  1. now i am waiting patiently for the next poster who claims he "runs three aircons (not simultaneously) 12 hours a day" and gets a refund from the electricity provider.

    cheesy.gif

12 hours a day 28c on Air Con mode,

    Believe what you will.

Someone is obviously ripping u off.

right you are! that "somebody" is my demand to live in a 24 hours a day fully airconditioned home.

You should go outside from time to time Naam, because you don't look too healthy in your avatar.

  2. Nice thread. Hilton is not the best location for such a story. In any case, why assume that the male is taking care of the woman and not the woman taking care of her toy boy? I am a hansum man. Many people would have to pay for my company. I am still waiting for the offers though.

Anyway, hanging about Sukie isn't a picture of Thailand. It's a tourist zone and the only Thais one comes across are those who work in the zone. Why not take a quick hop up to Roi Et or down to Pattani, or over to Rayong, or many other places and then come back with your impressions.

So all Thai women staying at the Hilton on Sukhumvit are hookers, because it's obvious what you mean with the " Zone"?

  3. Get out of the city.

I buy my honey from the local farmers.

    Cheap.

    No problems.

Again and again....you are missing the point !

The point for him is that double pricing is the foreigners fault because they don't act Thai enough - that if one "respects the local culture," that people will reward that with equitable treatment. It's a delusion I used to have as well.

In fact, nobody cares if you wai really well or know all the right forms of address for different social station or volunteer at the temple to sweep up leaves. There's no scorecard to fill up, and once you fill it, you're just like a Thai.

In the Kingdom, you'll always be judged on your race.

My point is that if you choose to live in the westernized parts of Thailand, like Bangkok, Pattaya and the like, you are easy prey for people who make a living taking advantage of foreigners who do not understand the language, culture and value of things.

Avoid these areas and you will find yourself being treated like everyone else.

In some cases, in the north, foreigners are treated better than your average Thai.

Yes., I and others I know are actually given discounts in small markets that Thai people don't get.

For instance, I noticed that at my local store, I was being charged 3 baht less for a quart of beer than Thai people were and I asked why.

I was told " Thai guy comes and buy one beer every couple of weeks. You come here and buy two beer every day. I want you to come here every day and not go to other store."

Three baht is not a lot, but being treated as a prefered customer, keeps me coming back.

I don't think it is I missing the point benalibina

in the north, foreigners are treated better than your average Thai.

Seems you insist on being stubborn, because the picture was taken in Chiangmai, and last time I checked that is about as North as it can get.

  4. All that hassle to reclaim a Big C card back.

    I think that's how I read it.

In over 7 years here I've actually never enjoyed what ludicrous benefits it offers.

What does it actually do ?

I would have been straight of home and got the GF to get a new one sorted next time you went in there.

As for her son typical Thai step son syndrome.

The only benefit of having a Big C card that I can work out is the money off vouchers that are printed (sometimes) at the bottom of the receipt. So you need to check and keep your receipts, and use the vouchers on your next visit.

They only seem to be small amounts, say 10 or 20 baht.

The only benefit from a Big C card that I can work out is that they have your phone number which they can sell to those cold calling companies or ad list companies, so you can receive spam messages and calls.'

Not sure though if that is a benefit, that's also why I don't have a big c vard, and never will have although I shop there on a daily base.

  5. Very happy it worked out well for you -- so far -- now keep a sharp eye on your bank account for transactions that you don't recognise. There's a very good reason for *not* giving your bank details to strangers -- ask around the "Nigerian Prince" et al if you don't know about this.

for the record ,i remmoved the money and the account is now empty (just in case for the sake of paranoia )

but i have faith in what kasikorn said that it cannot be reveresed without my permission no matter who wants it

the canadians should have stopped it leaving their system if it was fraudulant ,but all the documents were in order

including his passport ,the transfer statements and account numbers and names all matched up ...etc and he gave me his branch phone number to confirm

if i still want more confirmation.............

i will watch the accoutn over the next month or two but i think its a done deal at this stage and neither party can back out now

(would havwe been very interesting if i decided to keep the laptop and his money lol but i guess hes lucky im as honest as he is ) smile.png

OP with all that info you got from the buyer Jpinx could easily empty the guys bank account. Drop him a PM and share the proceeds.

  6. In germany they say: Bei uns ist alles besser. Aber mit mir ist es alles anders @naam.

One poster lived for a week with a genset in an apartment. Lets say it is 2 weeks. Can your ups handle your stinky stinky water supply or do you have to be a stinky cause you then cant even shower anymore.....

if power is off for two weeks these three generators would charge my batterie banks without any problems and i'd be waiting most probably in Singapore till somebody phones and tells me "power is back!" thumbsup.gif

Wow, you must be really, really rich. Your last name isn't Trump by any chance?

  7. "Reverse Osmosis" is nothing more than a posh name for a filter and UV system which will clean and/or kill all unwanted substances in your water.

You mean it's got nothing to do with reverse pressurising an osmotic membrane?

Unless there is a bit of poetic license floating about I would say No. There are three filter elements in mine and they all have different grades of filtering material two of them rattle and the third is some sort of compressed paper element through which passes the water. Let us know if I'm missing something.

reverse osmosis decontaminates water but removes also all minerals. the result is "hungry" (corrosive) water. anybody who owns an aircon can test this claim by dropping a piece of cement plaster in a glass filled with a/c condenswater.

the World Health Organisation considers removal of all minerals unhealthy which matrches the information i got many rainy seasons ago.

personally i don't care. i am a German. Germans use water to have a shower, brush their teeth, do their laundry and extinguish fires. but we don't drink it! laugh.png

But you just said that you use the drinking water produced by Nestle, Singha or Chang. These brands, except MAYBE Nestle but I've never seen it in Thailand anyway, don't produce mineral water, so guess what you're drinking.

  8. and no, i cannot just construct an ugly 30m high water tower with voluminous tanks that can serve 5 people for three days because i live in a gated community where certain restrictions apply.

I think this house from my brother in jkt needs perhaps more water than you @naam. Not 30m high but enough to get a good flow/pressure.

But @naam=@naam and his way is always the best..........

why do you have to post irrelevant rubbish which hampers an interesting technical discussion covering many aspects?

are you to judge whether the water pressure or the flow your brother uses would satisfy my demands? is anyone interested that in his house "perhaps" more water is used than in other houses?

be a good boy now, watch youtube clips, enjoy your wet 12V offgrid dreams and stop bothering adults with your (most of the time) various utmost ridiculous advice!

I wonder who started this thread............wait it is George Harmony.

Was that a nerve I heard severing?

  9. Sounds as if the purpose of super capacitors goes way over your head, same as the purpose of a 50 Baht check valve went over your head for years.

quite right you are because the 50 Baht check valve is mounted approximately 8 meters above my head. not since years (plural) but only one year (singular).

no super capacitors anywhere over my head as rice is cooked in our kitchen the conventional way which is (i believe but i'm not sure) a ricecooker.

is there any other (not so) intelligent technical input or judgment that we can inspect from you? don't hesitate, we are all friends here. büllshit amuses us.

How about that super capacitor making it possible to use that conventional rice cooker to be powered by solar energy?

Be careful not to put your head too deep in the sand with your next reply.

  10. @naam, i like tasty food like indonesian dishes and not so much "kaas". Such dishes is usually in combination with cooked rice. Since you detest solar power, its perhaps beyond your immagination that you can cook electric with only a 50wp panel using also super capacitors.

    Enjoy the this vid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7F-F8tnUSsM

    Ge@rge,

-i don't care too much about Indonesian dishes. for my taste they are not spicy enough and they contain too much rice and not enough protein.

-i do not detest solar power but i am a poor man who can't even afford a photovoltaic system that can supply power or starting amps to 10% of the electric gadgets in my home and garden.

-once i win the lotterie jackpot making me as rich as you are, i might consider changing to PV from grid.

-my imagination is huge but i'm not interested how rice is cooked with super capacitors. asking our cook what she thinks about cooking rice with super capacitors her answer was "i never heard of this Farang dish but i can check on youtube where i found quite some recipes for food you like."

-when i asked my wife about capacitor cooking she answered with the question "it's only 16.40hrs and you went after the portwine bottle!?"

Sounds as if the purpose of super capacitors goes way over your head, same as the purpose of a 50 Baht check valve went over your head for years.

  11. How can it be accurate? Is the data saying that Thai household debt doesn't really exist?

"Thai households have an average debt of 248,004 baht each this year which represents an increase of 13.16 percent of last years average of a 219,158 baht which is the highest in ten years, according to a poll result of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce."

    http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/126220

Are you aware of any country in the world where household debt isn't on the rise ?

The purpose of data is to figure out how the debt compares to the income.

  12. same thing, same airline happened to my friend last month and he had a member of immigration from where he lives in thailand with him (came in the taxi with him to the airport for a fee of course)

he booked a flight to Singapore instead and got a thai visa there

So an immigration officer traveled to the airport with a person which he knew was illegal in the country?

  13. Once again the ugly head of religion rears its smug face to tell you what's right and wrong!
Yes, the world would be so much better with more bars and fewer temples.

The world would be so much better if people stopped believing in fantasy, never seen a bar tell a temple to shutdown for its belief

People believe in all manner of fantasy.

So you think temples are telling bars to close down?

Indirectly, yes. The temples tell it to the government and the government tells it to the bars.

So it could be the people telling the temples, in which case it's what the people want, yes?

I don't think that the people tell the temples because the majority of Thai people is alcoholic.

While I think it fair to say the Thais you come in contact hanging around in crappy bars likely are, that simply has not been my experience.

Most probably because you don't spend much time in Thailand smile.png

  15. I actually just asked my wife if she had seen any of the owners of the two bars as one of the bars also run a restaurant on the other end of town. She said she had and had asked about their bar being closed on the night in question. As I had thought it was because of the ruling about proximity to the temple and a school about 300 meters away. So there we have it, the ruling is now being enforced. Bravo to another plan to bring happiness to the people.

Well I just asked my wife and she said they went broke.

The names of the bars nor the restaurant has been mentioned yet, but your wife knows which bars the OP is talking about and that they went broke.coffee1.gif

Why you not go trolling elsewhere.

  17. Thanks Steve,

So an Add-on is a collection of specific content, a build is a collection of Add-ons and a Repo is a collection of builds...that makes things a little clearer.

I suggest you read Steve's post one more time, slowly this time, maybe then you can comprehend what he wrote because he didn't wrote what you just say.

To be honest, if you don't know what you're doing, as you say in your other post, Kodi isn't for you.

I thank you for pointing out my misunderstanding of Steve's post.

I don't appreciate the unnecessary condescending tone.

The purpose of this forum is exchange of information.

No need to be snotty about it.

If you want to exchange information about Kodi go to a Kodi related forum, not a Thailand related forum.

I don't give a flying feg what you appreciate or not. The truth often hurt.
