  1. Thanks for all your input, I have now got all I need. Thanks again.
  2. Thank you all for your valuable input, very much appreciated.
  3. Good afternoon, I have a local Thai driving licence and need an international driving licence as I'm going to europe for a couple of weeks. Today I went to the nearest DLT office which is in Nangrong. The officer told my wife that they could not assist, neither could he suggest where to get help. May I kindly ask if anybody has a suggestion on how to obtain an international driving licence please? Thank you
  4. Never shown bankbook for 90 day report in Buriram before. Now I report online.
  5. I have a 12 months extension of stay on my NON IMM O visa, I returned to Thailand earlier this year on a re-entry permit. I did not file a TM30. I did one 90 day report online before I went to the Immigration to renew my extension of stay at Buriram Immigration. There were no ask about a TM30 and the renewal was done in 10 minutes. I have a yellow house book (living with my wife in her house), I don't know if that were taken into account. Maybe I was just lucky meeting a nice IMM officer.
  6. Earlier this year I received various cost estimates from private hospitals for my knee replacement in writing. They followed up by phone and email asking for a confirmation. I honestly do not know if that was legally required though. However, as all of them were very expensive, I went to a public hospital and got a verbal range-indication of the cost (half of the cost in a private hospital). I accepted verbally, nothing in writing. after surgery they presented an invoice lower than their cost-indication. I was lucky, I had the time to explore various alternatives, no urgency.
  7. My country has a double taxation treaty with Thailand. My pension is not taxed in my home country based on this treaty. I pay tax on my pension here in Thailand as I am a tax resident here according to Thai legislation (living here for more than 180 days a year). Of course I have to send proof of paid tax in Thailand to my home country in order to avoid double taxation. Its a bit extra paperwork, but it is worth it as the tax level here is more favorable than back home.
  8. The app on my android does not work, I have used my laptop for the last two years and it works well. I get a confirmation of received notification within the hour and the approval within 2 to 5 days. Normally 3 days as per their promise.
  9. I will stay here with my Thai wife as I have decided to spend my 'golden years' here. Since I already pay taxes and enjoy the double taxation treaty it will not trigger any need to move. The FX rates have not been very good the last few years, but the cost of living is still very favorable to me. However, there's a lot of stuff going on in this world these days, so who knows?
  10. I have had a visit from the police (not IMM) checking my yellow house-book and my pink ID.
  11. I took both licensees 3 years ago with a 46 and 48 score. I studied the Q and A beforehand, and as several people already mentioned, I focused on the answers they were looking for. Also I'm quite sure that one question had different answers in the two tests ???? At least we are offered an English version here. I had to take a Belgian license 10 years ago, and the text on the computer were in French and verbally called out in English. So I'm not complaints about the quality of the system here.
  12. My Thai neighbors were riding a motorcycle with a sidecar late one evening a few months back. They were hit by a drunk driver and both hit the tarmac quite hard (both without helmets). The wife spent a couple of days in the hospital whilst her husband were in a coma for 3 weeks. After almost a month at home without being able to work, he is now back at work and on his motorcycle without a helmet. I offered him a helmet, but he said helmets are so heavy, so he stick to his baseball cap.
  13. There seems to be different experiences in different areas of Thailand. I must be one of the lucky ones, I do my extensions in Buriram and I have only good experiences. Not more than 30 minutes ever spent in the immigration office. Also, never booked an appointment, just drop-in.
  14. Try to download the DLT app and register your details there.
  15. You can also download the "DLT SMART QUEUE" on your phone and register and follow the instructions.
  16. I use Buriram main IO and they insists on blue ink.
  17. I was at Vejthani hospital, but I will check out BPH as well.
  18. I was quoted THB 790,000.00 for a revised knee replacement surgery in a BKK private hospital. Twice the price of a hospital in India I do not believe that Thailand is a very competitive destination for medical tourism.
  19. Last week I had a visit from the local police here in Chamni in Buriram. They took photos of my wife and I together, and my yellow book and pink ID. They said that they are going to do this on a monthly basis.???? They did not even look at my passport. Lets see what the future holds.
  20. My card is lifelong = ตลอดชีวิต as information where others have an expiration date. My card is from Chamni in Buriram.
