How many years they been saying this?

We keep getting these flood warnings here too, but where I live, there is hardly any rain at all.
In fact, considering the warnings for NE Thailand, we are in drought.
This is the driest year in 5 years of being here.

It took a meeting of farangs to work all this out?
Could have just sifted through ThaiVisa.

2 months without the 'elixir of life'?
How do they cope. I went 5 days without and was going crazy.

Tourist involved in a high speed crash
Huh.... how 'high speed' was it?
20kmh?

This guy seriously likes fish head soup.

Don't feel too proud Thailand, they only went to you because you are cheap.

RIP big fella

It always amazes me how people can lose control of their case in broad daylight on a straight stretch of road that is reasonable free of traffic.
Taking selfies and chatting on LINE while driving obviously has something to do with it.

what's wrong with beach chairs, umbrellas, cold drinks and snacks being served, if they are not overpriced and reasonable quality? People making living of the tourists there are not mafia
the biggest problem of pattaya beach is poor quality of water, with an urban waste being pumped without being treated strait into the sea for the last 40 yearsThe beach is run by local mafia... They own all the ones in the best places and you have to pay them to pitch anywhere else.
I think you will find these mafia include local officials and police chiefs.
They treat it like they are the owners and if you don't pay, you have big problems.
They also encroach almost all the way to the waterline save for a few feet... basically they gobble up 80% of the beach space, and let's face it.... make it look horrendously ugly, like a squatter camp in Johannesburg.
Maybe a few quality built modern looking beach side bars and restaurants would look a lot better dotted about randomly instead of a claustrophobic huddle of shanty structures.
Jomtien beach next I hope.

Most likely got stitched up. Or fell in love with a ladyboy.
More like stitched up, possibly by the mandatory 51% Thai business partner as required by law.
You wouldn't walk away from your life for a ladyboy, unless of course you have enough experience with them to contest that?

So come on Mr Kerry..... where is all this OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE??????
Or are you SPECULATING on the commentary supplied by the Ukraine government which happens to be the sworn enemy of Russia and vice versa?????
If you want a war with Russia, just grow some and do it.
Keep your dirty nose out, this is NONE of your business. You have just as much blood on your own hands.
Well, one American dead on the flight pretty much allows the US government and investigators a way in.
And you're right, until the hard evidence comes in it's hard to find fault just yet. Those pro Russian rebel coversations could have been faked. Although I don't think Ukrainians are smart enough to do it in reaction that fast.
I think between the two possibilities of the Ukraine government coming up with this so called evidence within hours (far too fast for comfort) and the possibility that they already had this concocted before the incident which is a lot more realistic.
I know which one sounds more logical to me.
Someone is attempting to trigger a war, and I doubt it is the Russians.

The police are no better.
A few nights ago sat in a large buffet restaurant, two police strolled in and straight up to the bill checker. A bunch of notes were handed to the officers ad they calmly walked off... Probably 1K baht from what I could see.
Everything directly in front of in excess of 200 customers.
I said to the wife, 'I thought the Junta would be stopping all this corruption'.. She replied, 'here everyone must pay or they have problems'.
So basically, extortion and protection racketeering, which I rank above loan sharking.... Is alive and well in Korat.

Obviously the Thai drivers try to give extra thrills by dumping their passengers in the water. I have seen it so often.
Now it seems the thrill is by putting your life in mortal danger.
I mean come on for fluke's sake.... cutting across the front of a ship is just completely out of order.
This guy should be banned from taking tourists out.
What goes through the heads of these idiots?... would they do that to their family members??

I hate these idiots.
Confiscate their vehicles and send them to auction to cover the costs of road safety in Thailand.
That'll put a stop to it.

28 YO and already 100 convictions??
So obviously crimes against tourists are not seen as serious in Thailand.
After his second or third time this guy should have been locked up for 2 years and the sentenced increased each time he re-offends.
Just bolsters the common opinion that we are just walking ATM machines and good for nothing but the money we carry.
Jeez... what a judicial system..... It's almost tantamount to 'aiding and abetting'.

I don't see any political division in Thailand and if there were any, it is the red shirts fault.

I have lived in Korat, Muang for almost 5 years and I have never seen a kid begging.
I have seen the odd one selling flowers or food snacks around the restaurants, but I wouldn't call it begging.
There are more adult beggers around stinking of whiskey than anything else.
I give them 10 baht to get rid of them and my wife hates it, but for 10 baht I can't continue my meal in peace. I usually defuse her by saying 'don't criticise others until you have walked a mile in their shoes, because you don't know their life'.
Obviously she is right.
-
I would say checks and balances need to be put in play to stop them falling under the sway of 'Big Politics'.
That does much more damage than a company bribing for good reviews.
Political bias in the media is the biggest tool inthe box for creating the division we have today.

Hopefully the good General has told Yingluck that if she doesn't return on the due date that her and her son and brother's passports will be revoked. Then she will illegally be in USA or UK or France without a valid passport or visa and then have to report to the nearest Thai Embassy to be repatriated. Without a valid passport she won't be able to fly to Dubai or Montenegro to get a new one.
I would suggest that if the passport of the recently deposed democratically elected prime minister of a country now ruled by a junta who seized power in a military coup, were to be revoked by said junta, then neither France, the USA or the UK, nor indeed any other democratic country in the world would regard said ex prime minister as being in any sense illegal!

Codswallop.
It didn't help Thaksin much did it?
He was rejected by the UK.
If she is a proven criminal on the run and tries to use other countries to hide, then it is quite possible she will equally be rejected.
Obviously there is a shortlist of countries specifically for the criminals who have oodles of money.
These countries are happy to allow them, but are not protecting them, they want their money.

One of the tiny minority of tourists that the Pattaya police come through for. Do they know how lucky they are?
No unusual for Patts police to be involved in crimes against tourists.
I think 3 years in prison, deportation and a life ban from entering Thailand should be fair.
We don;t need criminals from other countries, we already have enough Thai criminals.

So anyway, now that the authorities have caught him, he will be going straight to prison to serve his sentence for murder, right???
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/354516-five-red-shirts-jailed-for-murder-in-chang-mai/
And look on the bright side, if he's walking around on his knees, he won't need to bend over to pick up the cunningly dropped soap, although he probably will anyway.
The old thread you are quoting was misinformation, and the TVF member who claimed a murder conviction was banned.
Further, this is the second attack on his home. The first attack was reported in Thailand news in June 2011. http://www.thailandnews.co/category/chiang-mai/page/22/
As I said before, the red haters are slightly funnier than the red lovers -- the pseudo self-righteous attitude lets you have selective memory, posit fictional histories you tell each other, and any comment you don't like creates a name calling spree that makes Gerbils look like an ad rep for McDonald's.
Really, do any of you 'team players' realize there is no team. You do not even qualify to lose.
You are buying what they are selling. Thaksin is a symptom, a bad one, and nothing is being done to treat the illness. He has disillusioned the people he was supposed to be helping, but even when he is gone they will still have legitimate grievances.
You must have missed the reports in the international press that clearly state that on April 8th 2009 this DJ was sentenced to 20 yrs for his part in hacking off the arm of 60 year old Settha Chiamkitwattana before shooting him to death.
That he has been attacked(twice) while on the run is hardly a surprise. If some thug did that to your father I'm guessing you would be somewhat peeved to see the mockery of justice.
You clearly cannot provide any links to these nonexistent International Press Stories because...it is fiction and got a former TVF member banned for posting it (see the icon on the first post of the quoted thread that began this new fictional hate-fest, clearly saying Banned, then read the last post closing the thread to protect TVF from defamation suits).
Red haters are slightly funnier than red lovers -- they feel indignant righteousness all the way to the nearest barstool.
It is hilarious that you pick out your so called 'red haters' and accuse them of only reading what they want to read.
Considering it is actually the other way round.
That member you quote 'Timekeeper' is indeed a banned member, but the closing post was just an advisory to post the link with the source and with the statement 'thread closed for now'

Actually this could have been a deal brokered between the Junta and thaksin.... Don't invite PTP or any Reds Shirts and we will let your sister leave the country.
So you are saying the junta are making deals with a known fugitive criminal? (insert many more descriptive nasty words here)
No.... I am saying they probably negotiated this to avoid 'the big get together'... Because put all those people in the same building out of the control of the Junta and plans are almost certainly going to be hatched.
