  1. I'd very strongly advise you to consult an agent, Yes, I know they're a bit expensive but if you can afford to keep 800km tied up in a bank account this probably won't be too much of a problem for you. i use a very well known agency in CM (I believe TV rules prohibit me from telling you their name but you should be able to work it out without too much trouble) and they recently arranged a relatively complex Retirement Extension based on income for me with minimal fuss, If the IO is misinterpreting the rules, as appears to be the case here, It's best if the agent explains it to the IO rather than you (less loss of face).

    Good luck.

  2. Yes, I always wear socks with sandals and for once, I agree with the fashion Nazis - it looks absolutely ridiculous!

It is, however, very practical. The sandals keep the feet relatively cool and the socks keep them clean. Like Costas, I have a bit of an obsession about clean feet and always wear socks around the house so I guess the sandals thing is just an extension of that.

No binding necessary. The key word in the instructions issued by the Embassy in Canberra (see link below) is "OR" - "The documents must be bound and notarized by a Notary Public person OR witnessed/certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP)"

If you choose the JP option (and you'd be crazy not to considering the cost of a Notary Public's services - mine charged me $360 and told me he was giving me a discount!) the binding and notarising bit becomes irrelevant. It's something only Notary Publics do, not JPs

    Hope this helps,

    Graham

  5. In England you cannot get the Thai language, on your Galaxy, Mrs went and bought an apple i phone so she could get her native language on it. Maybe where you buy your phone in the world makes a difference what language is on it.

Bizarrely, my Galaxy S5 (purchased in Australia) allows me to select a Thai keyboard, while not offering Thai as one of the operating languages.
