  1. Spoke to the wife last night (2 p a min to mobile ...rip off) who is now up in C.M. and she confirms that she is wearing her life belt and green wellies although staying on the fift floor of her mates condo building beside the moat.....must be bad. :o

oh dear, maybe your wife is seeing things as it has been dry for two weeks.

I will be there this weekend, so have been checking

on the other hand, if any tourist is thinking of going to CM, your wife could be right

  2. just checked ..it will be 5th November

so same as the english guy night!!

I think the hotel you refer to is for 2005! the festival is three days, and those dates are for this year

so the 5-8th would prob be the best time in 2006

  3. And of course none of you here have acces to the largest group of pedophiles in the Kingdom because you don't speak their language.

would you like to explain your last remark?

or is it so off-topic and nonsensical that you had better withdraw it?

It is neither nonsensical nor off-topic although perhaps controversial. See my earlier reference about the Bnagkok tea houses, where, if you are unaware, little Thai is spoken.

well it is certainly off topic (Roman Polanski?) but sounds interesting

so tell us more about these tea houses. I have never heard of them, it's true

    so explain

  4. you can find lots of info at google "loi kratong"

feast "LOI KRATHONG" (ลอยกระทง) is a religious event that happens every year on the full moon of the 12th lunar month (first full moon day of November). All Thai people buy or make a "KRATHONG". It is made of styrofoam ( bad choise as it is not biodegradable) surrounded by banana leaves, with flowers and a candle at the middle. Then in the evening, Thai people go to places where there is a river, a pound to launch their "KRATHONG". In ancient times, this ceremony was to excuse one-self to the spirit of the river and to let float one's sins away. Little boys are allowed to take the coin when the candle of the krathong is lit off.

This year it will be on 15th November, next year, depends on the moon

it is wonderful in Chiang Mai, very romantic :o

  5. i thank you for all your relpys but there is some replys that dont understand my question. I love my girlfreind very much and we are like best freinds and i also get on very well with her family. the question was that if my girfreind god forebid should die before me how can i hold on to my house. the

if she gives you a long lease on the house, then that should continue to be operative even if she did die. Make sure a lawyer does it and addresses your problem

I did that for my hubbie, so he feels secure :o

  6. I got this today and the warning appears genuine.

Yesterday, a friend of mine was travelling on a Manchester to Leeds train.

A man of Arabic appearance got off the train and my friend noticed that he had left his bag behind. He grabbed the bag and ran after him, caught up with him in the station and handed him back his bag.

He was extremely grateful and reached into his bag which appeared to contain large bundles of money. He looked around to make sure nobody was looking and whispered "I can never repay your kindness, but I

will try to...with a word of advice for you: Stay away from Leeds"

My friend was genuinely terrified. "Is there going to be an attack?" He asked him.

"No" ... he whispered back. "It's a shithole"

sorry, just something I found :o

  7. It is interesting that this is twice now that Judge has felt compelled to post for what SiamOne meant, so perhaps it's best if I just confined my future replies to him and cut out the "middle man."

To further digress or for the benefit of people that might actually enjoy redundancy or for those unfamiliar with English language sentence structure of the above:

    "Judge" = Judge

    "SiamOne" = SiamOne

    "him" = Judge

    "middle man" = SiamOne

Hopefully we have cleared up any "confusion" and we can now return to the topic at hand.

still confused reading your post again....

if the judge was posting for me, then he was the middleman. and I was the "him"

but thank you for indicating what you actually meant :o

  8. It's not a matter of agreeing with you. It's a matter of speaking for you, which if Judge was more familar with your posts, has certainly never been a problem.

I agree with lots of people here... but I certainly wouldn't presume to write for them.

The middle man comment in italics was indicative of not wanting to write something inanely politically-correct as middle woman.

Whether or not you are a woman really doesn't concern me, although other members have voiced their doubts, it doesn't change my responses to your posts one way or another.

I had not realised he was speaking for me, just clearing up your confusion.

The middleman was referring to him, not me, I think. I mentioned your "him"

In a topic such as this, maybe a womans point of view may be different, for obvious reasons.

Your other point about other members is very funny, thanks for sharing :o:D

  9. It is interesting that this is twice now that Judge has felt compelled to post for what SiamOne meant, so perhaps it's best if I just confined my future replies to him and cut out the "middle man."  :D

But then again, it's nice to see to SiamOne has re-joined this "ad nauseum" and "bored" topic. Welcome back.

    :o

Thanks John. Why would it be surprising that someone agrees with me??

I have even agreed with you in the past. BTW If you think I am a him, you had better read my replies more closely.

  10. …Irish creamer pure butter is better than anything I have ever tasted

    Is it salted?

You expect us to help you find a brand of butter in Thailand that tastes like your “Irish creamer pure butter” but you refuse to tell us whether that favourite butter of yours is salted or not. Why this secrecy?

I suppose if it is pure it would not have any salt!! :o

  11. here we go again :o

nobody has said he was innocent

I have been defending him against those who screamed that he was a paedophile

the justification for this is very obvious and has been discussed

ie the definition of a paedophile

the legal definition of rape vs real rape

the maturity or otherwise of the girl

    ad nauseam :D

  12. It's evident from reading the transcript that the girl was coached in her testimony. But that is neither here nor there.

It is enough to say the Polanski is a fuguitive from justice which is in itself a crime no matter the merit of the orignal charges. He did not come here to claim asylum, after all.

Had he been arrested and extradited we might hope that this thread would be dead by now. In my opinion, that would be a good thing.

I got to agree with that!! :o

  13. Can anyone help me out?

I need to buy a lightbox (you know, for looking at negatives and artwork etc etc) but have no idea where I can find one in BKK. Doesn't have to be big - A4, A3 is ideal.

    Many thanks

    neph

I had mine made, very easy

just a box with small fluoresent lights inside, with a sliding diffusion glass on top

    ask a carpenter or electrician

  14. People who try to justify these crimes on a case by case basis are as bad as the perpetrators.

well that's me. I believe every case has its own character. Especially in such a case where the law just lays down a line which applies to everyone...never mind each person reaches maturity at very different ages.

so I am as bad as Polanski in your book. Maybe the title is "Reactionary Tales"

  15. Not sure what you are alluding to when you say you are unsure about whether he meets the "true terms" of rape. I'm interested in knowing what you mean.

Apparently the judge was ready to hammer him for meeting the "true terms" of rape.

You can read all the posts to see what I mean

there is a big diference between rape (forced sex) and statutary rape, consensual sex, but with underage person

so in law, he raped the girl, as she was underage. He pleaded guilty to that. The whole discussion has been whether the girl was willing or not. her later testimony has had a lot of doubt cast on it. In addition, it was not contested as it would have been in a court.

Thsi argument can go on and on, each side repeating exactly the same arguments

    it is getting boring :o

  16. I am sorry for Mr. Polanski's loss in reference to Sharon Tate and his family to the horrific camps of the Fascist, yet he has no reason to commit crimes in the name of his family's pain.

He did not, it was posters here that used that as some sort of justification.

What Mr. Polanski has done (he was found guilty of a lesser charge) is shameful to say the least, but my concern was over the fanfare he received in the Kingdom and the fact that he was even allowed to visit this country, based on the fact that Thailand wants to potray a better image.

Maybe shameful, maybe not, we really do not know the true circumstances of the staturay rape

I am of the opinion that his immoral acts invalidated his hard earned  status of artist and film making genius.  He will forever remain one of the worlds worst type of criminals in my eyes.

Not in mine, unless he really did rape the girl. I mean in true terms, not legal ones.

In the name of the abused children throughout this world, I pray that he be damned forever to a life of unfullfillment and misery and that he be forgotten forever once he has left this material world.

Once again, if he did abuse a child, and not just have sex with a young consenting woman.

I personally know of a 13 year old who is very physically mature, and attractive to men. I agree that she is legally underage, but she does not care about that.
