Can someone point me in the right direction as I have some farm land on a river in Det and I am not sure what its worth? I need a valuation on it. It is Chanote title and a little over 10 rai - on river and so plenty of free water. Someone is growing on it now but they have no agreement. I have pics and map. Or someone suggest to me how to get it valued

    thanks

If you ask at the local Amphur office, they have land valuations. They use them when calculating what tax you pay when land is bought/sold, instead of using the actual declared selling price.

Sang Saree Farm supplies in Warin. On the main Warin-Det Udom road about 1.5 km from the Warin-Phibun-Det Udom intersection in Warin. On the left hand side coming out of Warin.

    Agreed.

And you lost me with the hippopotamus ???

A rather large young Sioux lady was sitting on a hippopotamus skin. Two slim young Sioux ladies were sitting on a buffalo skin and a reindeer skin, respectively. Which proves that "the squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaws on the other two hides".

I would like to know if you have had any success in getting these maps. I am also after large scale maps of the area between Mukdahan and Ubon along Route 212. I am particularly interested in the area around Loeng Nok Tha, about half way between Amnat Charoen and Mukdahan. I worked there in 1967-68 on the construction of the airfield and a rural development road. I would also be interested in making email contact with people who are currently living in the area or are familiar with it. This includes any Brit or Australian Sappers or others who worked on the airfield/road.

Operation Crown have a website www.creopcrown.co.uk. They have photos of the airfield you mention. Some of the veterans come to our Remembrance Day ceremony here in Ubon every year. I can also provide email addresses if you are interested.

  5. Hi ttl,

Others may have better / more recent information, but I believe a wall, including labour and materials, is about 500 bt per square metre; so about 1000 bt per linear metre for a 2m high wall. I am not sure if that includes rendering (saap).

    Good luck,

    Mike

  6. Is that house or any house for rent in Ubon City or very near?

No one seems to answer that number.

I need a single story house with enclosed yard. 3,000 baht finders fee for anyone who finds the house we choose.

    Thanks

    KDC

It is within the ring road. If you open the kml file I uploaded before you will see the location.

  7. Are their stamps/signatures recognised by the institutions that typically require docs to be notorised?

Yes they are; and I paid about 2000 baht for two single-paged documents, if I remember correctly.

  8. Are their stamps/signatures recognised by the institutions that typically require docs to be notorised?

The place I mentioned has stamps/wording/signature that are accepted overseas. I paid about 2000 baht for two single-page documents if I remember correctly.

  9. I am a farang owner of a restaurant and I have a work permit and work in my establishment with the blessing of the authorities. I never have to pay tea money at all, just do the right thing and you will not have a problem.

I also know another farang bar owner with a work permit as a bar owner.

  10. Off topic I know, but you might also like to try TC Kitchen (next to Laithong Hotel). They have Kebab nights on Saturdays.

    Cheers,

    Mike

I quite like those, though l think they should be called Fraheetas. (My spelling). laugh.png

I think that is "fajitas". You could be right, I don't really know the difference, but Lance's are like the Turkish döner kebab inasmuch as the meat is carved from a rotating spit in front of a fire.

  11. I recently found a good company providing service of "white goods" - fridges, aircons, washing machines, etc. They are a service centre for Toshiba, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG and others, with training certificates on their wall. I wanted a spare part (shelf) for my fridge and they showed me an exploded view of the fridge on their computer so that I could accurately identify the part.

The are on Phadaeng Road, one block north of Wrong Way Cafe, and on the opposite side to WWC. They are directly opposite a prominent sign saying "Lux". The shop is easily identified by all the "Toshibe Service Centre" and similar signs.

  12. .. while we're on the subject, there seem to be no public libraries in Thailand? Is there any kind of book swapping club in Thailand? I can't live without my afternoon read and I don't like Kindle.

I think that the fact that you rarely see a Thai reading a book or even a newspaper is sad, apparently the Vietnamese are avid book readers but they don't have to use an alphabet like the Thais use, do they? Reading Thai gives me a headache after 5 minutes.

Ubon Ratchathani has quite a nice public library. For my own reading I depend on shopping trips to Bangkok and good old Amazon. The only trouble with Amazon is the shipping adds quite a percentage to the book cost.
