  1. Tourist entry at PNH airport requires prove of accommodation for FULL stay? With G7 passport, is booking required for the full period of stay? Can anyone offer recent experience (last 2-3 months)?
  2. A report in May 2023 indicate that, for flights to Phnom Penh, AirAsia in Da Nang required for boarding an onward ticket and booked accommodation for the full stay. Any more recent reports from any airport, especially in Thailand? I just wanted to post my recent experience flying to Phnom Penh from Da Nang, Vietnam on a one-way ticket. I previous chose to take the chance not to book a flight out of Cambodia as I had flown with Air Asia several times before to Phnom Penh as was never asked before. Upon check-in in Da Nang airport, the first question the Air Asia agent asked me was, "Can you please show me your ticket out of Cambodia with 30 days?". I did not have one. She told me that would not be allowed to board without POOT. So, I booked an inexpensive ticket ($50) right at Da Nang airport to Thailand departing in 4 weeks. Checking in again, I got a new agent. She also asked for my POOT, as I expected. Then she asked me to see my hotel reservations for the ENTIRE time I was going to be in Cambodia. I am staying at a small guesthouse in Phnom Penh, I made the booking via Telegram, so I had nothing to show her. But I gave her my phone and told her she can read the Telegram dialogue so she could see that I had a place to stay. She spent 5 minutes reading my phone, then called a supervisor. After they were satisfied that I had a reservation and enough funds to support myself (they asked my how much cash I had on me plus what credit/debit cards I had), they printed my boarding pass and accepted my bag. I asked the agent, "Why all of strict requirements now? I never had to show any of this before." She replied that in order to get a visa on arrival and to let me on the airplane, Cambodian immigration requires them to do this.
  3. Thank you for expanding on your assertion. Can you help me find some of the reports you mention? Do you have links?
  4. This is reasonable speculation. However, one can imagine that any extra entries are noticeable to an Immigration official anywhere, and probably signals some sort of trouble. C'mon overstayers! Give us your experience, please!
  5. Thank you. I am interested in entry to other countries.
  6. This is a reasonable idea from logical thinking. Does anyone have experiential evidence of such an occurrence?
  7. Has anyone encountered trouble entering countries within and outside of this region with whatever markings are put in the passport of an overstayer in Thailand? (The overstay is less than 90 days and will be handled at a Bangkok airport.) I'm thinking of short stay (tourist) visits. One's country of residence should be no problem. How about others? Can coming directly from an overstay in Thailand impede a tourist entry into another country? Thanks.
  8. Is the official onward fight ticket requirement currently enforced in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airports? I could possibly get an extension past the initial 30 day allowance and would like to not waste a ticket. I'll be coming from Bangkok, if that makes any difference. Can anyone contribute recent experience? Thanks.
  9. Can anyone offer suggestions for staying in Phnom Penh? I will be there for about 2 weeks on this first visit, arriving at the airport. A 55 year old man, I have visited Thailand numerous times on a restricted budget. Toilet and shower down the hall is fine with me. USD 15 per night is the top of my budget for lodgings. A/C nice but not absolutely necessary. To ensure reasonable quiet, it is a priority to be not too far from shops and markets but away from a busy street. Where can I find such a place in PP? What area of the city? Any specific recommendations for a guesthouse or hotel are welcome. Thanks for your contribution.
  10. On an overstay (of less than 90 days) of a Visa Waiver and extension, is there any problem flying domestically? To exit Thailand, I'd like to fly closer to a land border and cross by bus. Has anyone been through this recently?
  11. My recent experience is that 2 WU service points in Bangkok refused completing the transaction on the basis of having overstayed the permission to be in Thailand by a few days. Both staff had immediately shuffled through the passport looking for the current visa. The service point which is in an office environment has an official well presented notice on the counter that says the requirement to use WU includes "Passport + Thailand Visa OR National ID Card." When asked about the ID card, staff said it would be necessary to check with another level of management. I don't have one, so I didn't pursue the issue. Staff shared a workaround which I verified on WU website. The sender can change the name of the receiver easily at no cost by phone, online or app. "Get a friend to receive the transfer for you," was the advice. Good luck to other scofflaws!
  12. On an overstay (of less than 90 days) of a Visa Waiver, is there any problem using Western Union to receive money?
  13. Are prospects good for doing one more successful border bounce? With my record, I am concerned about potential complications. I will be leaving the region in May, so I don't need the 60 days that a visa gives, and I prefer doing a 1 day bounce rather than doing an overnight stay in Vientiane to go through the visa process. I understand that I am eligible for one more Visa Waiver land border entry in 2023. My recent history. All entries are on Tourist Waiver. --Mid September 2022 arrival by air from outside the region for 30 days, + 30 day extension & 7 day extension --Mid November Border bounce @ Nong Khai for 45 days, + 30 day extension & 7 day extension --Early February Border bounce @ Nong Khai for 45 days, + 30 day extension I had been coming to Thailand regularly for several years prior to a 3 year pause which included the Covid interlude. I have always used Tourist Waivers and occasional Tourist Visas. I have never had any trouble with Immigration at entry or extension. Question 1) Will it be a problem to do another border bounce at Nong Khai within the next 3 weeks? Question 2) Is the process at the Nong Khai border entry at the present time strict in enforcing accommodation reservations and onward air ticket requirements? Question 3) Would it be better to apply for a visa in Vientiane consulate? Question 4) Is the consulate visa process in Vientaine at the present time strict in enforcing accommodation reservations and onward air ticket requirements? Thanks for your input.
