  1. which Thai exchange can a foreigner sign up with?
  2. I keep hearing about Elite visa applications getting rejected because of the applicant holding an ED visa currently.
  3. I heard at my school that the immigration is getting stricter with the ED visas in general, checking language skills upon return to the country. Any reports of anyone being denied entry lately?
  4. The immigration officer asked me 2-3 times if I'm coming back before visa expiry and don't I want a re-entry permit because the visa is cancelled otherwise. She didn't write or mark or stamp the visa extension with anything but I certainly consider it cancelled.
  5. Could they somehow retroactively punish me? Should I get a new passport just in case?
  6. Million thanks for all the feedback, help and support. Have been reading every post diligently. Will have an onward ticket booked and 20k baht cash at hand when arriving back to Thailand visa exempt.
  7. Appreciate you always. My plan is to come back on a visa exempt, then get an ED visa for muay thai (i already train 3-5 times a week and considering taking a fight later this year) or ED visa for Thai language since I really finally wanna learn the language. IF they don't ban me, is there some risk coming back within 2 weeks with the same passport, planning to get a visa exempt?
  8. I don't understand why immigration would ask about marriage documents if I come back on a tourist visa or visa exempt? the NON-O visa based on thai spouse wouldn't be valid anymore Especially if I come back with a new passport with a tourist visa on it
  9. No kids, no clue what was talked about between immigration and the elderly lady. I only know that phone numbers were exchanged so that they will give my ex-wife a call. But she goes traveling today in the morning and won't be available for a call. I'm thinking since they will call her instead of giving a new visit at a set time, perhaps it could be just a regular check-up. But we'll learn more later today when I exit Thailand.
  10. My ex-wife. She got the news from her neighbour, an elderly lady. The elderly lady was home when immigration visited, my wife wasn't.
  11. Fingers crossed for no issues at departure...feels like that would be the case but the demons in my mind are telling me otherwise.
  12. fully prepared to face the 20k fine and 1-year ban. when i fly out without a re-entry permit they will cancel the visa anyway. i don't care about that at all. just wishing not to face the 1-year ban since my life and heart is in very deeply in Thailand. edit: is it worth getting the re-entry permit to make the exit for a vacation look more real?
  13. I'll play it cool for sure, it's just that during 5 years of marriage they never came to check on us before.
  14. appreciate your message, well noted. i think the difference in my case and yours is that most likely immigration has been informed about the divorce. and that would also be the reason why they visited my ex-wife. that immigration is in a small province close to BKK, I will be flying out from a different province in about 18 hours so perhaps the news haven't traveled his far yet. according to a couple of lawyers i talked to, this information is now shared between the amphoes and the immigration. i guess we'll find out tomorrow.
  15. ah gotcha, yes. ready to face the consequences, whatever they may be.
  16. It would be an overstay from Dec 12th, why wouldn't the let me leave the country`?
  17. flying out tomorrow and hoping for the best. will update here later so fools like me can learn from my mistakes and no need to do their own mistakes
  18. Would talking to Thailand Elite Visa people and getting one of those visas be an option?
  19. no, i'm not 50 yet. talked to a lawyer and he recommended visiting the immigration ASAP and explaining the situation
  20. aaaah it's the second or third extension to the original visa.
  21. I need to do the 90d report, no need to leave the country until August 26th
  22. I'm in great terms with my ex-wife. I'm on NON-O that's valied from 22 September 2022 to 26 August 2023. I dont know why immigration made the visit, they will call my wife since she wasnt home when they made the visit. They talked to her neighbour.
  23. immigration had visited my ex-wife's place but she was not home. i've been staying on marriage visa after the divorce in december, visa expires in August. no one at the amphoe told me to go to immigration about the visa when we were getting the divorce. What's the worst case scenario staying on the marriage visa after divorce? Can they ban me from the country because of that?
