UK as normal
I like Spring and Summer in the UK but never keen on Autumn and Winter !!
Why don't you want to get a Retirement extension? It's easy to get and once you have one it's easy to maintain. I also am from the UK and do 7 months Thailand 5 months UK. Best decision I ever made. Saves mucking about like you seem intent on doing.

Thank goodness I don't live in a Thai village. I love my gated community 7km outside Pattaya. Easy access to everywhere and no funeral or temple noise polluting the air.

I renewed my US passport a few months ago. As soon as it arrived, I just took the new one and the old one to immigration. I handed them to the officer who knew immediately what I needed. I sat down and 5 or 10 minutes later they handed them both back with all the stamps transferred. SHAME on whoever ripped you off for such a "service" and I hope they at least offered you a reach around.
Read the OP properly. He paid 5,300 baht to get a new passport, not transferring the stamps over, which is what you posted about.

You lot must live in the middle of nowhere. In the 10 years living here, I have never had an issue with anything only mosquitoes. For the record I live in the countryside outside Pattaya.

I showed it to her once and she was genuinely confused by the topics discussed.
I showed her some discussion items. For example she would defend the sunbathing temple chicks. In general she wonders why so many foreigners are suffering with visa issues and thinks Thai government is insane with all the visa rules. She was disinterested about extremely violent road accidents (she drives like a maniac). She thinks Chinese are more dangerous than Russians (she is Chinese). She doesn't understand why some posters are gloating about MG cars. She rolls her eyes at any mention of monks (she's a christian)
English level - intermediate.
And your point is?

You say you are on a tourist visa and require an extension need a TM30, fair enough. So why do you need a residence certificate if you don't live here? If you have an extension married or Retirement and returning to the same address and already have a TM30, then no need to do a new one. Yes at Jomtien.

When was the last time you did that?
What you describe is exactly the Immigration 'rule'. However, Jomtien have been insisting on a 'current' TM30 receipt being held (ie dated after your last entry to Thailand) prior to doing any other business ie reentry permit, 90 day report, extension....
TM30 registered 2016. Exit and renter every year with Retirement extension. Last entered end of September 2023 with old and new passports. 2 weeks later visited Jomtien to move stamps to new passport, no mention of doing a new TM30. End of December 2023 registered my 90 day report online, accepted by immigration, no mention of having to visit to do a new TM30.

Not just letting them know his new passport details, I think. Since he plans to enter Thailand with a 30-day visa exemption he needs to check with them specifically whether or not he will be permitted to board his return flight in the absence of a confirmed onward flight reservation out of Thailand within the following 30 days. IMHO he would be strongly advised to purchase a cheap throwaway ticket for an Air Asia flight within this period to a destination in an adjoining Asean country in any event.
Yes agree that as well. I was specifically addressing the OP's question.

Hi guys. Does anyone have any recommendations for an Android TV box. I know about the Firestick but I prefer plugging direct into the box with an Etherley cable. The Nvidia I see is excellent but expensive. Does anyone know a good budget model? Last year I bought an H96 Max box which is useless, the WiFi signal is so weak on it. Thanks

i have purchased quite a few things off Facebook Marketplace, usually with a happy ending.
That's the first time I have ever seen a "happy ending" as a payment option on Facebook Marketplace.

A marriage visa, not that that makes any difference. I went and enquired at the office because I was aware, through friends, that Jomtien immigration always requires a new TM30 when returning from outside Thailand. If its not done you wont get your next extension until its done.
That is not correct. I did a TM30 years ago and I fly in and out of Thailand every year returning to the same address. I am on a Retirement extension with a re entry permit. I do my 90 day reports online and this year entered with a new passport. No mention whatsoever of a new TM30 from Jomtien Immigration.

Enter the country with both passports.
Pop along toy your local Immigration with both passports.
You are assuming that he has a visa or extension in his old passport. No mention of that. He just needs to show his new passport and to let the airline know his new passport details. Simple.

I entered with my new UK passport last October, my extension of stay was in my old passport. I presented both and was stamped in my new passport. A few weeks later I visited Jomtien immigration to have the stamps transferred to my new passport. In December I did my 90 day report online with my new passport, which was approved. I have an old TM30 registered from about 7 years ago, at no stage have I been asked to do a new one.

I have used the online 90 day reporting at Jomtien for 2 years now, I am on a Retirement extension. I still have an old TM30 for the same address I logged years ago. This year I arrived on a new passport and had the stamps moved over. Now if I believed all the negative reports about Jomtien I would have had to do a new TM30 and do the next 90 day in person. But no. The report logged online in the afternoon and approved next morning. Excellent service as always from Jomtien.

Not entirely convinced this would work. They do specify on the website that they want to see a confirmed E-Ticket (as stated in the OP's initial post). I don't think an itinerary without confirmed ticket would work.
I can confirm it can be done on the UK site, many people have done it. Some countries do need flight confirmation of flight, the UK no.

A friend of mine, a UK resident, but working in the USA applied for the 60-day tourist visa, included in his application was the flight from US to Thailand, gave proof of UK address, proof of accommodation in Thailand
He should have applied online through the UK Thai Embassy. He could have uploaded a screenshot of a flight from the UK to Thailand, ie an intinary right up to the payment page. This would have been accepted and visa issued. He could then book and fly from the US to Thailand as planned.

I live in a quiet gated community on the Pattaya darkside. All houses detached so no issues. On my right a German businessman with his Thai wife. To my left a family of Thai teachers, never have I seen such a well manered quiet family. Directly across the road a Brit like me with his Thai wife. He is only here half the year, she has a very loud voice that travels but she is ok. Never had a cause to complain about anyone.

Terrible advice. Never ever ask the driver. If you ask the driver you run the risk of your ride becoming a taxi and the cost 10 fold.

But I stayed in touch with the other guy from Europe who had the same experience as me and he went to the Malaysia Thai border to chat with police and ask for advice and they seemed to appreciate his transparency, they can see your history in the computer anyways right. And the next day the same police stamped him into Thailand. I couldn't chat with them first since there's a bus you have to take in Laos border so I just tried to mention my story briefly and the police laughed about it abd said don't worry, but he was already reading my profile in the computer anyways. Crapshoot I guess
Big mistake I think. You gave him a reason to look more closely than he would have. That border has a reputation for being a very easy one to negotiate. Giving him something to look at most definately was an error.

I think it depends on the office. Despite many people rubbishing Jomtien immigration, usually people that dont use it, I find it excellent. 3 months ago when I returned to Thailand with a new passport I visited to change the Retirement extension stamps over. This was a very quick process and collected the following day. When my 90 day report was due with the new passport I submitted an online report in the afternoon and it was accepted and returned the following morning. Cant beat that.

Why did you feel the need to say anything? You should have just given the IO your passport and say nothing. Chances are you would have been stamped in with no issues.

Sounds just like Tops. Officially it's 1000 but when you place an order over 900 it's still free.
One thing that annoys me is that they have followed Macro in only accepting local Thailand credit cards. The first time I went there I paid by my no fee excellent exchange rate Halifax Clarity Card since then its been a no no. I am one of these people who keep as little money as possible in Thailand and prefer to settle my bills at one time in the UK.
New passport ….having information transferred
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
