  1. I currently reside in Thailand holding a retirement visa, American, age 73, in excellent health. I recently had my blood tested at Saint Louis Hospital along with an EKG, blood pressure checked and all was normal. I'm currently insured with an international IMG medical insurance policy that will be renewing December 20th. I'm looking for an Asian competitive priced policy.  The Asian policy doesn't need to be with international coverage, only Thailand. A good recommendation would be appreciative.

  2. Time to communicate with the family!

If they ignore you leave for a few days and find backup!

If the family asks why you left tell them why in a serious, soft tone.

It sounds like they are bored with you!

You just described why the divorce rate in the world is in record numbers.

And why the younger generation are not getting married, nor having children.

Time to cut back on spending and that may disclose the truth of the relationship.

Leave a voice activated recorder going to hear what they are saying about you behind your back!

Only if you can handle the truth!

  3. I think for those of who have been here for many years have at least once had similar frustrations.

Best to smile, go with the flow, speak a little Thai and be patient.

When it gets overwhelming there is always tomorrow.

If that doesn't work hire a recommended, competent, Thai, English speaking Immigration extension Expediter.

In most cases it generally works out.

  4. I'm hearing some banks in the tourists areas like Nana are now opening bank accounts for tourists to boost their financial numbers.

No doubt with all the loss of jobs, less tourists traveling, less money spent, and low interest rates for so long makes for less bank savers and less cash flow for banks.

The northern flood problems create more cash flow problems for farmers, business people and banks.

All banks worldwide need more liquidity now.

  5. This is a bit off topic.

Many people buy knock off crocs with slippery soles or have other shoes with leather soles.

I recently learned a trick to make them safe on wet surfaces and prevent wear!

While holding the shoe pointed end up, apply curved lines across the sole with a hot glue gun, right to left. Start at the top and work down.

If there is wear on the heal or anywhere, fill it in with hot glue to make the surface flat.

I tried it and it works great.  I did it on all my shoes and it sticks well.  As it wears down, add more.  It actually wears pretty good.

The grip on wet surfaces is amazing.

This was Chiang Watanna for one year retirement extension of stay - and your bank deposit had been in account long enough?  Have been doing retirement extensions at Bangkok for more than a decade and always between 30-45 days early and have not seen any such reports on this forum of them requiring less during this time.

My last extension was made yesterday and was about 33 days early.

Thank you.  Good to know. Yes, my bank funds were seasoned long enough last year.  I just had a grumpy, female Immigration Officer. I can understand why some are grumpy!

    ^^^What lopburi3 said.

The Bangkok/CW Immigration allows up to 45 days early as that is where I apply and have applied between the 30 and 45 day point no problem.  Money and/or seasoning requirement is as of the "application date."

    Thank you for your reply.

    Was your application submitted recently?

I went into Bangkok Immigration last year 45 days early and they told me to come back in 30 days.  I went back in 30 days and the same Supervisor told me to come back in 2 weeks!  I even had airline documentation that I was leaving three days after my first visit and my return was after expiration.  That made no difference.  I finally got the extension two weeks before. I have been living here for 11 years!  I understand why many are leaving Thailand.  I guess I will go in 46 days early and see what happens or just leave the country. Thank you for your response. I understand every Immigration Officer takes a different position.

  9. My retirement extension expires on November 1, 2017.

My question is, how soon can I go to Immigration and apply for a one year extension?

As I recall, last year they were accepting extension applications two weeks prior to expiration.

The sooner the better for everyone that includes home country income, as many currency exchange rates are retreating.

It's impossible to estimate how much extra funding is to be deposited in a Thai Bank when declaring home country pension income to meet the minimum of 800,000 THB. At today's exchange rate figuring US$'s vs. THB that would be approximately $23,529.  As the dollar retreats that could go much higher.  A major currency devaluation would be a nightmare.

The safest way would be to deposit 800,000 THB + in the bank, but that is a fair sum of money to be tied up with so much financial concern in the world today.  Then there is the concern if they increase the 800, 000, THB minimum, with currencies retreating within the 3 month seasoning period!

It's impossible to do an estimation of the exchange rate in 3 months, at the end of October, 2017; at application time.

Does anyone know if there have been any rumors or recent changes to the 800,000, THB minimum required, or the number of months the funds have to be seasoned after the first year?

In view of the foregoing, many of my friends are considering moving out of Thailand to Vietnam or Cambodia where long term visas requirements are a bit more relaxed and expenses are lower, depending on what visa you apply for.

  11. I stay home and watch the number of deaths, and accidents rise on the news.

I occasionally look out the windows in disbelief of the nonsense that I witness.

It all would be hilarious if it wasn't true.

Which reminds me to cancel True cable T.V. next week!

It's a sad time when you have so many channels and many times can't find one station to hold your interest more than 30 seconds!

  12. There is an old saying, "there is a reason she is single!" What is yours?  Be self critical.  We all make mistakes and have to work harder to be better and find happiness.

There is another fact that most women don't remarry over 40! We all have a shelf life that money can override.

It has been my observations over the last 69 years that women that are attractive, no matter what age, smart, self confident, positive, dress well, initiate conversation, help others and are nurturing, don't have to socialize as everyone wants to be their friend!

I believe it's time for you to look in the mirror, and ask yourself how can I make changes to attract friends?  Sometimes all it takes is to initiate conversation,  listen, show an interest in them and help them in ways others never do.

A good heart is hard to find these days.  That may be the answer to your question.

Initiate conversation with two new people a day and soon you will find your phone directory will overflow.  Stay in touch with Line and remember birthdays.  Surprise other women with small gifts.

Start a small club others are interested in. Like meeting for walking, hiking, travel, investing, etc.

Only go to bars if you want to establish a close relationship with alcoholics, people with problems,  the downtrodden, drug addicts, the financial needy, scammers, psychotics, sociopaths, a various selection of personality disorders. And not forgetting the most  miserable, the covert narcissist with their gaslighting manipulations and flying monkeys.  :post-4641-1156694572:

They are everywhere, but bars are their playground and supply.  Your chances of disappointment increases substantially.    You probably already know that.

The big secret is most bar customers don't want a meaningful relationship, because they know they can't have one, or don't want one.  Misery loves company.

Your biggest competion, even if you like women,  are the romantics that savor the 18-30 age group.

Be careful what you wish for! There are caution signs everywhere. Sometimes solo is better in the long run until the right friend/s come alone.

    Good Luck!

  13. Sounds like a no win situation to me.

A diivorce, a new,  younger, lady and a new home would be a winner.

If she doesn't care about your feelings, she may have something new supply on the side herself.

For most, marriage today with all the better dealers, is a bit of a joke in my opinion.

Most women today bring nothing to the table, have their hands out, complaint, are disrespectful and a royal pain in the ass!

Man up and good luck!  :partytime2:

    SHY!? Really ?  No that's ARROGANCE! O

With the 10's perhaps, as everyone wants to be their friends!

The 10's are the worse as many are narcissists and what we perceive as arrogance, is actually a discard as their supply is currently full!

Many years ago my dad told me to forget about the beautiful women and concentrate on a plain lady with a good heart and a soul.   He also said, "some are more exciting than others."

Naturally, I didn't listen and I have been paying the price ever sense.

I've lived here for 11 years and it's my opinion that most Thai ladies are shy,  because many don't speak English fluently.

If you ask them, they will agree.

  15. Be thankful you can still hear wildlife, even if annoying.

Planet earth is losing hundreds of various wildlife species a day.

A time may come when all wildlife may be silent.  :sleepy:
