  1. Successfully have formed Limited Company - Actual forming company at the Companies Offices only took 1 day, but the lead up paperwork and making shareholders took 4 1/2 weeks. I learnt someone who has a Goverment Welfare card cannot be shareholder, so had to find new shareholder. Hardest part was 'Company Name' every one I came up with one, it was rejected - till finally success (by accident). Will say later (when more time) why I rejected forms of usufruct or 30 year lease.
  2. Sep 2022 Nice Thai man speaks very little English, will open above safe for 700 Baht even though he had to come all the way to Ban Amphur, so I gave an extra 50 Baht. He did not break lock others told me, must break lock and replace. I had a spare key in the safe. 087 609 4997
  3. "I think you need to be more precise on the location in Buriram where are you are looking for builders" Did not give precise location, because purchase is still ongoing, and I don't want another bidder. I was searching for comments to see if it is a feasible proposition. High likely there could be vermin infestation, as property is overgrown (meaning fertile) and neglected, but cheap even by Thai standards. Thanks for all the helpful comments.
  4. I need the names, address and/or telephone numbers of Builders/ Renovators in the Buriram area - would help if they can speak a modicum of English. Looking to do renovations/emergency repairs on an older timber. Thai style house. Initially to do repairs to make it safe and live-able, then to upgrade interior later. Many 'side wall' exterior wooden 'tiles' are damaged or missing. A house like this with this location should be preserved, not just knocked down, to be replaced by 'Brick and Tile'. Thanks in advance.
  5. "How would they know you were a citizen if you presented a foreign passport when exiting? " That may be the case with most European origin citizens - but a Thai would defiantly know another Thai at the Immigration Check Point.
  6. About 4 years ago (pre-COVID) (if anyone can remember pre-COVID) I got a lift to a supermarket in Pattaya, passing the Police box at the top of Pattaya Klang, on Sukhumvit Road, I was in sitting in the front passenger seat of a 4x4 without a seat belt on, as we passed by the Police box at the traffic lights, a Policeman ran out of the Police Box with his camera phone and took a picture of me and the vehicle, but did not speak. about 1 hour later, I passed by the same Police Box going in the same direction, but this time I was on a grossly overcrowded 'White' Songthaew (baht bus), standing on the edge of the tailgate, one hand holding on to a alum pole, the other hand holding on to a Big-C bag 'chocka-block' full of shopping. But this time the Policeman thought is is perfectly safe, but not in a 4x4. White Songthaew's run from Banlamung to the Sattahip Market 95% of the way via Sukhumvit Rd.
  7. I was interested to see how many refereed to a Songthaew (Baht Bus) as a Pick-Up Truck. In Australia it was called a 'Ute'. I think the original design was Australian. The locals call it Songthaew, so as far as I am concern that what it is. When Russians were in Thailand they called it a 'Tuk-Tuk'.
  8. fled on motorbike, then arrested at bus station. You would have been much harder to find, traveling, around the Buriram countryside on a motor bike. Trying to reconcile while holding a knife, obviously that way didn't work.
  9. I did engage 2 separate Thai Lawyers in different areas of Pattaya and Jomtien. Lawyer was to set up company for me, My Thai friend was to be a signatory, but then in both cases they discussed plans with my Thai friend that they had not mention or had not made with me. I regarded it as unethical behaviour.
  10. At the moment I am considering letting my Thai friend putting down the deposit (my money) in his company name. we only need to put small holding deposit, but it must be in company name, deposit is less than 20,000 Baht. Have been renting in BKK & Pattaya area for 20 years, but now I want a bit of land of my own to plant fruit trees and veggies. It took about 6 months to find this, so don't want to loose it. have known my business friend for 20 years (2002) when I made the final move to Thailand. We could have 3 months (my guess) for final payment. Could buy to-day without the hurdles.
  11. Would be nice a change of PM just before a General Election, democracy might be the end result, with yet another New Constitution, change that winning seats (what 250 ? seats) before the the first vote is cast.
  12. Present title is held by a company yes, and they have not intention of selling there company with the land. they just want to part with the asset. I think I have another week before a Thai person steps in and shows intention to buy.
  13. Wanting to buy a a house and a piece of land in Buriram Province. Already have plot in mind 3 plus Rai, rural not city setting I already have a Thai business man who will set up the company. Just need any advice and tips from, foreigners who have taken this path before. I wont give to many details as I don't want to alert the seller. Thanks in advance.
  14. Have officially reject offer to buy, What eventually turned me off is any new lease offered will be 'for sale', with the last 12 months to accept the offer ('if there was an offer'), but cost could be an additional 2 Million Baht on 64 sq mt to extend lease. Present Unit lease holder balked at my final offer. I calculated I would be better of and better placed to buy a long term lease or a Freehold property at a later date. Thanks everyone for input.
