  1. Hi all, I'm heading up to Laos Monday to get my visa, my question is... Do I need a visa prior to entering Laos? If so where an I get one, I'll be flying into udon Thani & crossing the border from there, what is the best/cheapest way of doing this, I'm only planning on being in Laos for 2-3 days. Any advise much appreciated.

  2. Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there can advise on my situation,

I'm currently on a non b visa as I'm doing an internship (which will be ending soon), the non b visa runs out 28th feb & I need to re enter thailand to set up a work permit etc, I'm in no real rush to set it up so my thinking is to get a double entry tv from either Laos or savannakhet which I can extend to 90 days, however between the 2 entries I want to go back home (uk) to see family etc, so if I re enter on the 1st tv from Laos/savannakhet & extend for 90 days that will take me approx thru till end of may, then I want to go home & re enter on the 2nd tv, is this possible? & how long could I stay at home for before the 2nd tv expires? Also do I need to show flight exit tickets when applying for a tv?

    Any advise much appreciated.

  3. Hello all, recently resided to Phuket & being a keen fisherman I will be looking to get involved with fishing out here. I'm not interested in tour company places, just wanna grab my own fishing stuff & head out for some peacefull fishing. I prefer lake/river fishing but don't mind a bit of sea fishing also. Anyone know of any decent places to go & do you need a licence to fish here like back at home?

Also can anyone recommend any decent tackle shops? I live in kathu.

    Cheers & happy fishing!!

  4. Thanks for info, my intentions are to do an idc internship leading into work, which will then be ok for work permit, problem is I can't get to a working stage in 90 days due to my current diving level, so what would you say is my best option to stay out there continuously for the 6 months I'll need to be able to get to instructor level & be able to work? Bearing in mind I already have a 3 month visa & want to do this from being in thailand? Many thanks

  5. Hi all, just got my visa & was granted a B type as I'm undertaking a scuba diving internship. They only gave me a single entry even tho I applied for multiple, (but hey ho) I assume this will be ok to extend when I'm out there? Also I'm wondering about bank accounts, can I open a thai account on a B visa & also what is the best way of transferring money from uk into the thai account? As I want to avoid charges from uk for withdrawals etc etc

  6. Hi all, newbie here, I've been browsing through TV for a while now & as I'm off to Phuket soon, initially with a 1 year visa to undertake a diving internship I am just after some general info/advise about living in Phuket. I am going to be renting somewhere (probably kathu area as its pretty centrally located) so any advise/recommendations/must do's/must dont's about renting would be great, I'm looking at just looking around for rent signs on houses & making enquiries direct with owners to try & negotiate a reasonable deal, what I want to know is the legalities/contracts etc etc that should be in place for renting like this.?? I will be with my thai gf & have thai friends on the ground there so no probs with language barriers with landlords. Also I am a very keen golfer here in the uk & I'm involved with a local club & play competitions etc, I would love to carry on my golfing out in thailand in a similar way, I'm aware golf can be quite costly in Phuket so does anyone who is involved with golf out there got any advise on a good club to join that is reasonable & good value for money & holds club comps etc? Also are there such things as syndicates amongst expats in Phuket similar to a syndicate in the uk? It would be great to get involved with a syndicate with expats in Phuket.?? There's prob a million more things I want to know but will leave it at this for now. All advise much appreciated.
