The big problem is that you need half a brain to realise that the pollution you generate burning your stupid corn fields, is a problem.
And you need a brain because it's overwhelming forest fires, not corn.

The whole article is nothing more than fantasy - the overwhelming majority of fires are forest fires, not farmers burning crops.

The Thaiger is clueless - Chiang Mai isn't about to have severe pollution, it just had some and the air quality this morning is as good as it has been in a month.

Haven't tried CBD but half a joint before bed gives me the best night sleep ever - and I say that as someone who has been treated for insomnia in Chiang Mai. Verus melatonin and diazepam, marijiuana doesn't result in waking up groggy nor delivers weird dreams.

Forest fires plural - there are people wandering around Ob Luang National Park starting dozens of them every day.

You can pay upwards of thousands of baht for a custom made pair or go to Chatuchak or any local flea market and pay 100 for a good used pair. I think Uniqlo would be good for price and quality....
This post is in the Chiang Mai group. Why would op go to Bangkok when he can have pants made in CM?

Stopping people from starting fires is how you tackle the problem. And the Governor of Chiang Mai has proved that in January.

Freezing with 2 to 4 degrees???? Freezing cold indeed but no frost
There has been frost on Doi Inthanon for the last 3-4 days.

Border pass can only be obtained if you live near the border and reason to go in and out regularly. Other Thais all need passports.

Am I missing something here? " Foreign nationals must show passports or other valid identification" is what it is currently - what's new?

A friend is coming to visit Chiangmai soon, and he plans to get a 30-day extension on the day his visa-exempt permission to stay expires. So does he have to start the process before 8:30AM? Can it be all done on the last day of permitted stay? What documents need to be submitted or shown beyond the TM7 and passport?
He can do it after he arrives or the last day. Would recommend doing it at Central Festival Immigration - easier and quicker and make sure he has a copy of the TM30 - it's the first thing they'll look for. Also no need to do it at 8:30 at Central Festival - just turn up whenever.

I went in the Chiang Mai immigration last July for a 90 day retirement and brought with me 1 copy of the required documents and they wanted 2 copies of everything. This was after I received clearance from the inspection tent out front. So better make 2 copies of all the documents. Also make copies of the TM-30. I got there at 8:00 am and it was getting crowded by 8:30.
Then do the 90 day at Central Festival - the only thing they require is the form and it takes no more than five minutes in and out.

You don't have to file a new TM30 for an extension of stay - this is presuming you already have one on file.

About 10-20m from the old one towards the Thapae Gate - you can see the new Johns Place while sitting in the Moat House, the pub on the spot of the old one. Could even be in the spot of the old German restaurant/bar.

Been closed to foreigners since around July. CR immigration for an extension or you can pop across the border into Laos from Chiang Khong or Chiang Saen.

Was certainly open on Thursday 23rd Nov. Wife crossed and came back with booze.
It's open to Thais and Burmese, not foreigners.

Traffic this time of year will be your only problem.

What do you mean by they are not offering train tickets at the moment? When are you trying to book for? If it's the new year period, 100% guaranteed they're sold out. Also make sure when you're doing a search that your starting station is Krung Thep Aphiwat, which is the main terminus in Bangkok now.
Would recommend booking directly as well.- 1

Christmas Fair. I tried to go on the weekend but gave up due to the insane traffic. Apparently they were offering a chance to win iPhones as well, driving even more Thais to visit.
