Dined at a restaurant on Wednesday night - only 2 other diners but a constant stream of customers collecting takeaways. Perhaps they're rich enough to have (re)discovered the delights of drinking wine with a meal.

There could possibly be a story in this, if any journalist could be bothered to investigate it.

Also short on expertise, experience and influence!

I'd very strongly advise you to consult an agent, Yes, I know they're a bit expensive but if you can afford to keep 800km tied up in a bank account this probably won't be too much of a problem for you. i use a very well known agency in CM (I believe TV rules prohibit me from telling you their name but you should be able to work it out without too much trouble) and they recently arranged a relatively complex Retirement Extension based on income for me with minimal fuss, If the IO is misinterpreting the rules, as appears to be the case here, It's best if the agent explains it to the IO rather than you (less loss of face).
Good luck.

Do they mention a price for this service?
You're asking for a friend, of course!

Oh dear. I really don't think you're going to enjoy living here at all. You might like to consider other options.

No measurable impact on tourism in the first 24 hours after the event? Well I guess everything must be OK then.

Confused much?
The basic rule that applies to this forum is that if anyone ever says anything that conflicts with ubonjoe's advice, you just ignore it.
Some of the others think they're being helpful but they frequently fail (sometimes quite spectacularly).

Yes, I always wear socks with sandals and for once, I agree with the fashion Nazis - it looks absolutely ridiculous!
It is, however, very practical. The sandals keep the feet relatively cool and the socks keep them clean. Like Costas, I have a bit of an obsession about clean feet and always wear socks around the house so I guess the sandals thing is just an extension of that.

Something's obviously been lost in the translation here. My local 7-11 is 'on a road'. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be able to drive there to buy my groceries!

Nothing to do with national culture - give guns to a large number of men and eventually two of them will have an argument.

I was fined for a one day overstay when departing from Samui, but that was 3 years ago.
These things change. Frequently. And then change back again.

If you had a partner, you'd know that not only can two not live as cheaply as one, they can't even live as cheaply as five!

Looks like Canarysun has some real competition in being The Cheapest of The Charlie's.
It must be a fun life......NOT.
People who come to Thailand because they're too cheap to live anywhere else worry me - but nowhere near as much as they worry the Thai!

"Honey, you can trust me; I am Thai."
I laughed so hard I cried...
The one that always cracks me up is "Up to you"
Yeah, right!

No binding necessary. The key word in the instructions issued by the Embassy in Canberra (see link below) is "OR" - "The documents must be bound and notarized by a Notary Public person OR witnessed/certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP)"
If you choose the JP option (and you'd be crazy not to considering the cost of a Notary Public's services - mine charged me $360 and told me he was giving me a discount!) the binding and notarising bit becomes irrelevant. It's something only Notary Publics do, not JPs
Hope this helps,
Graham

I had my OA visa issued in Canberra last month after having the documents bound and notarised at considerable expense. When I collected the visa (I lived in Canberra), the issuing officer advised me that I should have saved myself the cost and just had them certified by a JP. Too late for me - hope it helps you.

In England you cannot get the Thai language, on your Galaxy, Mrs went and bought an apple i phone so she could get her native language on it. Maybe where you buy your phone in the world makes a difference what language is on it.
Bizarrely, my Galaxy S5 (purchased in Australia) allows me to select a Thai keyboard, while not offering Thai as one of the operating languages.
