  1. Hi all,

I have a new Non Immigrant O visa and went to the immigration (Cheang Wattana) to get an extension of stay (1 year). The lady told me I have to be in the country for at least 45 days and after that can get the 1 year extension based on sufficient funds in the bank account. I have never heard of this 'rule'

    Is this an official requirement?

    :-(

J.P. Morgan's Kasman: Dollar Isn't Weak Enough, Fed on Hold until 2013

    http://blogs.wsj.com...=WSJ_EC_RT_Blog

    Snip:

He added that while the outlook for the U.S. economy has darkened a bit of late, underlying growth remains on a decent 3% trend and the labor market should start generating 175,000 to 200,000 jobs per month this year.

175,000 to 200,000 jobs assuming full time? In exactly what bizniz?

Aaaaaaaaand: that resistance of other central banks to run tighter monetary policy is interfering with the U.S. dollar’s ability to weaken.

    :cheesy:

    Anyway it's just his opinion.

  4. Believe it or not I have somewhere on one of my HD a report about voice recognition SW that was/is able to translate spoken Thai into English including many of the dialects. This program is only available for government and was tested more then ten years ago if I remember well.

Another thing I have a few years ago was a device from a German company the size of a walkman that was able to translate from spoken Thai to English and vice versa and when making a picture of a sign in written Thai to translate it.

Most if not all of phone calls made the conversations are recorded and analyzed on key words, phrases and certain patterns.

The Original Poster is obviously an Investor Newbie who asks for advice. Confusing him with all kind of *professional* advice will not help HIM because he will not understand and Thailand will not offer the means to carry out this advice. The same applies to *BUY GOLD!* which i consider reckless. He should be told ***DO NOT (REPEAT N O T) JEOPARDIZE THE 800K YOU NEED FOR YOUR RETIREE VISA!***

  7. Buy Gold and Silver. :)

I don't think that immigration will approve that for purposes of a retirement visa, even if the advice is possibly good as an long term investment, and would certainly go a long way to appeasing the demands of a Thai GF.....

It's not about immigration, you have a pile of money and you invest it for nine months in buying some Gold.

After that, you sell and transfer back your profits into the account. Showing an active account.

    :)

and should there be no profit Alex will compensate you for your losses

for the record: gold march 2008 >$1,000/ounce, six month later $780/ounce :whistling:

    Naam how childish,

    Ask your wife.....

  9. Dear Naam,

As car sales have increased substantionally, more crashes will happen and as a result of more cars on the road and drivers thinking switching lanes every 30 seconds, and getting as close as possible to the car in front will get them faster to their end destination.

Wherever that is depending on interpretation of "End Destination"

The crashes might be less severe due to increased density of vehicles and therefore lower average speed but increased fuel usage combined with an ever increasing price of fuel will set the price of transportation of goods through the roof and as a result foods and stuff will be less affordable for those on lower wages which are the majority of Thai consumers. As a result people will revolt and perhaps burn down a few more shopping malls and as a result the price of insuring property will rise. This will be charged back to consumers on popular items purchased like Som Tam, fried rice and noodles. Plenty of connections can be made but for sure it's safe to say we are toast in the longer term that is......
