You are comparing apples with pears.France is a 1st world country,Thailand is 3rd world country.I don't think french come to Thai because they want to work here,Thais would love to go to any western country if they could, and work there. Also Thais 90% love to overstay their visa or misuse their visa[ask the Japanese and Koreans. If the immigration wouldn't be so lazy or stupid, they would separate between 1st world countries,2nd... 3rd.... and...............,actually they doing that already, most westerners get a 30 VOA,some 15days and some need a visa from their embassy, but when it comes to multiple entries they put all non Thais in one bucket. They can not or don't want to understand some westerners have money and time to travel around,so they asking stupid questions like'are you working here?'I think 99% of westerners what come here on a VOA are genuine tourists, and like the OP  said'why I should get a visa if I stay only a few days"Why Thai immigration must treat airport arrivals different from land border arrivals? Why Thai immigration treats a westerner the same way as a guy from Cambodia or Myanmar? It is obviously that  Cambodians not travel to Thailand for a beach vacation.

If they don't want non Thais travel around including neighboring countries, then they should say so clearly on their immigration or embassy website.,but that will never ever happen Thais are happy with their shi. mentality[nothing is sure] and if westerners don't like it they should stay home, since the Chinese and Indians are coming they no need westerners anymore

I still haven’t met any thais so far that  enjoyed to live in a western country, now most I have met who have stayed in a western country for years didn’t really like it, usually only low class thais that stays there for one reason and that’s because of their sugar daddy can’t afford to live in thailand so they stay in their come country because they have to work.

and by the way I wouldn’t call France 1st world country more like a shithole country.

if Thailand is a 3rd world country what is India,Pakistan, Bangladesh etc etc, a 5th world country ?

it’s wrong to call a country that have never been a third world country a third world country, a country is either a developing country or a developed country.

most of Western Europe and Northern Europe is finish the are literally destructive country, and soon will be a developing shit hole.

Savannakhet is more strict, you need to show onward ticket within 60 days and Bank Statement for Tourist Visa, in case of Non Immigrant visa you have to address your documents to Royal Thai Consulate Savannakhet.

I was in savannakhet in January and the only thing they asked me for was 20,000 baht in the bank, but yes they usually ask for onward ticket.

Please read my post above. It IS a number for the window on the day you hand in your application if the staff at the front desk tell you so. Some people don't get told to go wait at the window, which is why the OP is confused. I don't know why they do this, but they did it when I was there a few months ago (which was the first time I experienced it).

Spot on, that’s what happened to me.

It's not a queue number. It's a number given you that matches a number they put on your passport to coordinate the two.

First time I went to Vientiane was 2013 and it was drop off one day pick up the next afternoon. Then it's first come first served. Been that way for ages. Can't understand why you are so confused.

I’m confused because everyone else have to wait except me, that’s why I find this so strange, I didn’t have to wait to 148 as my queue number says.

I could go straight back to my hotel the assistant said to me.

Everyone gets a queue number, and when their number is up they will go here where it says visa application

I didn’t need to do that. They told me come back tomorrow

My two previous times I had to wait like everyone else, this time was different, The assistants who hands out the queue number and checking through the paperwork and make sure you have everything done, they told me come back tomorrow, not the people in the visa application picture above.

What do you you mean you didn't have to wait? Wait for what? Yes they are telling you to come back tomorrow because that's how the system works, apply one day pick up the next

Everyone gets a queue number, and when their number is up they will go here where it says visa application

I didn’t need to do that. They told me come back tomorrow and pick up your passport after 13:30

I'm not sure of the problem? You apply one day and pick up tomorrow, the ticket they have given you is your queue number for tomorrow, if you go late there will be no one there and you can just walk up to the counter and get your PP

    What's the problem?

There is no problem, it was way easier and faster this time,But the procedure was different now then It was, when I where  there In 2013&2017.

  8. They gave me a queue number, but I didn’t need to wait, told me come back tomorrow,. the two persons that sit on the table and checks that all the paperwork is done right told me that.

i expected to sit there 1 hour waiting for my number to be called up,but no don’t need to do that, come back tomorrow, they told me 3 times.

talked about with two other persons, that was in the queue, they told me the same, and I asked them why don’t I need to wait like everyone else? Their reply was, no you don’t need to, you are lucky, but I don’t know why.

  9. so I arrive at the Thai Consulate in Vientiane, they check that I have all the paper, pictures, copies etc, so they tell me I can come back tomorrow to pick up my passport with a tourist visa.

process the two other times i have been to the consulate in vientiane (2013 and 2017) that was different, back then I have to sit and wait like everyone else until they call up my number, so what have changed ?

this is what I got with me.

If you want to get another visa exempt entry, do it by land. You have enough previous visa exempt entries, especially bearing in mind your age, that some immigration officials at the airport could deny you entry. It is unlikely if you enter by land (which you can do just twice per calendar year). If you might actually stay quite a bit longer, stop using visa exempt entries and get tourist visas instead.

A good place for a tourist visa is Vientiane Laos. Easy and cheap way to get there is by flying to Udon Thani in Thailand, and a short overland trip from there to the Friendship Bridge at Nong Khai and across to Vientiane. You apply for the visa in the morning of one day, and get the passport back in the afternoon of the following day. Thus, it is possible to leave Bangkok early in the morning and return by the evening of the next day with only one night in Vientiane. If you have not been in Vientiane before, it probably makes sense to spend a bit more time there, and avoid the rush.

Thank you, for your suggestion, I think that’s what I will doing ?

  11. I’m 25 years old Norwegian citizens and staying in Thailand long term isn’t that easy when there are non options/ or if there is to stay here long term, please let me know.

i have been in Thailand since 27th June 2017 where I arrived by air, got 30 days on arrival, then I went to chaeng wattana and extended it and got another 30 days, then I went to Malaysia for few days then I came back to Thailand and did the same thing.

    next was Vietnam,Cambodia and Cambodia.

total 5 visa extemptions and have extended all of them, my plan is to stay here until middle of may before I will return back to my home country.

Now my visa extemptions extension is finish 25 April.

so what is my options? Get a tourist visa? If so where ? Or take another trip to Cambodia or another neighboring country staying there for a few days, like I have done already 5 times already?

any suggestions will be appreciated, thank you to all that have advice for me. ?

  12. Deary me, somepeople would be prepared to miss a flight to Thailand for the sake of a thousand baht.

When you try and check in for the 2nd time it will show that a few minutes previous you tried to check in without an onward flight. Do you think they will say nothing ?

Get the onward flight and dont risk it.

yep i have got onward ticket to ho chi min city, Vietnam, 1390bath nok air :)
