  1. Hi Joe,

I will extend my single entry non-o (marriage) visa in March to 60 days. After the extension I will be getting a new Canadian passport in Bangkok as the pages have run out.

Does the extension of stay need to be transferred to a new passport? I know visas don't and 1 year extensions have to be transferred. not sure if it's any different for 60 days.

    Regards

Owning my condo in BKK means no rent so very comfortable but if the AUD keeps tanking like predicted I will sell it and kill on exchange rate and go back to oz and come here as a tourist.. Sounds good actually

I wanted to buy a condo in Bangkok for the longest time. No doubt I would have made money if I bought 5 years ago - 30% on the currency exchange alone.

However, I am skeptical when it comes to selling. I see condos on the market for over 1 year on average (comparing to 2 weeks in Toronto where I own a condo) and I am not even sure if they actually do get sold. I also think there is some tax to be paid if you own a condo for less than 5 years. Then there is an issue of transferring money back home.....

I went to the bank to make our house payment for our new by the ocean house $400.  Same thing in the states costs $1200 (big down payment) that gives me $800 to buy milk. ????

I don't know about the important things but the largest budget item in almost any budget is housing.

Sorry fella you are way off base.

    https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Thailand&country2=United+States&city1=Rayong&city2=Sarasota%2C+FL

Big difference is that you actually own a house in USA.

Numbeo numbers are deceiving. They take the average numbers.

The condos in Bangkok may appear cheaper, for example because places with cockroaches, toilets on balconies and Cambodian slave labor construction are taken into account.

Oh, so now he has student loans which you conveniently forgot to add when putting up this ridiculous OP.

Jesus Wept, perhaps I should get me a loan at one of them 90 million baht Ritz Residences, so I can prove that I'm spending more than $3,500 a month in Thailand.

Think your referring to swampy. Certainly not case in don mueang. I always take tm8 with photo all filled in. The 200 charge for processing form, photo etc at swampy I would gladdly pay instead of the trip and wait at CW. Has anyone provided their own form, photo and paid 1200? Just curious. BTW op mentioned Saigon. Good bet he would be using DM

Correct, 200b is the "processing" fee which in all honesty I don't mind paying and it saves me a headache in case "picture no good".

nothing is 100% safe buddy but DHL and Fedex IS more reliable and on time than EMS. EMS in many countries don't accept shipments of precious gems or metals. DHL / Fedex has way better tracking for in case when your package gets lost or mis delivered. When you ship expensive stuff, you want to know exactly when it will arrive. Not to mention, have you ever seen the local post office handle boxes? I actually buy and ship stuff weekly, 4/10 boxes are always damaged/ crush when delivered by local post office.

You still don't get it, do you?

Yes, that's what the department of employment told me when i asked them, and that's also the conclusion to which you will come if you read different news regarding this topic. Here another news: https://www.chiangmaicitylife.com/news/immigration-officers-raid-popular-co-working-space/

Your "interpretation" doesn't make sense at all. If you spend majority of time in Thailand you are supposed to pay tax in Thailand. This is how it works in every country.

Silly or not, there was a news about some guy from Amsterdam I think who got arrested in Thailand for operating a completely legal weed business in his home country.

While it won't stop you from getting a Visa, hopefully you won't have any close friends mentioning it while drunk.

    Just FYI
