the government sold of our gas to overseas for next to nothing, that is why electricity is going up.

They also introduced a service fee of roughly one dollar a day.
While I have been in Thailand and Myanmar I have left the house empty. It generates 150 bucks worth of power (90 days billing period) and they slug me 100 bucks service fee for the privilege (remember I'm still on the 44 cents feed in tariff) so I'm effectively earning 50 bucks every three months. I have only left one fridge running while away.
It's going to take a lot longer than 5 years to pay back the capital costs of the installation.
If I was on the 9 cents tariff I would be paying THEM for the privilege of them using my electricity.
Do your sums carefully and don't forget about future costs of ownership.
My system is only small 1.5 KW. I've had it over 10 years now so I expect the inverter to be close to end of life.....that'll cost a grand or 2 to replace.
you have a very low KW , not Worth it 1.5 KW

Not saying electricity is not expensive , it can be like thailand, but at less in Australia you can go solar power and it is free electricity , it takes 5 years to get your money back from the solar panels and then you get your electricity for free .

Australia has a great education system . The op has no idea how great it is , the schools in Australia.
I know first hand how great it is , my daughter who has a leaning problem gets great help from the school and government funding to pay for her aid.
You would no hop of getting that help in thailand , and 40 % of thai kids can't read and write, I feel so sorry for them .
And if you like me trying to lean to read and write thai , you would understand how hard it is , my thai partner tells me it is very hard trying to lean thai reading and writing thai .

Driving in thailand is like paying Russian roulette with a loaded gun .
Not much you can do about it , like most comments here do not get in Voled in Road rage .
It all go's back to training drivers and the thai government dose not care about thai people, if they did they would fix up thai driver.

I just up dating for people interested in taken they thai partner to Australia.
It took just on 8 months from the day of lodgment to the day we received the partner visa to Australia.
We were both very happy to have the visa approved , lots of paper work and some headaches but it is well worth it , if anyone is looking to do one .
My partner is very happy living in Australia now , she gets free medicare card and she gets schooling witch is part of the visa cost ( of the $6,800 cost of her visa, $2,500 go's to her English lesson in Australia , she gets 510 hours to do in 5 years ) .
She can get more schooling after she gets her full time visa.( as she is on a temporary visa for 2 years) .
Witch I think is so good that the Australia government want new migrants to lean English.
Plus she can work make her own money, buy home if need be and live free of the stupid immigration laws which apply to us foreigners in Thailand .
She now can help her family out in thailand with sending money home and after time hop she can buy her self a home in thailand.
Before some of you all start having a go at me , I did take her to and from Australia in 2 years to make sure she would be happy living in Australia and yes she did live in the cold months in Melbourne.
We will now travel home to thailand when we feel like it , to see family and friends.
I do like thailand and thai people but thailand is not for me to live full time , but I can understand why lots of foreigners live in thailand full time .
So if anyone It thinking of doing it go for it , but do it your self not pay some agent stupid money to do it for you .

Ok , I did google it , no hard evidence that it is run by the so called mafia , but if it is then I not care ok , I will take the chance and give , if I feel fit to some of them .

In my country it is illegal to beg , but then I live in a first world country not 3 rd world like thailand.
I would hop that the thai government try and clean it up , but then again the government not care about thai people just look at how many get killed on the roads ever year.

Not sure thailand is special , but it has great people, lots of Beautiful women,
great cheap food , hotels are very cheap , great places for a holiday 2 or 3 times a year.
But to live full time there , it would take away all the good things about the place.
has lots and lots of bad things but that is thailand , for thai people to worry about not me .
I just enjoy going on holidays with the thai
