  1. Pudgi - like I said lad ignored major warning signs!! :D Those who have befallen this trap - there really isnt anyone to blame, but themselves. So when this sort of scenario unfolds they have been forewarned.

A lot of replies have said the same old thing...old man/young woman stuff, don't do it etc

Hillary's reply was interesting, and it seems not read by many all the way through. A lot of marriages do fail, and without the cultural/age differences etc. Yes, the differences do make it more difficult but many marriages do not fail in those circumstances.

The infidelity and breakup of this marriage can be mirrored in many others, and nothing to do with the woman being a bargirl or young. So stop generalising about these types of marriages and get on with your own lives :o

  2. yes, Thai education is in a dismal state, but as a developing nation it is a priority on the government agenda. The main problem in going forward is that the basic infrastructure for training new teachers and getting better results is just not there.

Comparing results to other countries such as the US and UK is meaningless and does not accomplish anything. Those results are often politically manipulated anyway; it seems relatively easy to obtain 4 straight "A"s nowadays which was previously something to be amazed at.

As to the comparisons between the old films and books made by one poster, that was very selective. There were stupid films and books before, and there are intelligent ones today...you just have to go to the right cinema or book store.

  3. don't worry about people slagging you off if your command of English is better than theirs!! they do that to me too...maybe they cannot believe that a Thai can be educated to a higher level than themselves?

my hubbie also wise and teach me a lot, but I like that...I can also show him a thing or two :o

  4. I am going to my GF's hometown of Phitsanulok in late December.  Has anybody been there?  I try to do a search for it on internet but all I get is a few pictures and historical pieces.  Does anyone have good info on the city and what is all about?

yes, it is a nice small town, nothing much for a tourist to see

It is interesting as a typical Thai place, and used to have some bronze foundries which were worth a visit (maybe still has?)

It is also near famous Sukothai, great for tourists, with the old ruins etc

    have a nice time :o

  5. That's what we're here for :D Now what else do you need to know?

    Welcome to thaivisa :o

Thank you! I have two more questions. Is the AIDS/HIV as bad as I hear, like 50% of the women have AIDS/HIV (or maybe its 50% of the women hookers?) and my second question, what's the best way to greet someone. Shaking hands or bow or what?

It's ALWAYS a good idea to use protection whether you're in Thailand or anywhere else.

was that the answer to the first question or second?

Go back and read my entire reply. It will answer your question.

I was answering Amerithais post, not yours

and do you have a sense of humour, as it was a joke!!

weird! humans are the same the world over, so why these statements. Maybe many farang do not consort with prostitutes back home and find their behaviour different? I don't know.

I do know that PIs exist in many other countries and do the same sort of "work" as in Thailand. So the same sort of behaviour and lack of trust exists there too.

Madam, the sooner you get it thru your thick head that your fellow Thais love to lie and steal, the better, and mostly because of FACE.

What a sheltered life you must lead..... you should get out more. :o

You are a very rude person. Just because I don't agree with your pathetic views, you think you can call me thick headed!

If personal attacks are the only way you can make your point, obviously it has no merit.

Yes, Thais do lie and steal, but strangely enough so do farangs. You seem to think it is our national sport. Well, maybe in the company you mix with, it may be normal, but for me it is not.

If you consider that farangs are rich and obvious in Thailand, then they make excellent targets to steal from, by dishonest people. Your problem is you tar everyone with the same brush...really racist and stupid

get a real life yourself, get out more to normal society

  10. staying on topic, almost

I like a man to be tall and handsome. Must be fit, smooth skin, tight butt

    nice teeth and hair, clean.

Should be charming and romantic, with an excellent sense of humour

Good in bed, can last long time, make me feel wonderful

    intelligent, supportive, good listener

not smoke, drink too much, gamble

so if any man out there can fit all that, maybe you can get girl of your dreams :D

Whoa! Look how tall that order is!

No, seriously now, I think what you've said is quite refreshing. Good luck finding your dreamboat. :D

Maybe she would be better off buying a Ken doll? :o

It's really funny how for 6 pages men have been making demands, and nobody reacts, but as soon as a woman tells you her specs, people have to jump at her for being demanding and unrealistic.

Just an observation, nothing personal. But it's worth thinking about.

I didn't make any demands. Her post, I think was just to goad us a little bit. Another wise it would not be so demanding itself. So, we just teased her back. This isn't a social issue.

yes, no offence taken!! I did post it just to show the other side of the coin, my real demands are nothing like that...better not be, my hubbie would get upset!!

it just seemed so unreal, guys making a wish list

mind you, in Thailand, wishes come true, so watch out :D

  11. Sadly though, this is thailand and one can toss out this commonality alltogether. New rules apply here. It is very very bizarre the happenings here that occur on a continuing basis. They are very very unique. Thanks again, mono

    and another....

"Trust in LOS is not the same as in trust Farangland.

To those of you who have a good, trusting relationship, good luck to you, but not all of us have had good experiences with trusting TGs".

weird! humans are the same the world over, so why these statements. Maybe many farang do not consort with prostitutes back home and find their behaviour different? I don't know.
