  1. @Crossy

I saw on another thread you mentioned you used Wago 773 push wire connectors in your house build. I'd like to know if it ok to use three of those in a junction box in the ceiling space above each drop down to each socket on a radial circuit. The Wagos would connect the incoming 3 x2.5mm2 wires to three 2.5mm2 wires that drop down to the socket and also to the three wires that run onwards in the circuit to the next socket outlet, and so on up to a total of 8 double sockets per circuit?  Would that be up to an acceptable standard?

Plastic conduit is not required but if used and glued is virtually certain to fill with water.

Good to know, maybe I'll just direct bury it and run some plastic "caution / warning "tape just above it in the trench. It'll be about 400mm below grade, I doubt the wife has the energy to dig holes for her plants that deep.

Yes, though you may want a few THW 1x4mm~6mm circuits

I didn't word that very well sorry, lights 1.5mm, plugs 2.5mm, showers 4mm and so on.

For your pump you need NYY. Run 2 core if you put in a ground rod at the pump.

Ground rod is next to pump pad. There will be a small pool filter / pump there also so probably run 2x4mm2 NYY in plastic conduit to it.

I have three airs cons going in. Two 12,000 btu interters and one 18,000 btu inverter. If I've searched correctly on here they need each have their own 20a breaker with 3x2.5mm2 wiring?

Two showers as yet unknown whether 4000w to max 6000w these need their own 30a breaker and 2x4mm2 + 1x2.5mm2 earth cable?

Thanks for answers guys, it's nice to have a clear plan before work starts.

  4. Overseeing a new build single story 2 bedroom house build, it's nearly time to start conduit and wiring and I have more questions than answers given there seems to be no code for electrical installation available.

First question is if I have every single wire installed in the whole house fully enclosed in plastic conduit pipe it is ok to use single core THW 1x2.5mm wire throughout as opposed for example 2x2.25mm2 VAF cable?

Second question is the earth wire pulled between 3 pins double outlets, best practice is to use green/yellow THW 1x2.5mm2 or will 1x1.5mm2 suffice.

Third question relates to RCBO which I see I now "mandatory", the panel I bought came with a 63a 2p RCBO as the main breaker. I will be on a 15/45 meter and suspect I should have ordered a 50A instead, should I change that out now or wait and see if it fails inspection?

Fourth question relates to running a cable outside to the pad where the water pump will sit. It seems on rental houses I've stayed in they are buried VAF 2x1.5mm2 or 2x2.5mm2 in the yellow plastic trunking about 5 inches below grade. This seems a bit dodgy. Is that the accepted thing to do or is there an improved way?

Many more questions, but answers to these would be great!

  5. My School Insist I change My non "o" To A "b"

I'm just starting work at a school for the first time here in Roi--et.

I have a multi entry non immigrant visa type "O" issued in the uk that is valid until the end of August 2010.

A couple of years ago, I was able to get a work permit based on my type "O" with no problems, but this was not for work in the teaching arena.

This school are insisting that I have to change my O to a B, even though the local work permit office have confirmed they will issue the WP based on my O. They said somethng about the teachers council insisting that new teachers have non B's.

I would like to know where I must go to do this?, is it Bangkok? and where?

The local immigration office for me is now in Amnat Charoen....as per recent geographical changes to where one can go to get service, previously I would have attended Nong Khai or Muhkdahan.

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this, I did do a search of the forum but could find any recent info on this topic.

  6. Well it bounced back to 9605 what a coincidence?

    You want coincidence??

September 11, 2001 the Dow was closed that day with a price of 9605.51. Close of business today Dow closed at 9605.41

Wow, that 2001 thing is spooky. I saw that on March 9th during the 6500 lows, stocks were at 1996 prices, that means the market has rallied 5 years in 7 months, which is anothe mad statistic if you think about it.

Market looks strong today, coming back from bad futures numbers of -90 dow overnight.......but we hit that line I mentioned earlier at 1044.31 / 9616 and got turned away again. I thnk the market will bounce around 1028 to 1044 for a while, possibly until earnings start. Then it should get interesting.

  7. The fall will be fast &hard.

Let me give you my appraisal of the situation, this is what i firmly believe.

There will be no hard or fast moves down, the world is once again awash with liquidity and the reflation trade is back on and its in full swing like tech in 1999.

Every day in this market what you are witnessing is a bubble being recreated, fueled by free money and government (madness) stimulus right around the world.

There isn't any point shorting stocks right now, unless you are nimble, ie, in and out within a few hours.

Have you noticed the pullbacks are calm and organised, they allow new buyers to enter the market and off we go again to new highs, this has been going on since March 9th, those that have spotted it and embraced it have caught the greatest rally they will probably ever encounter in their lifetimes. Others, have missed out, some because they got themselves too bogged down listening to broadcast poison like CNBC, or web panic blogs like zerohedge/shedlock/Denninger. Those guys havent been right about a single thing since March 9th, they and those that hang on their every negative word have gotten torched by the tradebots at GS/JPM and Credit Suisse, much to their chagrin now. Their negative bias has prevented them from making money, go take a look at Tim Knight, a broken man, if I ever saw one.

The time to short stocks was august 2007, that when the smart money was made, but that trade is over, finished......at least until this crazy bubble pops, that isnt going to be anytime in the near future though, thats for sure, theres just too much free cash chasing the same dream.

Keep your eye on the dollar, the market trades like it was one

  8. Soon the SP00 (GS) gunners will lower their sights and take your legs away

Yeah but when is soon?, most bears have been repeating that everyday since 7000 Dow.

Take the trade in front of you.

9600 has to hold. I'm half in half out a bit like a messy night at Nana Plaza :D

Make sure you get a 50% discount next time it happens :D

We were let down by weakness in oil today, with financials at major resistance, it was materials and energy leading action early on, oil rolled over......gold went higher and the dollar remained weak. Weird for oil to do that.

Never mind though, the tradebots will save the day as usual at 3pm :)

  9. Interesting thread, not seen much written about the markets on Thai websites.

US markets just closed SPX at 1043.47, now there's likely a resistance area just above this at 1044.31 which dates back to an intraday high back on October 14th 2008.

I think the market will struggle to close above this level and I've been waiting to see if this area is going to be a pivot point for a move lower towards 875 for about three months now. If I'm wrong a move higher towards 1056.89 is on the cards...possibly :)

So, that's what I'm watching, tomorrow is all about consumer confidence numbers, if they are poor a move back to 1028 is quite possible.

  10. Dear Tomo

Line contention on Indy package is well documented elsewhere, in comparison to the Premier package there is considerably less international bandwidth available to you, and that what is avaiable to you has restrictions. That is a fact, you can argue all you like. As was just posted by Baz just a little up the page the restrictions on Indy are easily available on the maxnet website.

You say "It depends on your location" i presume you mean within Thailand? Well i got more bad news for you. There are no issues with bandwith limitations within Thailand. Current network usage within thailand by internet traffic runs at about 20% of capacity. This is why ISP's like TOT Maxnet are using banner headlines like "free 4mb" upgrade. It doesnt mean you are getting any extra international bandwidth, it just means they are giving you more speed across the unused 80% capacity they have available WITHIN THAILAND. A nice sales gimmick which brings in customers which actually costs them nothing and gives the customer the impression.

As for dns issues, there is no issue. DNS servers play no part in bandwith test results.

You said "Paymore for the same rubish and enjoy it." Actually, as I said before, TT&T's premier package has exeptional performance under normal circumstances and is excellent value for money. Indy is a pile of old turds in comparison, packet shaped, ports blocked, psp restrictions voip slooooooooow. You cant be seriously trying to tell me Indy has more benefits for the average farang here than Premier for a saving of 250 baht per month?

"Take your attitude back to where you come from" Be quiet, newbie.

  11. Looks like it is a Korat problem

Yes, it is terrible. pervasive, and many weeks now. I upgraded to the highest Indy package and it's worse. I won't go with Premiere because I can see that the problem is the international gateway.

In other words, I get killer speeds from Korat to BKK. And, lower than dial up speeds from BKK to America, Europe.

It means...TT&T has not contracted with CAT for enough international bandwidth.

We are all screwed until they increase their international bandwidth.

You are correct, this problem is located at the Int gateway. All this chatter about changing dns server setting should stop becuase it is a waste of time.

You say you wont go with "premier" well, with indy you get virtually zero access to international bandwidth with that package.

NO FARANGS SHOULD USE INDY PACKAGE IF THEY INTEND TO VIEW WEBSITES OUTSIDE THAILAND AND ARE EXPECTING DECENT PERFORMANCE, THIS IS FACT, SO STOP BEING CHEAP AND UPGRADE TO PREMIER NOW.

Under normal circumstances the internatinal bandwidth on the premier package is excellent. There is a problem now but for the last 16 months I have had premier there have been no problems, ever.

You say "It means...TT&T has not contracted with CAT for enough international bandwidth"

This is absolute nonsence. TT&T stopped buying international bandwidth from CAT nearly 2 years ago. TT&T have their own international gateway and have no major fibre running anywhere near CAT's international gateway now.

If you doubt me then you should go here and click the yellow button at the top marked "download internet map" Take a look for "AS38550 TT&T IIG"

Like I said earlier, I will know when this problem is fixed when i see the 58.xxx.xxx.xxx gateway ip address re-appears in my router. Now its 124.xxx.xxx.xxx which as far as I am aware is the failover address that appears when 58 range falls over.

  12. Im having troble with Maxnet also, it was perfect for me up until about 2 days ago. I have premier 2mb package. Not far from khon kaen.

One thing I have noticed is that in my router, i was getting a gateway ip address in the 58.xxx.xxx.xxx range. Now Its 124.157.144.1 I tend to go into my router every couple of days to check attenuation when its raining and stuff. The 58 range gateway is gone.

Maybe they spilt a litre of coooooke in it :)

    edit.

Im not wearing the DNS story one bit, none of the opendns servers have been blocked and are working normally. reverting back to tt&t's DNS servers has no effect.

My money is on the IIG being spannered or if your a tin foil hat wearer, perhaps TT&T really are skint and have been unable to pay their international bandwidth bill. Stranger things have happened.

  13. I think it's Keurn Kan, and it means something like no one wants to marry her.. unmarriable, thats the best explanation I can get.

    Totster :o

Yes it was Kan and your response fits the context, she's definately selling herself short with that description though.

    thanks

  14. Over dinner this evening my date referred to herself as "Keurn Kam" or something similar sounding. She was referring to the fact she was unmarried at 28 years old.

I'm stumped by this and its not possible to ask Thai friends for fear of embarrasing her.

    Any idea?
