls and floors. The only thing that worked was the shot you can give the dogs once a month. After that they started to go away slowly. I sprayed some roach killer around the corners of the walls and doors and seemed slow them down but in reality it was a few months after before I didn't see anymore of them. If you have wood doors try giving them a spray once a week to get inside any cracks and corners.

  7. I had the same thing 2 years ago with a Burmese python, almost cut him up when i was cutting weeds. I pulled him out and sent him back to the forest but 3 days later

he ended up eating a chicken next door and became someones meal after that. Dont let those pythons fool you they have massive rows of teeth. The Burmese python

is dark green and black, but the reticulated python is a few colors green and black but the most eye catching is the orange color on it. The reticulated python is way more aggressive and grows bigger than the burmese.

A guy that works for me claims he was attacked by a reticulated python some years ago. I dont remember how he got away but that must have been a big one to think it could

take on a person. Also a 10 ft python around your neck would most likely kill you.

Like i said before dont let the rats make a home in your shed or anyplace around your house. Once they are there thats when you are more likely to have the venomous snakes around.

  8. I wear a pair of old steel toe work boots when Im working around or going to be walking through leaves or tall grass my wife wears rubber boots. Have a look at the locals

around you and see what they wear. Some wear boots others wear shoes depends on what they are working on but you will see everyone in long pants and a long shirt because of the bugs, sun,

and all the things that make you itch.

  9. I have seen about 10-12 Kraits on my farm along with cobras, pythons, and pit vipers. Kraits are not aggressive snakes and are said to be lethargic and if you hear of anyone who was bitten by any snake 99% they were messing with it in some way. I only kill the ones that get to close to the house and even that is talking the chance of a bite. The snakes I have seen only come around looking for food when there are field rats around. Get a cat to keep the rat number down and you will have less snakes.

  10. The entire village 100+ plots has the same paper for their land and they have build houses on them. Not sure how this could be co-op in a scam with having at least

5 surveys done by the forest department and they have all been OK.

You are wrong about not having a go at me because i am Farange. I have already had a problem before with a police guy and a ba mai guy trying to get money from her

a year and 1/2 ago and the only reason they went is because they heard I was there. They havent been to the places next to her land doing the same with the adjoining plots surveying their land as it is next to the forest too. I'm not the kind of person who thinks everyone is out to get me, but I'm not naive either.

I think everyone knows what I'm talking about when i say we maybe want to sale the land, Of course it is not mine and I did not pay for it, but any pay off money would mostly come

from my pocket. When I say we this is meant as my wife is wanting to make dissensions about it together so context of who owns the land should be understood.

We are firm on not paying any money and willing to lose parts if we have to.

  11. No, she hasent done anything yet, it has only been a few days. She is afraid as trying to contact someone over him because not sure how far the corruption goes. She would have to take that chance and get some evidence against him to have the proof. I can push her towards it but I am unsure she might be to afraid to go that route. I wounder how you could even contact someone in the Junta? Go to a military base maybe?

  12. My wife had some extra money a few years ago and wanted to invest it into land as equity and gain a small income by farming it. I dont know the exact name of the paper

for the land but it isn't the full 100% ownership its the "you lease it but own it" paper. Every plot of land in the area even the villages for about 20k have the same paper. I was

told the land office has not got to that area yet to make the "real" papers yet. The property is next to the national forest along with 4-5 other plots of land and we have had many

different people come out to check the boundary lines to make sure everything is good even the old head guy from the ba mai office last year and gave us the OK. Now there is a new head ba mai

guy in the office and he came out to do HIS survey that ended up with a national forest pole placed in the middle of the land and a demand for money to remove the post or lose that part of the land.

They all know she is married to a foreigner because they have been there at times i was there taking pictures of me and my 2 kids. Two years ago we had a similar deal with the ba mai office

where we ended up paying. We both agreed we would rather lose the land than pay this time and let the guy in the office sit there to see what he is going to do next. I know these problems are

because of me but I did not expect this being so far in the jungle from the ba mai office. The thing is they dont bother anyone else around or try and stop the guys in the forest cutting down trees,

because in the dry season I hear chain saws all day. Even if we were to cut our losses and sale it would still take a year or more to sale. Advice is welcome. Thanks

  13. I have had a little trouble finding a house to rent in Philok that is more on the higher end of what is available. I have looked all over the internet and been driving around town looking for the signs

being put out, but have yet to find a place worth looking at. There tones of rooms and small places that you might only be able to park a motor bike in, but im looking for say 2 cars and a fenced in yard where my kids can play. I dont need to live in the city maybe around 20k away and some kind of kitchen in the house would be nice. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

  14. I have been reading the forums about the visa crack downs and need advise on my own situation.

I am one of the oil and gas workers living in Thailand that have a work rotation of one month on and one month off. I work in Australia and commute to Thailand

in my off time to be with my Thai wife and our children. I have only been doing the visa on arrival because it is easy and I dont have to deal with the mess of getting

another visa. It wont be a problem to get a type O visa, my question is the number of entries they will allow me to have. I will make over 6 per year most are planned dates others

are for work classes that they make me do in my time off. Does the type O visa work with this kind of entry and would i need to get a special approval for x amount of days i could leave?

Or do I keep doing what I am doing as long as I have a return ticket and the funds in hand?

    Thanks
