  1. I got the bus on Thursday Ekamai to Pattaya, three and a half hours, the Bus Stewardess said we stop for for 20 minutes at the Filling Station, it was less than 20 minutes from Pattaya, but invariably we had too wait to round up the stranglers so it was longer than 20 minutes.

i have done this journey recently, 2 hours non stop but in general two and a half hours.

This was the first time I have seen a Stewardess on the bus, she was telling everyone too put their seat belts on, 5000 baht fine she said if you get caught.

  2. When I wanted the internet in my house True Move wanted a year upfront, only Thais can get pay monthly, contracts, possibly they have been 'stung' by Farangs doing a 'runner' ?

Since moving in 5 months I get DTAC Bills for the previous renter, I have informed DTAC but they still keep coming.

your talking re entry permit wasn't the post about 90 day report ?

The title of the post was Amazing Jomtien Immigration, I didn't find it amazing,, it was standing room only so over and above the 25 waiting for a Re Entry Permit there were others waiting and they weren't amazed either or should I say amused.

Who ever designed the building didn't do much research, it should have been twice the size.

The monthly income requirement is 65k baht (780k baht annual).

The only way to prove income is by getting a income letter from the UK embassy by mail. You will need to get a new one every year.

    See: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-obtain-a-pensionincome-letter-for-thai-immigration

If you cannot meet the 65k baht monthly income you can combine your annual gross income with money in a Thai band to reach a total of 800k baht.

Thanks Joe but do I need a proof of Income letter every year, my income won't change.

  5. I am now 65 so can use my U.K State Pension along with my Private Pension as part of 800000 baht for my 'Retirement Visa'

    1) My State Pension letter explains more or less that I will be receiving my Pension till I die, my Private Pension explains how much I receive every year ?

Do I have to send to the British Embassy, around £50 a time every year when to verified when my Retirement Visa is due ?

    2) is there a minimum amount of Income that can be used or do just you make the difference in cash to the 800000 baht ?

  6. It wasn't so good for me yesterday, I went up at 3.30pm for a Re Entry Permit, normally in and out in 5 minutes.

Yesterday collected my ticket as normal, places was mobbed, checked the board 25 clients before my turn. There was the normal 1 lady dealing with them. By my estimations, takes at least 5 minutes per client I wouldn't be seen before closing time at 4.30.

Why were they still giving numbers out at Reception, I approached the Farang assistant pointed out the numbers waiting, he replied 'up to you' !

i returned my number at Reception, of course I forgot its Songkhran next week and people are leaving before the madness, fortunately I can go back after the madness finishes.

The person who signs the form must have parental responsibility for the child; see 'Parental responsibility' on page 9 of the guidance notes.

The child's mother automatically has parental responsibility; but, unless married to the mother, the father does not.

You say 'girlfriend' not 'wife.' So as you are not married, you do not automatically have parental responsibility; even though you are named as the father on the Thai birth certificate.

So, yes; your son's mother should have signed the form.

VFS should have picked this up; but as they are merely a handling agent, I am not surprised that having checked the documents they did not notice this; or, indeed, are aware of it!

However, a simple solution. Send HMPO the letter signed by his mother which they have requested. It will delay things a bit; but, assuming everything else is in order, he will get his passport.

Thanks, letter on its way, it was an expensive exercise, I sent the letter by EMS from Pattaya Post Office, I said 'very fast' please, 850 baht, posted Friday, arrived  in the U.K. yesterday on its way to Liverpool today.

  8. I intend flying into Bangkok on a Single Ticket for various reasons, after that I will be using Return Tickets originating from Bangkok which means I will be arriving in Thailand in the future with no flight booked back to the U. K.

will this be problem with Immigration, I have a 'Retirement Visa' ?

  9.

I went to The Trendy in Bangkok with all the relevant Documentation  for a U.K. Passport for our son, my Girlfriend is Thai.

The VFS rep checked every thing was in order gave me a receipt.

i received an email from the Liverpool Passport Office yesterday requesting his Mother writes, signs and sends a letter, not an email confirming giving them her permission too issue the Passport.

i am puzzled, the VFS rep didn't mention anything, he checked every thing thoroughly.

I signed the original Passport Application, I am named on his Birth Certificate, should his Mother have signed it instead of me ?

Have you looked at the requirements to apply for their passport by going through the steps here. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

    1. No proof of that is needed.

    2. You will need to use your address here in Thailand and will need to show proof of it.

Thanks Joe,  my Girlfriend and our son are registered on her Mothers House Book so I assume that's the address I put on the Application Form not our current address..

  11. I am about to apply for a U.K. Passport for my Thai son, I am named on his Birth Certificate.

    1) My colleague has told me you have to prove you are living as a family in Thailand. He used his House Book, I rent a house so don't have one and only my name is on the Rental Agreement, I can't see anywhere that this information is required ?

    2) What address do to I put on the Aplication Form, my U.K. Resident one or my Thai Address

  12. I am now in receipt of my UK State Pension, I also have a Private Pension.

what documents do I need to provide for proof of income for a 'Retirement' Visa.

I receive an Annual Statement for my Private Pension, I have received details about my State Pension but both will be more than 3 months old when I apply for my Extension.

i appreciate both have to verified by the U.K. Embassy in Bangkok.

  13. I am currently renting a 2 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Single Storey Town House in Central Pattaya in a cul de sac between 3rd Road and Soi Arunotai

It has a new kitchen at the front, the old kitchen was at the back and could be converted into a 3rd Bedroom albeit like the small second bedroom there is no natural light.

The Electrics all look to be reasonably new, Bathrooms are decent enough, there is a garden/parking area at he front across the small access road, I am unsure who that belongs to.

The owner asked me if I wanted to buy it, it would be for my long term partner and her son as and when I depart the planet.

How would I get a 'true' valuation on it, both neighbours are long term and there are no other similar properties for sale ?

  14. I have several Hatari Fans similar to the floor standing ones only mounted on the Ceiling, they also rotate on a spindle.

from what I know they should rotate anti clockwise for cooling but they rotate clockwise.

is there any way to change the direction of them, the controllers have speed settings, 2 x 3 speed settings but they don't alter the rotation, any one help ?
