Painful lessons must be learned if we have another recession since 1998.

Generals are bad at governing. Keep them out permanently.

Yellow shirts to be blamed for their stupidity to back the coups twice.

The junta constitution is highly skewed and have to be changed back to the 1997 people's charter.

Factories can't rely on cheap labors and must automate and mechanise to reduce workers

More efforts must be make to improve domestic tourism with better infrastructures etc

Mass foreign tourism need reviewed for smaller quality tourism

    Film at eleven.

  2. even the Thais get scammed if they had your money they would be further scammed.... one needs only to look at how they scam poor thais in these difficult times by illegally charging 2 or 3 times the current govt electric rate per kw and what does the govt do they allow it and then say the people are getting a break with a 20 percent reduction in electric bill or similar... a 20 percent reduction from a triple inflated bill for many poor thais... what a country

Perhaps some of that same "passion for the law"  can be devoted to arresting, convicting and imprisoning some of Prayuth's men on the border, who are taking a bit of tea money, to let infected Burmese enter the nation? How about arresting a human trafficker, or a human sex slave trader once in a while? What about the owners of the factories, that allow the operation of a place with 3,000 infected workers? Isn't that somehow more important than busting a few foreigners having a beer?

yeah but this fits their narrative quite well of nasty foreigners (non Chinese) bringing in the virus...

Masks aren't as effective as the OP thinks, especially with Delta. It's not a matter of IF you're going to get infected, but more like WHEN.

Do I think Thai immigration will mandate vaccines for expats?

    I don't know.

But I think that when the vaccines become as easily accessed as in the U.S., perhaps they should!

so what happened to transfering the virus from surfaces etc.?   you could wear five masks and just have to touch a 20 baht bill from a shop or elsewhere and get the virus?  or have they now reversed this? then why the alcohol? ... seems the story keeps changing...

Glad you didn't say something like: "I might have filled you up..." . As there was some laxity on Soi 6, regarding the use of condoms.

Or "you certainly are good with a hose where did you work before?"

In all seriousness she is probably not thrilled with the idea.  In a western country she could be sitting on her ass receiving free money.  Not so in Thailand where people struggle to survive.

I think Casinos are a certainty, new condos and Malls are still being built, investments of billions of baht, they are not doing this for nothing, they are not doing this in the hope that sex tourists from the likes of the UK come here to get drunk for 2 weeks in Soi 6.

I believe that people who are investing Billions of Baht probably have some insider knowledge of the future plans for a new Pattaya, and those plans won't be factoring in the old demographic.

or the bank loans have been previously approved and this is just the result of commitments made years ago... how many new ones?

Nothing wrong with dreaming. Starting salary for masters degree qualified is around 20k. I have a couple of staff in that category. My masters degree staff with 10years experience are getting between 55 to 65k as junior managers. 80k would be for managers and above with over 10yrs experience. This is for Thai educated people. If you plan to study here without a degree you have 0 chance of making 80k in a Thai company ever. I wouldn’t hire someone who thought about money more so than the job.

    you are underpaying your employees...

Sadly, it is only the tip of the iceberg, worse things are yet to come until most people will be vaccinated, which will be a mammoth job to implement in the coming months...

not if they wake up and reopen the country it seems rather evident that these lockdowns are not very effective vaccinations can continue with an open economy it is this attitude of lockdown and vaccinate that is killing the country

Incoming vaccinated tourists almost certainly are very little risk to the local population. But, in order to attract those visitors it’s necessary for the local environment to be more open. People need to mix more to provide the services that tourists would like to enjoy whilst on holiday. That means higher Covid risk among the local population, not because of the tourists themselves, but because of the behavior that they engender.

it’s only a risk of course. And sometimes risk is worth taking. To that end, already thousands of doses of vaccines have been sent to Phuket to vaccinate healthy young people. So in that example, the risk lies primarily with the elderly living elsewhere who did not get vaccinated. Several hundred thousand people.

cases in Phuket have been rising week on week for the last three weeks. Not because of the tourists, but because of the local environment.

yes if these vaccines work like they say they do why are people even being tested if vaccinated?

  10. So let me get this the poster has not lived in Canada for three decades much less America yet he forms a strong opinion about what is right about Canadians and what is wrong about Americans.  I have lived decades in both countries as well as Thailand and I can tell you when you strip down the msm hype and and observe the people as they are there is little difference between Americans and Canadians.
