  1. Wife just had a call from that number, rang twice then stopped. I had the same number call me last week but I knew the +69 was a scam number. Really do wonder how they get our numbers as they are not given out to anyone except friends and family.
  2. Same for you and yours Mike, happy days ahead.
  3. Wife tells me it is the Thai equivalent of valentines day. I would suggest this is why they were shy about it.
  4. I have been told that I have a light blue aura and all animals seem to relax around me. Same as Walker88, I get birds and butterflies coming right up to and on me. The local skinks and geckos calmly wander around me.
  5. Yes, I have always been happy with the gov't medical system. First hospital I was taken to would not even take me out of the ambulance. Major city public hospital took me in and put me in ICU on a ventilator, stopped the bleeding and splinted both legs and left arm. They told my friends and wife that I would not be seen by a surgeon for two days. My friend knew the big boss at his big private hospital and pulled strings to have me transported in one of their special ambulances. Literally saved my life and legs.
  6. I got taken out by a pickup running a red light nearly 11 years ago. Spent a month in hospital and 5 major surgeries, her insurance paid about 30k. I found a good local lawyer who took it to the criminal court, I even had the police prosecutor on my side. Court ordered the maximum compensation of 550k, did not even cover the hospital bills. I wish you all the best with recovery, but take it slowly and get as much as you can from the insurance company.
  7. I first came here in 1999, had been divorced a year before and turned to solitude and drink. Only out time was working 12 to 14 hour days. My daughter could see me spiraling and talked me into going overseas and getting laid. Booked a week in Jomtien and a week in Chiangmai, got laid a lot. Went back to Aus and started saving for the jump, several holiday trips to Thailand each year to scratch the itch. On October 6 2006 I left Aus for good, lived in BKK, P'lok and Ubon where I met the wife. We went to Aus years ago so the oldies could meet my princess. They have both passed and have no intention of going back.
  8. Welcome old boy, enjoy the ride.
  9. RIP old boy, going out doing what he loved.
  10. Tilapia will eat new shoots, catfish will dig up the roots looking for snacks.
  11. Totally agree. I stumbled across his well stocked shop several years ago as I was looking for a shortcut around the never ending ring road constructions. He is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes he closes on other days to restock from the big smoke but he announces that on fakebook.
  12. Hong Thong is made from rice grain, same as the Lao Khao. It has molasses added for flavouring and colour.
  13. So sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family, he will be sorely missed by many many people. It is hard to believe that such a kind and helpful person can be taken like this.
  14. Not straight away but certainly within 5 minutes. It will come on as cooling is required.
  15. Probably the fan motor, it should start spinning within 5 minutes. You could change it yourself, a few screws and the elec leads going to the compressor compartment.
  16. Was on the Aussie news, hospital was actually in Austria carried out by an Austrian doctor- not Australia.
  17. Happy birthday Joe, everyone owes you a beer for your tireless input to the forum. ????‍♂️
  18. Might sound silly bit I had a similar problem. Calling AIS and Kbank and everyone said it was the other systems problem. At the point of really spitting the dummy, a young lady from kbank suggested trying the sim in a different phone. Did that, made another transaction, got the otp in seconds. She suggested it could be the phone and she was correct. Bought a new phone, even though the old one was only 3 years old, have not had the problem since.
  19. I have been right through the process, Had all the documents required per their list, submitted to two staff and the director of the adoption department. All was said to be in order and checked and double checked. Called them six months later for a progress report, was told to be patient as they were very busy, One year later we went in to see them in BKK, was told they needed a " letter of no objection" from the Australian embassy. Of course the embassy refused as I lived and worked in Thailand and was subject to Thai law not Aus for the adoption. They told me they were working on a solution. After four years and four months, I got a call from my case worker who said we needed to translate my passport and submit up to date home book and ID cards for wife and daughter. Did all that only to receive a phone call a couple of weeks later saying it would be easier to wait until she was twenty and do it at the local government office. Six months later did exactly that, took about two hours and 60 baht total.
  20. Had been riding big bikes all my life, continued that after I moved to Thailand. Got taken out by a pickup going through a red light, spent a while in ICU and several weeks in hospital. Still would like to ride but the boss refuses to let me ride anything other than the click locally,
  21. I can vouch for this from personal experience. I was told by immi that I had 24 hrs to leave the country and re enter. If it was the original visa, could stay until expiry, extension, must leave.
  22. Did mine there yesterday, amazing staff, so helpful and friendly. The lady that does them is very professional, if all your docs are correct it will be a breeze. I was all done in a bit over an hour.
  23. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Buying the gear, mixing, cleaning gear, wind/over-spray. Just buy acrylic outdoor paint and a couple of good rollers, be sure to clean and prime the surface.
  24. Just spent 2 days replacing all the door insect screens. Were not that bad, just little nicks and rips from dogs and kids. SWMBO has hinted that I do the windows as well as they are 10 years old too and a slightly different colour.
  25. Have had similar problems, go into the branch and ask them to reset the magnetic swipe on the bank book. They just swipe it through their scanner and it should work again.
