  1. I need either a crankcase for a Yamaha f100 outboard, or maybe a 60-115hp motor if I find a good value on a secondhand motor. The Yamaha dealer in Phuket wants 50k for the used part, or 90k for new, which seems like a crazy price to me. So I'm looking for other options/markets/sites. I've looked around facebook marketplace etc. I actually even ordered the part on ebay from a USA seller, but after a month of waiting ebay refunded me saying they couldn't ship it internationally, with no reason given. Just looking for some help finding a fair price on the part so I can get the boat back in the water before my dad visits. Thanks everyone.
  2. Thank you for that @BritTim, that's what I was hoping. I can't really see why anyone would see it as a problem, but wasn't sure. Maybe I'll chat with the labour office anyway just for fun ;)
  3. Hi all, if one has a retail business based in the USA, lives in Thailand on a Thai Child Dependent Visa (Non-immigrant O), would there be any issue with exporting products from Thailand to USA for retail sale in the USA? There would be no need or desire for an office or employees here. I'm a bit allergic to paperwork, so if it's a huge pain I'll probably just skip it, and continue importing from elsewhere. But if the attitude is to make it easy for foreign companies to buy and export, I may pursue it. I'd appreciate any input, resources, and sharing of past experiences, thank you.
  4. Hi guys, thanks again for all the info. It's been about a year since I posted. My daughter and her mother (as well as her teenage daughter) now live in Phuket near me. I support them financially and visit daily. I'm currently on an ED visa with about 8 more months to go on that, so I'm thinking now might be a good time to get started on this child/dependent O visa (not sure the exact correct term). I would really appreciate any recommendation of law firms who are experienced and capable with this sort of visa, with good customer service at a reasonable price. I've done some searching around and looking at reviews of various firms, haven't yet found one I feel comfortable with. I'd like to do a brief phone or email consultation with maybe 2 or 3 firms to tell them my situation and get their proposal. I'm not sure if it matters much where the firm is located, like if there might be any advantage to using a firm with an office in Phuket or not. Thanks again for your advice everyone, it has been very helpful.
  5. You may want to look at the details of that visa, if it does happen. When I read through it I saw it as very unrealistic for all the digital nomads I know. Long list of requirements that exclude almost everyone.
  6. Dart12, which province are you in? Possibly care to share your agent's contact info with me? Is that ok here? Or is direct messaging a thing here? I know some other students here recently did the same. Basically paid an extra fee to an immigration office in another province, 13,000 or 14,000 baht I think. Thanks for the info.
  7. The teacher at my language school had heard that, I think from the Phuket immigration officers she keeps in contact with.
  8. Thank you. My teacher had heard the Ranong border would be opening. My last ED visa ended about a year ago and I've been on these 2 month "covid extensions" since. I have paid the school for my next ED visa already, but we haven't yet been able to start it, immigration wasn't allowing new ED visas to be started lately, just the 2 month extensions.
  9. Hello Hive Mind, Now that the 2 month "amnesty visas"/"covid extensions"/whatever you want to call it seem to be finished, I'm looking at my options to start my ED visa with the minimal possible hassle and travel. I paid for my ED visa just before all the travel restrictions started, and it seems its time to finally start it. I prefer to avoid traveling out of Thailand and back into Thailand just to start this visa, if possible. My school has had some students pay a "fee" to an immigration office in another province to start the ED visa without leaving Thailand. I'm not sure if that option is still available. Any thoughts/tips/contacts/resources? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any help.
  10. Hi everyone, I've read the basics about the Dependent (Non-O) Visa, but was wondering about a few details. Any help is much appreciated. My questions are: 1. I live in Phuket, and my daughter was born in Phuket 6 months ago. Her mom owns a house in Phattalung and that is the address we gave for her birth certificate, which was registered in Phattalung. I rent a house in Phuket, and they stay with me sometimes, and sometimes they stay at her mom's house in Phattalung. Currently they are unable to visit Phuket due to travel restrictions. My question is, can I do the visa application here in Phuket? Or would I need to apply in Phattalung? 2. I was on ED visa, which expired in January. I have been doing the 2 month visa amnesty extensions since then, which my school helps me with. It's easy, I just show up every 2 months for a photo and pay 1900 baht. Does anyone know how long these might continue? I have about 6 weeks left on my current extension, so I'm considering getting started on the Dependent Visa. But if I can get more extensions I might just keep doing that for now. 3. Are there any agents in Phuket who are experienced with Dependent Visas and charge a reasonable fee? (hopefully ok to ask here?) My friend just finished his Dependent Visa, and said it took him 4-5 trips to immigration, but the agents he looked at wanted 20,000 baht, which seems quite high for the amount of work involved. 4. If there's anything you'd like to point out that maybe I didn't think to ask, I welcome any helpful input. Thanks as always, there are some of you in here who have really helped me out a lot over the years. It's much appreciated.
