unfortunately I yet have to see any business class seats which are such closely fitted together, that one fat person could occupy both seats

many BC seats are actually small single cabins nowadays, in many airplane types

If I was any of them, I would sue them in IATA terms for violating my right to be seated in my booked class. Also, for not being able to produce seat belt extensions for Business Class seats, which was apparently the true reason they were refused by the Thai staff. Just another "We cannot loose face" story . . . .

I use to fly Qatar business class, and they GOT seat belt extensions in BC . . .

This incident should cost Thai Airways a few points in ranking among World's airlines, for them just to remember to treat their passengers respectfully

Great to see a sensible answer rather than the insulting remarks by most the posters here where you all seem too stupid to realize that actually these insults rather than badly demaean these three ladies actually lessens all you as people.

And furthermore I wouldn't be surprised if many of the posters are actually fat old Europeans here on retiremenet visas chasing young girls who are way to smart for you and scamming every dollar they can out of you.

I reckon you're just upset because the IO stamped you in without any extra questions,

hoping you could report about the awful treatment you received.

Where are these pens of which you speak and why would you need to use one?

I fill out the form on the plane stating where I'm staying, and flight details etc, but

then again I fly in and out quite often and prepare accordingly.

I too fill out mine on the plane on the fold down tray that I've wiped down with my own sanitizer when I first boarded the plane

Your evaluation and comments are not all true.

Plenty of Chinese not part of what you are describing.

Mostly younger staying in condos 1000's of them everyday especially in Pattaya. At The Base alone, I would guess 200 a day coming and going. Add just Unixx and Centric and it is many many more.

Coming here 2 or 3 together lots of females not part of any tours or being herded.

Totally agree. I live most the year in New Zealand where friends own Air BNB's and their biggest customer group which has evolved just in recent years is Chinese who are touring the country in rental cars. Not groups, just 1 or 2 cars. These just aren't young Chinese either but of all ages.

  4. Hi I am ontop of streaming and I would advise to use an Xiaomi Mi 4 Tv box which is excellant for the price and far better than all the others I have tried except the expensive Nvidia Shield streaming box which is 3-4 times the price of the Xiaomi. I recently switched to the Nvidia from the Xiaomi and it is a better picture slightly but streaming abilities are similar. Debatable if it is worth the extra money.

  5. Hi I have a Thai wife living in NZ with me and we always return to Thailand each year for 2-3 months. For 10 years I have always arrived on a visa exempt entry and at 30 days travel to one of the neighboring countries for a few weeks before returning to Thailand and getting another visa exempt entry, never been a problem. I have also regularly extended my 30 days visa exempt entry for the allowed extra 30 days and have never overstayed or breached my entry conditions. My travel agent has told me I will not be allowed into Thailand without either a visa or airline tickets out of Thailand before my 30 days is up. I don't think anyhing has changed but thought I had better check here just incase.

    Appreciate all sensible advice

    AJ

If leaving the country from either airport in Bangkok you will not be fined for a overstay of less than 24 hours. They just put a note in your passport that you overstay less than 24 hours.

At other airports or at a border crossing you will be fined 500 baht.

A one day overstay should not cause any problems in the future.

    Thanks for the info

You are not even allowed to paint your own house. This is work a Thai could be employed to do. If nobody complains you should be sweet. I don't know if posting it on social media is the smartest move.

I answered you but forgot to add quote but aswell as my answer below a quick search found this from https://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/prohibited-work-by-foreigners-in-thailand-t3372-30.html and I'm sure if you search you will find other similar stories

2 individuals in Bangkok,1 swede and 1 Scot were arrested for painting their own house and the Scot for building his own wall, while I lived in Bangkok! The Scot was deported and the Swede warned and fined! The Scot ,I had met and had some small talk prior to his arrest,The Swede was a friend of a friend!
  8. I've a friend who owns a couple of hotels in Jomtien and it was a friend of his who got hauled over the coals for painting his house. It was awhile ago and under a different government but I guess somebody complained and the authorities paid him a visit. Can't remember if he was fined or just harrassed. As I said in my initial post i wouldn't worry about it and doubt it will be an issue unless somebody complains

No they don't, the journey is only 2,5 hours anyway (3.5 hours by road) - Koh Yai and Phi Phi are in the middle although Ao Nang is closer for Koh Lanta but that's really all there is.

I've done both the ferry and road but seem to remember the road trip a little longer like closer to 5 hours but it was awhile ago and my memory isn't what it once was. The reason I traveled by road was the ferry to Phuket wasn't running, I thought it was because it was low season but it may have been weather related, again my memory fails me. I go to Ao Nang often but flying from BKK most times as cheap enough or occaisionally overnight train, sleeper 2nd class and bus from Surat Thani I think it is. She wants to do Railay aswell so personally I'd base myself at Ao Nang but I don't like Phuket that much so that's a personel thing.

It's simple enough to get to Railay Beach from either Phuket or Phi Phi, there are frequent ferries from both locations and the trip is quite short, Ao Nang is the nearest major stop which is only 15 minutes away from Railay but some ferries do stop at Railay itself.

Perhaps consider a companion to help carry your bag, there will be lots of volunteers the moment you leave the airport.

Do the ferries stop for the wet season? Maybe base some of your time in Phuket and some in Ao Nang which is closer to a lot of the islands

Teaspoon may really really have to try, but the toothpaste for the itch is a 50/50. I do toothpaste and the liquid in the Thai inhalers (POY-SIAN). Does it matter when you apply the hot teaspoon to the mosquito bite? Or is it a matter of being in a few hours from your experience?

Poison is the mosquito enzyme. After my body changes its chemistry last year while in mid 50's, I have become a mosquito focal point and allergic. Tough getting older sometime.

Thank you for your reach out.

they bite me and the itch lasts for the evening but that's all. Ny Thai partner lives in NZ with me and we have sandflies and man does she react to these and lasts about ten days, with swollen bites. Again for me the sandflies itch for the evening and then are gone. Eating marmite stops the sandflies' biting but never tried it for mossies.

  13. I married my Thai partner who has NZ residency and has lived with me there for the last 4 years. We come to Thailand for about 3 months each year and I've always come on a visa exempt entry but only being able to get one thirty day extension always have had to fly out the country and return. Now we are married what is my best visa option? We haven't registered the marriage yet but have all the paperwork done when we visit her village in the north and will take it to the Mae Fai Luang amphoe and get it registered. Cheers.

What about people who transit back and forth spending some time in their home country and some time in Thailand.  Each to their own.  Don't think too much about it Op.  It's nobody' business what a individual choses to do.  Last time I checked, flights in Thailand go both ways.  Maybe it becomes an issue for farangs that have been 'in-country' too long and over time develop "face" that they can lose.  I've met that type.  However,  most long-termers I've met wouldn't care what anyone thinks.  I've been here over a decade.  Leaving the country is always my 'Plan B.'  Would I end up back in the Homeland?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

that's me, back and forth. Anywhere from 3-6 months a year in Thailand and the rest in NZ. My wife has Kiwi residency and works when we are in NZ and saves every cent for our Thai trips. I support her while we are in NZ and go skiing thanks to my friendly doctor scamming a medical certificate to get membership to the para skiing which gets ne cheap as lift passes. Living the dream.

I stand corrected, seems like these endependent exchanges do indeed offer slightly better rates. BKK Bank TT rate today 31.12, SuperRich 31.28. That's about half a percent better. I'll personally still stick to TT for the flexibility and convenience.

My favourite place close to where I stay when in BKK is on the corner of 7/1 Sukhumvit. Can't remember the name but rates better than banks and if I take the time to get ny money all in $100 notes I get a better rate than other denominations. I know, it doesn't make sense but that's the way it is
