  1. Does anyone have any information about studying the Thai Language in Khon Kaen.

I am not talking of the local weekly courses or one on one teaching - I am interested in exploring what's available in a more formal atmosphere.

I have heard that there maybe courses available at Khon Kaen University or AUA but can not seem to past the stage of heresay.

Assistance with contact names or telephones contacts or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Ozzydom you have made my day:

I,d give big bucks for a feed of em now, (salivating at the thought) they are an acquired taste like flying fox, the oil is the best leather preservative around ,(and waterproof). Remember the old bloke who used to spray you with suntan oil on the beach at Surfers Paradise? That was mutton biird oil, best tan around, added benefit was ,nobody sat within 10 yards of you.

Acquired is correct jeez just the flinting memory makes me feel crook :o "Laughing"

  3. sanook2me yes the OP certainly appeared to be naieve considering his qualifications and experience but then again some "eggheads" are like that.

I am sure, KK has been around the traps for a fair amount of time and would have been monitoring the situation acting at the appropriate time. (Give someone enough rope and they will hang themselves.)

Message for KK - Tyfon may be too smart for his/her own good.

    I received the following PM:

Thank you for your reply, some of the answers have indeed given me a better idea of what to look for. Sorry to have stirred things up. There are obviously some issues in this forum that I should have spent more time lurking and assesing before posting, but time is not my friend. Guess I'll lay off for a while.

    Thanks again,

    K.

KK - He may have outsmarted himself me thinks.('Lurking' - not so new as this is a sneaky reference to the "What is a newbie post")

Steven no apology, you still need to come down to earth and I am sure if you had bided your time, your "stocks" would not have plummented to such low levels!

egoist, egotist: - These nouns are often used inter-changeably, but there is a theoretical distinction. The egoist is self-seeking, selfish obsessed with his own interests. The egotist is self-centred and self-important, using the word I a great deal, and referring everything he hears to himself. ( The latin source of both words, 'ego', means 'I'.) An egoist might be nasty and ruthless, or sneaky perhaps; an egotist might be pompous and perhaps laughable. An egotist is boastful; an egoist might deliberately avoid boasting for fear that this would jeopadise his advancement.

Oh well back to something I do know about; - :o

  4. I asked a simple question. I can provide the answer myself, if anyone's interested (without using an internet link). I'll try not to let your opinion of my "stocks" (this is usually used as an uncountable in this idiom, by the way) keep me from sleeping too much.

This kind of thread is a common type of Smeg ploy (to get people arguing about TEFL threads, his special monomania). I'd say it's MUCH MORE LIKELY that it's a Smeg ploy than that a person of the OP's alleged quals is for real in this case. If he is for real, my question should pose no challenge at all for him.

Oh, since he has a Bio qualification too, being a doctor and all- can you tell us why we can see easily through goggles underwater but not so well with the naked eye? Oh, why are telephoto lenses long?

Should pose no trouble, no trouble at all for a talented optical/medical researcher. I should be put to sham]

e with the speed of your replies.

    "Steven"

Steven I do not mind admitting that I could not answer your question - but to state it is a simple question - in laymens terms "bullshit".

I have read and reread the OP and I still fail to see where "Tyfon" claims to be a doctor.

He certainly states he is a "Scientist" with a degree in (biology and physics) and masters (physiology).

    Add to this:

1.An Oculist is a qualified medical doctor who specialises in the treatment of diseases of the eye. Now an Oculust is also known as an Ophthalmologist or sometimes an ophthalmic surgeon.

2.The title Ophthalmologist is becoming increasingly popular with Doctors, especially in North America, perhaps because Oculist has been adopted by people who are not qualified doctors.

3.An Optician specialises in lenses and glasses(Optician comes through french from medieval Latin Optica, 'optics', the scientific study of light and vision, which goes back to the Greek Optos, 'visible'.

4.A dispensing Optician makes and sells glasses according to the prescription of an Oculist or Ophthalmic optician.

5.An Ophthalmic optician, more highly trained, is qualified to test sight and prescribe glasses as well.

Now all of this means diddly swat, the OP simply laid out his qualifications and work experience, it would appear the only person who considered him to be prententious was yourself and then you had the gall to say (I knew when I posted that I hadn't spelled it correctly. That was part of your test- which you passed).

Steven before you drop back to your usual diatribe " that I have some sort of an axe to grind - or a chip on my shoulder - or convienent qualifications - come down off your high horse we are not "your students" this is a discussion forum.

If the OP is indeed a troll I am sure KK as the forum leader will soon sort it out.

  5. I knew when I posted that I hadn't spelled it correctly.  That was part of your test- which you passed.  The other part was answering my relatively simple question, which you have not.  Anyone can "pretend" to be a published person- I just have to look up a name.  If your qualifications were truly what you say they were, my question would have been a relatively simple matter.

Too bad, Smeg.  Try again next time.

    "Steven"

"Steven" "Steven" Quote spelled[/b] it correctly]Endquote - try this spelt it correctly?.

Your stocks have hit rock bottom! What makes you think you have the right to level unsubstansiated allegations . A super member you may be (super purely by number of posts) get down off your high horse your not admin nor moderator you are a member with aspirations that are obvious. :o

OP I am sure that some of the answers to your post will benefit some members sometime somewhere.

  6. Ray23 so true, only the other day met a guy from Glasgow (Scotland) who stated the Thais have a problem understanding him, I told him don't worry about the Thais I am having trouble too.

I find the most interesting part of your post to be I have one friend from Tazmania, another from Australlia and there are many from the UK here. When I speak to these guys face to face no problem, but on the telephone I just can't understand the accents.:

I have one friend from Tasmania, another from Australia - Tasmania is part of Australia but it fully understandable that you have difficulty understanding the one from Tasmania especially over the phone, Tasmanians have two heads eat mutton birds and are all part of the same family.

What wrong with mutton birds, never knock em till you try em, great tucker, on a par with young wombat (sucking pig) :D

Ray23 yes they will wait and I guess payback will apply and I probably deserve it so lets enjoy the moment whilst it lasts :o:D:D:D

ozzydom, mate yes everytime we gathered in Wodonga to learn things P Asky-Doran would have his mum send a box of the little buggers to him - for those members who are lucky enough not to suffered a meal of "mutton birds" the closest description that comes to mind is-- ""a smallish bird (scrawny) like an undernourished pidgeon that after being Plucked is soaked in Engine oil for a number of weeks/year before being cooked and Eaten"". :D:D:D

  8. Simon43 asks whether goat rearing is a special skill, such as would allow foreigners to participate in the otherwise forbidden business of animal husbandry. I suggested dairy goat farming is such a skill. I have an even better suggestion: we have been very successful in breeding females. Our May-born goat kids were female to a ratio of 3:1 (the ratio according to nature is 1:1). Our current "litter", born these last two weeks,  is 5 females to 1 male! This remarkable breeding skill could have far-reaching application.

Goatfarmer I think they need your skills in New Zealand, if this skill could be applied to "sheep" you could branch out into a dating service.

US Bound Condoms From Ansell's Thai Factory to be Tested

MELBOURNE, Sept 16 Asia Pulse - The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has decided that all condoms from Ansell's (ASX:ANN) manufacturing facility in Thailand bound for the US market must undergo testing after some shipments failed quality tests.

Gloves and condoms maker Ansell sad the two lots of condoms that failed to meet FDA standards were tested within the last seven weeks.

The Surat Thani plant, from whence they came, has consequently been placed in "Level 2 detention", which is a level of required inspection.

For the plant to be released from detention, at least 10 successive incoming shipments will have to pass FDA testing before release into the US market.

Ansell said condom sales in the US represented a "mid-single-digit" part of the company's total sales.

Ansell shares were 10 cents lower at $10.80 at 1500 AEST today.

The latest test found that 100% of the consigment checked had a hole in one end!

  10. Anon999 firstly I would would agree with your "throw all the balls in the air allows evaluation of all possibilities.

Quote[However, park and ride may offer a solution]Endquote - A great concept works well in many Australian cities. Short and long distances:

    1.Suburbs to the city.

2.The Gold Coast to Brisbane (approx 70kms).

and yes you need the Public transport system to support it - I actually use the concept in Bangkok:

Drive my trusty 1300cc Toyota to Nonthaburi Pier catch the River express boat service to Nonthaburi pier and take the river express boat to Sathorn.

Park and ride could be co-ordinated using the curent passenger vans as the multiple person medium.

Anon999 don't let it get you down we all make mistakes it's just I can't remember the last time I messed up - Probably too :D:o:D

    Cheers "big ears"

  11. 3 years later Jeez I am pixxed off with this new taxi rank system I work 3 blocks from the WTC and during this years Chief Weather Forecasters predicted monsoon season it has been raining cats and dogs for hours - left my umbrella at home - roads flooded but taxi free oh well have to traipse to the WTC to get a taxi home as i happen to live 3 blocks the other side of WTC - hope that taxi driver doesn't mind me getting in his taxi in this waterlogged condition - If I only I could hail one like the good old days. :o

  12. of course, driving around looking for customers will cause some

    traffic congestion, but likely marginal.

    regards,

    --dan

Dan I don't know where you live but just stand and look at the number of taxis there are on any of the major roads. A very high percentage and many driving around looking for a fare. From your comment either you don't visit BKK or you must be blind.

The taxi rank outside the WTC works very well and more of the same would be a big benefit.

I sometimes get the impression that most of the people posting comments have never had a positive thought in their life.

Anon999 One assumes your reference to Dan = the post by Dan 1044 not Danone

    Post by Dan1044

maybe it isn't such an effective tool for oil conservation because

taxis in bangkok don't use petrol - use lpg. if they were using

petrol, they would probably be squealing like stuck pigs same as

the bus drivers were during the rapid petrol price increases.

of course, driving around looking for customers will cause some

    traffic congestion, but likely marginal.

another glorious idea - like closing the gasoline stations earlier.

sometimes I think thais dont deserve this beautiful country.

I feel the only error in Dan1044's post is his reference to petrol not diesel - from your post most members of TV are negative Quote End Quote I only highlight this as it is not an isolated post of this nature from your keyboard-Quote[ If your so clever maybe you should apply as chief weather forecaster]Endquote from the Pattays forum Water Shortage To Flooding - Rainy Season Begins.

mate lighten up debate the issues - Chief Weather Forecast" I predict there will be a monsoon season again next year - what degree of precipitation can not be determined accurately until after the event.-

  13. Penzman The answer comes in two parts:

Up to page 6, 90 posts. page 7 colour screen has enlarged the page so that [ost count is no longer visible page 6 plus page 7up to Limbo = 94 + my input of 1 total to date = 95.

Did I pass the test? :o

  14. Throughout this thread, there is an assumption that it would be a good thing to reduce the traffic congestion in Bangkok. But I beg to differ.

Thailand would be a lot better off if Bangkok was made a lot less attractive than it is.

Then, employers would move out to where their labour force has its roots, instead of setting up in Bangok and getting the workers to migrate to Bangkok---and a proportion of the taxis would go with them.

A heavy charge for entry to Greater Bangkok, and a really, really heavy charge for entry to the Central City would work wonders for Thailand, over just a few years, simply because it would get some redistribution of population away from Greater Bangkok.

All ideas about trying to make Bangkok pleasanter at present (such as this idea of having the taxis pick up 'off street') are attractive for their immediate impact, but neither good, nor effective, in the long term.

This seems to ring a bell which says this has happened in many a western city then 10 years on when the city centre is dead they try all sourghts of things to get people back into the city centre again "openin malls to traffic etc etc - catch 22.

Someone suggested banning vehicles with only one person - once again this rings a bell introduced in Sydney some 20+ years ago - massive sales in blow up dolls (fact).

Pattaya forum Water Shortage To Flooding - Rainy Season Begins (for full story on rain in Pattays) extract re traffic below:

From Kaojai: Why am I not surprised? No matter what's posted here, the delegation of clowns from the Master Race will make their childish, cynical comments.

    From Kaojai -

"These guys never get anything right"

"Let someone in Bangkok suggest an idea for reducing traffic congestion and the idea is immediately dismissed as "stupid."

From the "New Chief Weather forecaster"Traffic Report - 2.17 am Friday 16th Set 2548 - Traffic this morning was flowing freely on all major arterial roads this can be directly attributed to the PM's changing of traffic light timings whch allows for loger periods of "Green" on main roads.

(nb:. there has been a major increase in accidents at intersection due to the drivers on the side roads entering against the red signals - it is possible to prevent this by the errecting of "smart signs" warning the motorist red means stop.

:News Alert" The introduction of Taxi ranks rated as the idea of the century (a possible Nobel prize coming our way) - Installation of GPS next step followed by training on how to read/interpret (car 54 where are you?) and the introduction of a Degree course @ a major university for Taxi dispatchers! (cynical probably)

From Pattays news: we urge motorists especially, to drive safely and reduce your speed during the rain and of course, always wear your safety helmet.

From me: After many hours of researching the possibility of another monsoon next year the only definate result that can be released is without doubt the delegation of clowns from the Master Race who make cynical comments on theThai Visa Forum are wearing their safety helmets whilst driving. (Of course as usual some idiot went too far and was spotted in his car with not only his/her safety helment but also a bright blue raincoat) This proved to be a major distraction to the Policemen on Traffic light duty and caused some confusion with the timing sequence, it shoulf be corrected soon as another "smart sign" directing the men in black/brown not to look at the traffic will be errected shortly.

Pongpat when you head off to school for your next (very first) English lesson please wear your safety helmet.

From Pongpat: VERY WELL SAID....too much stupid relies, although it is very frustrating at times with the things that happen here. Lets all try and keep comments somewhat positive. WE are all in it TOGETHER!

From me: What and by whom was said very well ?

What are we all in together?

I rest my case off to do a bit of weather & traffic watching and hopefully catch the next monsoon and that clown in the "blue plastic raincoat".

  15. From Anon999 "If your so clever maybe you should apply as chief weather forecaster".

From Pattaya news -With a change in the wind direction, the monsoon season is now expected to continue here in Pattaya

From me: I think your suggestion of becoming a weather forecaster is a good one. Should be an easy job just have to brush up on "monsoon season history" - initial research seems to indicate it comes fairly regularly (Annually) - but rather than predict another one next year in my new position as "chief weather forecaster" I will continue sitting here too wait and see if another season arrives next year if this annual event can be confirmed as a definate 100% possibility then and only then will i stick my neck (face) out and warn the authorities so they can look at the possibilty of building a drainage system to cope with the yearly influx of water from these bloody unpredictable yearly seasons.

You have excited me with the prospects that may eventuate - Just imagine being able to confirm that Spring, Summer, Autum & Winter occur each year and maybe even rename them Brightness, Hotness, Downess & Coldness stop first things first lets wait and see if those bloody monsoons arrive again. :D

On a more serious note Kaojai :D about time there was some reality check applied:

  16. Free Homestays in Thailand for Volunteer English Teachers

Come and Help Thai Homestay Host Families

I’ve been asked by Thai families hosting homestays for help on improving their English-speaking abilities. I’m inviting you to provide short-term instruction in Thailand in exchange for free accommodation in their homes as a homestay guest.

Farm families have turned to eco-tourism homestays to supplement their incomes and to meet new friends. But since they are rural people, they are shy about their ability to speak English. Without language skills they have to rely on outsiders who don’t always understand their village history or its customs and culture. The families feel more comfortable if they can talk with their guests directly, and most guests feel the same way; that it enhances the experience if they don’t have to communicate through an intermediary.

This is where you can help.

As I am involved in placing foreign visitors in homestays (and as the idea is still fairly new in Thailand), I have agreed to help them out by seeking volunteers to stay in their homes to expose the host families and their children to the English language and to people from different cultures. For a minimum of one week and a maximum of a month or more, visitors to these homestay villages will have the experience of a lifetime. In return accommodation and meals will be provided free of charge by the host village for the duration of their stay. They prefer teachers who can speak some Thai. Each village needs one teacher at a time and all villages are in the Chiang Mai area. I personally think that these villages have some of Thailand’s most stunning scenery and the people are lovely.

You would have to arrange your own transportation to the village but I can provide directions. If necessary, I can coordinate with the hosts (no charge) to meet you somewhere between Chiang Mai town and the villages. Your help will change the lives of many.

Interested? Please call or write to me (e-mail is best) for further information and work out a schedule for you.

Bina what you have described seems to be different this is not a "Farang" paying for homestay this company is developing the homestay concept (good on them) and hopefully the host families will receive payment, but their add is asking "Teachers" to volunteer their services - still no major problem (except it is illegal) and there is no mention of recompence for the family whilst the "English Teacher" enjoys their hospitality and I assume it would be explained as "you (the family) provide the food & lodging then we (DECBMTP Limited) will provide a teacher to help with your English - still no major problem if all the cards are put on the table.

When you read the OP this is not the perception conveyed it appears as though vienna

    Homestay Reviewers Needed

Want to see more of Thailand for FREE? Want to get out at the weekends?

If the answer is YES to the above, you may be just what we are looking for!

We are a new UK travel operator aiming to enable UK holidaymakers to book visits to Thai homestays as a different way to experience the real Thailand. (Homestays are local Thai people's houses where the owner agrees to host visitors for an agreed price.)

We are looking for English speakers to visit our homestays as a 'guest reviewer'. You do not have to speak any Thai. We would particularly welcome applicants living in the North (Chiang Mai; Chiang Rai) and the South (Krabi and Phuket) as well as Bangkok.

We will pay for you to visit a homestay somewhere local to you in Thailand for a weekend (Friday and Saturday night). We need you to take some brief notes and lots of (digital) photos based on our brief and to tell us all about it when you get back. If you like the homestay and would recommend it to people visiting from the UK, your experience may be used to advertise each homestay so they can attract potential bookings.

Your accommodation (including some meals with the family) will be paid for and travel expenses (up to 1500 THB) will be reimbursed to you on receipt of your review.

If you are interested please contact me:

  18. To be fair, although what Ken says is technically correct, this law is one that gets kinda selectively enforced depending on how annoyed the gov't is- and I can't see them hassling folks about this kind of volunteer work (although TIT and who knows, etc., etc.).  It sounds like a lovely opportunity for a village getaway for those who haven't had other reasons to experience one.

It's also a sign of how the gov't needs to liberalise those laws.  Presumably the permit is designed to protect local jobs and make sure taxes are paid, but for non-political, non-missionary volunteer work bordering on tourism that could not possibly be done by a Thai, it seems just silly to require a work permit.

    "Steven"

Steven you may not be able to see the Gov't hassling folks and think it "silly to require a work permit" but I think you need to take off your Rose coloured glasses this is a business (DECBMTP Limited)

    DECBMTP Ltd.

Host Reviewer Brief - September 2005

    Company introduction:

We are a new UK travel operator wanting to enable UK clients to book short visits (averaging 2 nights) with families in Thailand as part of their 2-3 week holiday. Clients will be able to choose their hosts from a website which will present basic host information alongside comments from previous guests (possibly yours) and photographs of the house, host and surrounding area.

We have chosen a select few families to offer to our clients from launch based on our understanding of the quality of experience our clients will get from visiting them as guests. It is our aim to offer as rich a variety as possible in terms of 'host experiences' in order to reflect a little of the extraordinary variety of lifestyles that exist in Thailand today.

Although we have visited each of these hosts in person to secure their agreement to work with us, we have not been able to stay with all of them. Therefore we need you to visit our host as though you were one of clients on holiday. We very much hope you will enjoy your stay and participate in the host family activities as much as you feel comfortable. However, we would also like you to be observant so that we can 'debrief' you afterwards about the experience.

NB: Please be aware that you will staying in our hosts' guest rooms which, although clean and tidy, may vary in comfort levels in comparison with Western accommodation standards.

    Host Review:

We are interested in the following questions about your experience with the host family:

    - did you enjoy your stay?

    - were the hosts hospitable?

    - did they include you enough in family life?

    - what (activities) did you do with them while you were there?

    - did you visit any local places of interest?

    - what was the food like?

    - what was the atmosphere like in the family?

    - what was the highlight of your stay?

    - what would you be worried about for other guests visiting?

    - was the accommodation clean and tidy?

    - was the accommodation comfortable?

    - were the hosts willing to communicate (despite any lack of language skills)?

    - were there any noteworthy or unusual features to the house or family life that you observed?

    - what was the local area like? (neighbours, shops, walks etc)

    - if you were telling your friend to choose this host over another what would you say about it?

    - what story from your stay with the host family would you be most likely to tell your friends?

    Photography Brief:

We would like to have a copy of any photos you take during your stay and your permission to use them. In particular, we would appreciate it if you could take photos of the hosts, the house and any activities you do there or locally and of the local area (the local market, temple, scenery etc). Please take as many photos as you can but ensure that they are taken at high-quality (resolution) so that we can reduce them afterwards if necessary and, finally, please confirm that you are willing to burn your photos to a CDRom and send them (within 5 working days of your visit) via registered post to:

  19. I was advised by another Australian " you can not obtain a visa for entering Laos at Mukdahan, you must obtain one at the Lao consulate in Khon Kaen prior to making the trip.

Lao visa can be obtained at the ferry terminal at Savannakhet prior to going through the Lao immigration point for 1500 baht for a 15 day visa. The visa window is about 5 metres from the immigration windows.

At Mukdahan you simply buy the ferry ticket and board the ferry. Once you get across the river you go into the ferry terminal and pay for the visa.

A couple of my aussie mates who are on Non Imm B visaa have been using Mukdahan/Savannakhet as their visa runs for the past couple of years.

Sezzo Thanks for the "heads up" when I said "Mukdahan" it was intended to cover the Lao (Savannakhet) side of the border too. I wondered about it when this older guy passed on the "no entry visa obtainable" but did not know hence accepted it as correct.

  20. This post and the responses speaks volumes for the TV members and dispels the ungainly thoughts of that idiot in Thai Visa Post Bag ( not Penzman he/she only provided us with the information)(See the Penzman -General Topics - I, You, We've Got Mail!)

Syd look on the bright side and stick it up em (the Quacks I mean) I have consumed the odd ale or two in my day but my real downfall is women - if my good old Dad had gelded me a birth I reckon I would be richer in Baht than the PM but much more poorer in the experiences of life.

An Australian Prime Minister once said "Life is not meant to be easy" - Not long after this He was in the news again He was caught without his pants in a Hotel somewhere - Moral Live life to the fullest.

  21. Turbo Charger life expectancy depends upon many things amongst them are:

Type of engine oil used, in the late senties early eighties what was known as series 3 oil was introduced (different brands differnt identifying methods) its purpose was to accomodate the driver who arrived at his/her destination and just simply switched off the engine not allowing a run down time for the "high RPM Turbo" to also come to rest prior to closuing the engine down.

The majority of turbocharger failures are found to be due to poor operating procedures; lack of, or improper maintenance; or incorrect repair practices.

How often have you seen diesel powered vehicles in Thailand belching "black smoke" - Excessive black smoke is unburnt fuel and contributes to greater wear and tear on the motor.

    Preventative Maintenance:

Years of experience has shown that the largest percentage of turbocharger failures are caused by lubrication problems such as restriction or lack of oil flow and foreign material in the oil. The second largest percentage is caused by foreign objects entering the compressor and/or turbine wheels. Good maintenance practices should be observed, particularly regarding air filtration and oil quality and filtration. Innovative Turbo Systems recommends using a high grade synthetic oil in the correct viscosity and follow the vehicle manufacturers recommended oil and filter change intervals. Racing and/or severe applications needs more frequent intervals. These areas are important because of a turbochargers speed of operation. Proper operating procedures and preventive maintenance practices give good turbo service life and performance. Since lubrication is supplied by the engine on which the turbocharger is mounted, periodic maintenance in the usual sense is not required on a Innovative-type turbocharger, with the possible exception of occasional compressor stage cleaning. For these reasons, preventive maintenance of a turbocharger consists primarily of ensuring that the integrity of the engine/charge air system is maintained and that the engine is not operated in a manner that is detrimental to the operation of the turbocharger and engine. The vehicle owner should be encouraged to observe the following precautions to ensure maximum turbocharger service life:

1.Operate the engine above idle only after normal engine oil pressure has been established. Revving the engine immediately after start-up can force the turbocharger to operate at maximum speed before the bearings can be adequately lubricated. A turbocharger running with insufficient lubrication can suffer some amount of bearing damage. Repeated occurrence may lead to premature turbocharger failure.

2.Take steps to reduce temperatures and speeds from their maximums before shutting the engine down. turbochargers operate at speeds and continuous temperatures that are higher than most other machines. When an engine is run at maximum power/torque output, turbocharger speeds and temperatures are also at maximum. Problems can be caused for the engine and more so for the turbocharger when the engine is shut off at this point. This may require operation at medium idle or at "light load" conditions while still maintaining full engine oil pressure and airflow over the cooling system. Following these guidelines will prevent prolonged turbocharger rotation without lubrication and the formation of carbon deposits that can form as residual oil is decomposed in the bearings and center housing (heat soak-back).

3.The turbocharger may need to be pre-oiled after an oil change or any service that involves oil draining. Crank the engine a few times before allowing it to start, then start the engine and allow it to idle for a period to establish full oil circulation and pressure before operating at higher rpm.

    4. At low ambient temperatures, or whenever the vehicle has not been used for a long period, normal engine oil pressure and flow is affected. Under these conditions the engine should be started and allowed to idle for a few minutes before operating at a higher rpm.

5.Avoid long periods of engine idling. The combination of low-pressures in the turbine and compressor and low turbocharger shaft rotation speed may allow oil to seep past the seal into the turbine or the compressor. This will generally not harm the unit mechanically, but it may foul the wheel and cause slight smoking and a possible imbalance condition.
